  1. Looking back at the history of what has been said about when we should expect this, one might begin to wonder if HC has started working for Microsoft and acquired their approach to release dates.
  2. I have a screenshot of a crash debug message. Where do I email it to?
  3. JJ & Rambo: IF you ever create something of your own (like SC and this board) THEN you might understand having a protective attitude towards it. The last I checked neither of you are a moderator (thankfully so) and nowhere do I see you continuing to fund this board after your initial purchase of SC. If the people who are the moderators feel that the person in question is too 'insert your term of choice here' to follow the rules (and warnings) they have laid out and they want him/her gone, that is their perogative. I didn't go looking for the reason (or facts as JJ calls it) why he was banned becaus is was NOT my business. Nor should it be yours unless you are the same type of person and are worried about it happening to you. As for JJ calling me Gestapo, Stalinist Purger, and lynch mob (inciter?) for not wanting 'justice' for the guy I ask you where on this board does it state he is entitled to a trial by his peers? This is a BBS system, created, funded, and maintained by Fury Software and they alone have the right to run it in a way of THEIR choosing. According to you, and others, he was banned for ignoring a warning about his behavior given to him by a moderator. Think of it this way: A regular at the local tavern started getting obnoxious and rude to the other patrons for whatever reason. The bartender asks him to settle down. He refuses and gets even louder. The bartender kicks him out and denies him the PRIVELEDGE, not a right mind you, of returning to the tavern. JJ, how would you feel if I trashed (in a non-criminal way) your 'Extremely Small Business' and continued to do so even after you asked me to stop? Where is the problem? Is it with the moderators or those opposed to moderating? My 'pie-hole' is now shut on this matter. Have a nice day
  4. I don't care who you are or who you THINK you are, vulgarity has no place in this forum. If people want to act like unruly foul-mouthed children then do it in private via ICQ, AIM, etc. I did not read the posts for which he is being banned as I only stop by once or twice a week and check out the lastest word on SC2, new strategy ideas, etc. If the moderators felt the need to ban him then so be it. Just call me an Old Testament kind of guy. I've seen other boards go downhill fast when tolerance was more important than decency. Leave the jerk banned.
  5. I am not an expert in multi-part quoting so please excuse my simplistic reply. First off I did not write the rules I linked to. I came across them by accident and thought they were very good and wanted to share them with you all here. Second, in 85-87 at Andrews AFB those of us in the WarGamers club actually played War in the East AND War in the West AT THE SAME TIME with upwards of a dozen people rotating in and out. One of our members who lived in base housing gave up his basement for just under two YEARS! I never asked how his wife made him pay for that. But I digress. Third, It was ALWAYS pizza because nobody would ever volunteer to leave for a burger run. I also seem to remember that the strange people always seemed to be from Carthage or some such silly place. Fourth, perhaps Rule VIII (I did not write them remember) could be changed to something along the lines of Thou shall play your own games against your opponent without second or third opinions while the game is in progress. Fifth, I don't think Rule IV needs modifying at all. The essence is still as valid via TCP play as PBeM and the more experience players should encourage the novices to learn the subtleties so they are better opponents later on. And lastly I disagree on replacing Rule II. I think it OK in this day and age to OFFER to concede but the offer should not be made until all hope is gone and NOT when the tide has just turned and you know you won't win. The dialogue you have established with your opponent should be the guide here. In SC for example, you as the Axis not taking France until March '41 should not necessarily be an automatic concession. You do not really know how weak the UK position might be because of the tenacious defense of France could have left the British Isles wide open for a Sealion of even the smallest proportions. Let your opponent's demeanor be your guide. As for Rule X, when 'money' is on the table (tourney, etc.), you had better watch out because I'm coming for blood! When it is not, I will sometimes pull the craziest stunts just to see how surprised I can make someone I do very much like the idea of a concensus and then posting them as a sticky for new players (and us oldtimers) to refer to from time to time.
  6. I'd like to suggest that everyone here take a glance at the following page: 10 Rules of PBM It is somewhat dated but I think it still applies to PBeM just as much today as it did to snail mail games of yesterday. My favorites are I, II, & IX. Any comments?
  7. I don't mean to offend anyone, especially someone spending their time to organize and run a league/ladder, but wouldn't it have made much more sense to call the league/ladder Strategic Command or SC instead of Zappleague?
  8. Rommel, could you e-mail me a copy of the map please? Size does not matter. You can get my e-mail from my profile. Thanks.
  9. Is there another patch in the works? If so, what is in it? Is the Suez loop issue of losing units in transit when Suez falls a bug or designed that way? I would think they should be smart enough to turn around and head back to the Atlantic.
