That's the way I remember it. I wish they would add it back. It would be a handy navigation aid for those of us who are challenged with managing the ton of teams in a scenario.

I think this feature was in CMFI's specs but actually did not work IIRC. Just curious if it is working now after some patch?
"Hotkey Unit Groups. Select units and assign them to number keys for quick navigation during gameplay. To change the camera's location press Alt and the number of the group you want to navigate to. The camera relocates and the highest level unit of that group is automatically selected."
Thanks,

Hello Bil:
Thanks for your answer and sorry for all the questions. Reading your AARs it seems your professional training really helps you in terms of using terrain? Sometimes I feel that I understand some tactics but implementing them on a 2-D environment like our monitor is difficult for me. I struggle very much to find locations with good LOS. Often for important units like HMGs in upper-floors when there is a lot of forest.
When I played the game one of the most unpleasant parts for me was trying to find good LOS. It just seemed to require an awful lot of work. But maybe it just takes a lot of work to find there? And the problem for me with that is when does a game become work rather than fun.
I am looking forward to your scenarios and material.

Hello Bil:
Nearly every scenario in the game is combined arms. And I am worried I will not be able to manage it.
I remember going through Jason's exercises for CMBB. I did fine until there was a combined arms one on the steppe. As soon as my attacking T-34s moved from the setup zone all three were KOed in one minute by German 76mm ATGs. It just seemed impossible.
Hoping that you will deal at some point with Armor fighting over open spaces like this. Or indeed with armor attacking in most situations. There have to be situations where the answer is not spot enemy ATGs and armor, call in artillery to destroy them, and repeat??

I just install it now and it put the game folder and PBEM folders in the C:\Users\username\Documents\Battlefront\Combat Mission Battle for Normandy folder. So both folders are in the same location.

Another question. Is it true for Windows 7 users that the PBEM folder is located under the user's profile and you cannot change it to be under the CMBN installation folder?
Thanks,
Gerry

Didn't notice it either.
Also is it true that MGs were made more effective at suppression and was that in a patch to 2.0?

I think this is a great idea.
Gerry
All scenarios should start just after the heavy arty bombardment..so make sure the units have been abit knocked about if your scenario is to do with a major Russian attack... -
Thanks. I don't have CW so do I need a 1.10 patch before the 1.11 patch or are patches cumulative (I think they are?)?

Hello All:
Thinking about installing CMBN again because of Bil's training scenarios. I realize I will have to buy the 2.0 engine upgrade or the MG + Upgrade bundle.
Assume I am starting the install with the original CMBN. Do I need to install a series of patches too or is it a case of the original CD plus the 2.0 engine upgrade? I am confused!
Bil also mentions CMBN 2.10. I believe this means a future patch after the engine upgrade?
Thanks,
Gerry

Hello Bil:
A fantastic idea. A wish and a comment:
1. Any chance you could set the scenarios up for the original CMBN or CMFI. If I can follow your scenarios I thought it might help me rekindle my interest in the series. I would really like not have to buy more to try them.
2. I don't like QBs. I just like to play scenarios because of their historical nature. I am wondering if I can handle your training scenarios will the game scenarios still be too daunting in terms of complexity and workload? It seems scenarios are getting bigger in terms of number of units? And I also see in one of the AARs that we now have a 2-hour scenario.
Thanks,
Gerry

Sorry, I meant in terms of the number of units. It seems there are just a few units unless a lot more come in as reinforcements?
Thanks,

Hello Noob:
What size scenario is this in PzC?
Enjoying the write-up by both of you.

Giggles all around.
Poor Noob.
Gerry
I did as you commanded, noobenfuhrer. -
Hello Noob:
Maybe it would be better if you played one other person and both posted what was happening in the PzC game? You could better showcase your system with a faster turnaround time?

Hello Noob:
Very interesting and a great idea. Tiller has so many titles so this idea could carry forth into any area Battlefront are planning.
Hope it's OK to ask questions here? Or should I do that in another thread?
Wondering what KOSB stands for. I assume it is something like King's Own ....
Thanks,
Gerry

Before your M10 was knocked out I thought it had a side view on both a Pz IV and the Brummbar? From one of you previous pics.

This is the way I see it now. It seems it has great potential to be a training tool for the military.
Gerry
Well, the game is becoming something that is not suited for the casual player .... -
Oops.

I'm fairly certain womble either had his tongue in his cheek, or forgot the [sarcasm] tags, when he posted that. -
"And as someone pointed out, it's possible that the LOS that I had when I placed the bunker was better than it has eventually turned out to be"
I know someone said this but how can this be? This is a game that tracks every bullet.
In terms of spotting Womble raised the issue that all the problems were on Gaj's side. Well in the previous AAR I remember Bil being pretty ticked when his stationary Shermans didn't spot Gaj's moving PzIVs.

An interesting discussion. I must say that watching this AAR for me is more like watching some clinical operation taking place. I think it is very boring. Seems more like completing a work project than having fun in a wargame.

I think Seedorf was raising questions about the spotting in the game. But some people don't want to think that is a possibility. It does seem strange that 2 ATGs are lost w/o firing a shot. Does not seem realistic?

Thanks everyone. It worked today even though I am not quite sure what I did differently. Maybe I was put off by the combo orange-black targeting line?
I thought there was also a Target Wide command or is that only for artillery?

Hello All:
I thought the procedure was:
- Mtr unit to be in command
- HQ has LOS to target area
- Give a target order to the Mtr unit.
Cannot get it to work. Units are Green; does that matter?
Thanks,
Gerry
Mod Manager

Hello All:
I think it was Martin that had a Mod Manager for CMBB. Curious if there is something similar for CMBN?
Thanks,
Gerry
