  1. Hello:

As far as I see there is no tutorial for the tutorial/training scenario in the Demo.

In the real game, there are 2 tutorial campaigns, each consisting of 3 missions. These are covered in the game manual.

Is it a follow the pop-ups type tutorial or a read the manual and follow along type tutorial?

If it's the latter, which of the 'tutorials' in the manual is the one in the DEMO?

    Thanks,

    Javaslinger

  2. Thanks for the quick responses. Appreciate it. Any thoughts on my second question?

"I also thought my soldiers would be slaughtered attacking up the Hill. But I broke 1 squad into teams to give them different roles and I used the Assault move for another squad. So they seemed to be able to generate enough firepower to allow the others to advance. Is it true that the Americans pack a lot of firepower, so that my scenario described above makes sense?"

One thing I should say is they have more men. But still I thought the Jerries in the trenches would put more of a hurt on them as they advanced in the open.

  3. Hello All:

First, received the game today (yippee) and am OK with the interface etc. Just played the last mission of this Devon Campaign and, although I won, I had trouble with the support weapons.

I used the Mortar w/o a spotter as the manual suggested. It had 10 kills.

The HMG was frustrating however. Placed it as in manual and it never seemed to have a shot; I would set an arc, and nada. So I got frustrated in the end and rushed it up the middle. Still couldn't seem to find anyone to kill.

So I guess it is LOS that is frustrating me. If a real unit is in the woods, they can see if they see the Hill or not. But it's hard for me, at least, to try and emulate that soldier's behavior. Any tips appreciated.

I also thought my soldiers would be slaughtered attacking up the Hill. But I broke 1 squad into teams to give them different roles and I used the Assault move for another squad. Thanks in advance,

  4. Hello Chris:

When it arrives I will have to check it out. But I don't think I can aspire to such lofty heights as making a campaign. I have never even made a scenario and even though I love history I don't read tactical-level accounts, so far anyway.

I see that one of the in-game campaigns, Road to Montebourg, is getting a lot of good press. So that will be interesting to check out.

    Thanks,

    Gerry

  5. Hello:

In the Road to Berlin I have occupied St. Martin Farm and there is no enemy nearby. How do you know if have control over it? I thought someone said the name text goes green when you have control but the text is still white in my mission.

Also is there a way to get a report on how you are doing during the mission (casualties, etc.)?

    Thanks,

    Gerry

  6. Hello:

Just with the Demo still but I assume it's the same in the game. Playing Road to Berlin and had a MG team close to the gap near the farmhouse.

I wanted them to move a bit farther forward and to the right so they may have LOS to the crossroads. However, they moved across the gap and half are now dead as a doornail.

What am I doing wrong? Do you have to zoom in a lot to be able to pinpoint a location. I read somewhere about an 8 x 8m tile. But that is probably the size of the gap. Anyway to get them to move a smidgin?

    Thanks in advance,

    Gerry

  7. Hello:

Need help with the tutorial. Other than taking the farm (secondary objective), what can you do on your left side? Near the enemy there is that huge open field that is too deadly for infantry to cross. Would you just set up a fire base in the 2nd floor of that building? And then send most troops down the right hand side (where all the bocage is)?

How do you get infantry close to take out the ATG? Or do you mind your mortar rounds and focus them on the ATG?

    Any help appreciated.

  8. Hello:

Wondering how large the scenarios are in terms of # units compared to Road to Berlin in the demo. I like small scenarios. If you are not a beta tester, maybe you can give me an idea from the CMX1 series.

And contrary to my username I have never owned any of the series.

    Thanks,

    Gerry
