  1. Eureka! Tried all your tips and it worked! Managed to load all the terrain mods in the ruleset. Now moving on to the next ones... Thanks to you all. sengyo
  2. Thanks Apache for your insights. I did try what you suggested to no avail. I seem to have an intermitent problem since I succeded in intalling the Allied Vehicles ruleset at some point although I fail to identify what I did differently then. I will do as you suggest and post on the CMBB board. I'll also try to cleanup again and start from scratch. Thanks again for your help. It at least gave me confidence I was not doing anything obviously wrong. Good hunting. Maybe will see you around the forums again. Sengyo out!
  3. I think I know a bit more about my problem. I did what you mentionned and downloaded the self-extracting file from the site. Now if I choose it from the CMMOS prompt, it does not do anything. I then went and "unzipped" the self-extracting file manually using WinZip. It created a folder called "Disk1" with a bunch of files in it. There are some ".zip" files that my computer can't open for some reason of Microsoft standard. I have an AMD Athlon 1.4 GHz with Microsoft ME. I wonder if there is something wrong in some setup... it just won't run the self extracting files. When I run the files alone (without going through CMMOS) a dialog apprears and shows each files being unpacked but the files do not appear anywhere. Thanks for your suggestion anyway. Any more would be welcome though. Sengyo.
  4. Hello gamers, I am trying to install CMMOS 4.03 to use with CMBO. Do I need v4.02 for the installation to work? If so, where do I get it? I did manage once to self-extract the 4.03 file but can't seem to find the way to install rule sets. Now I got a registry problem because it didn't uninstall properly. Thanks for your help. sengyo [ February 15, 2003, 02:32 AM: Message edited by: sengyo ]
  5. I'd like to get my two cents in on the double thread suggestion. As a relative newbie -just have a dozen battles in CMBO under my belt- I would greatly benefit from reading the veterans' line of thought when they "really" don't know what is coming their way. I think the FOW and the technique to deal with it constitute the core of the game and it would be ashamed to lose it to some less than honest posts. OTOH I strongly support the idea of a "trusworthy" vet taking the other side and sticking to a single thread. Great idea anyway! I'll sure follow this one closely. sengyo
  6. I just checked and it seems that ALL units were destined to exit. I guess that one can't just take the flags and push the americans out of the way and expect to score big. Both games I played ended up in bloody infantry confrontations but, especially the second time, I had pushed the americans to the SW edge of the map, securing the train station with a strong position. I thought that would make it. There are two choices here: either you push them out of the way quickly and leave a minimum force the control the flag while you send the rest of the troops out, or as wbs suggested, just hammer the americans into oblivion and hope for a surrender. Thanks to you both for the tips. Still new at this game but I LOVE it! Sengyo
  7. Hello all. I have now played FitF as the Germans twice. Each time I take both VL pretty early and manage to get about 2 platoons out the exit area. Both times I got defeated though (Allies Tactical Victory). Are the points strictly calculated by the units that exit the map or is there a balance? Looks like I didn't get the briefing right. Does anybody know the answer to that? Thanks in advance Sengyo
