  1. In the end though can't all tactics be termed "gamey"? Personally i play battles how the terrain suits units, with occasionaly unuusual units thrown in, just to keep the enemy guessing. I prefer a mix of units though soldiers/vehicles/mines etc.. as appropriate, but i hav eno beef woth others who purely select forces based on one way or another
  2. I can't wait for the africa/meditarrenean campaign, i loved CMBO and CMBB had great physics but the battles weren't as interesing imo. Now all we need is CM: Pacific Theatre
  3. A few times now, during combat, i have caused fires to occur around enemy positions. While the smoke cloud does lower the ability to site things does anyone know if it inflicts casualties upon the enemy i have pinned near the fire, furthermore can the fire spread if left long enough. I haven't had on ehappen in a long scenario yet except in a wheat field near the end of a session of All or Nothing (God i love that mission. I ask because the few times i have seen i the enemy have run through the flames to escape! So are the flames just for show or do they actually inflict damage? (I searched for this topic but was given a hgue amount of posts not evenly remotely related to the subject). Thanks for any help - Brodieman [ December 10, 2002, 04:38 PM: Message edited by: Brodieman ]
  4. Only 2 weeks it took for my copies of CMBO and CMBB to arrive....i am speechless i was expecting a much longer transfer time, and the game....awesome, so much better than the demos, so much more, so much better sound. And now i can install all these sweet mods that i have downloaded for the game. This is possibly the best day of my life, or if my significant other is reading this, the second best day of my life So much gaming and so little time!! The only problem is i just went and purchased Arx Fatalis to tide me over until these games arrived!
  5. Thanks for checking mate, sorry to get everyones hopes up about it! I'm regretting the purchase of my ATI card now, sure it's good hardware but as you have stated the driver support is rubbish, particularly if it means the card will not perform basic graphic functions!
  6. Damn! I would really like to see fog in this game! How frustrating! Sorry for the false alarm.
  7. I downloaded a tool a while ago so i could better manage my Radeon 9000 Pro, it is called the Rage 3d tweaker, it is available from http://www.rage3d.com/r3dtweak/ . Once installed it offers you more tweaks/access to your videocard. Of particular interest is the ability to change fog processors ie from W fog to Table fog and Z fog. For example i fixed my fog issues with Thief 2 by disabling the W Fog and enabling Table Fog and Z fog. I am wondering if this will work for CMBO and CMBB. I have yet to try it yet simply because i'm still waiting for my games to arrive and the demos have no fog missions in them. The process to enable fog (if it works) is to open the Rage 3d Tweak tab under advanced display properties, select Direct 3d then scroll down the list until you find three things W Fog, Z Fog and Table Fog. Disable W Fog (ati crappy fog) and enable Z Fog and Table Fog - apply them and hopefully it will correct ATI fog issues with CMBO and CMBB i guess. Can someone try this and confirm whether it works or not? Thanks, Brodieman
  8. ALL RADEON OWNERS!! Try downloading the 3drage tweak tool. In it are options to disable ATI's crappy w fog and options to enable table fog and z fog (i think both need to be enabled to work - but disable w fog too). Download at http://www.rage3d.com/r3dtweak/ Once installed open up the settings select the 3d tweak tab from there double click on direct 3d tab then remove the tick next to w fog and place ticks next to z fog and table fog - now hopefully it should display fog for CMBO. I still haven't got the game (damn postal service) but it corrects my no show fog in Thief 2 so hopefully it helps will some one try it and tell us please!
  9. I'll direct some 105mm feather strikes at his position, you get in close and whack him with the tar, and i'll do the rest.
  10. If you are using Nero Burning Rom for your burning make sure you install the InCD program so that you can easily burn to and access your CDRW's with great ease, infact it will allow you to treat the entire CD like a big 700 MB floppy disk! I found it great for moving off Mods and patches for various games i have, i was esily able to chop and change to the latest patches and create new folders etc.. with real ease.
  11. I vote for a North Africa/Mediterranian (?sp) game, just for the mobile armoured warfare of Africa and the great scenarios you would get from the Mediterranian (ie Crete, Italy etc..). Of course a game of the Pacific would be great too! Lots of beach combat and close quarters battle without the support of much armour. Hmmm Flamethrowers..toasty....
  12. Sounds like PBEM may be a great way to sustain a game or two while work is busy - sounds great! @ Mikeydz i certainly will let her play the demo and see what happens, hopefully she'll like it or if not at least accept that i may be around a little less. So when i get the game(s)i'll have a crack at the AI then play a few PBEM games - so for the next 12 months i guess i'm going to be handed a great many defeats at the hands of you guys!
  13. Rats, i ahve a Radeon 9000 Pro so i guess i too will be copping no visuals for fog, bugger it!
  14. Oh no both games!! Well like you i am an imminent nOOb and have been reliably informed that both games will consume the remainding days of my life (probably a good 60 years or so, you know with medical advances or so) If you only got one you would still have enough time to do other things like sleep, eat and maybe, just possibly work! I've ordered the Bundle Deal and in that i get approx 300 page manuals one for each of the games, well that's what it says in the readme, so no rubbish pdf files that will see us burn out printer ater printer just to get some info on units etc.. I wouldn't know about any extra mods or anything, but this is th eplace to be for them anyway i've quickly noticed. The guys here are helpful and very informed on the subject so i guess we are lucky to be late comers to the CM games because we have all these wonderful mods to choose from. Ah i ramble. If you have ordered the Bundle pack then you get the games and the manuals is what i ws trying to say See you on the forums
