  1. First off, just got it and I ordered it Thursday night. . .not too bad! Secondly, to battlefront and the author, fantastic work, the tables are exceptionally helpful, and to be honest, I was hoping for something like this few years ago when I bought CMBO. Very grateful and satisfied in Pittsburgh. [ December 16, 2002, 03:24 PM: Message edited by: Stug30 ]
  2. It is funny that you should mention this. Last night during a quick battle allied assault, I, as the Soviet commander, saw just that. A tank that I flanked the main position of the German defense had captured a MG42 crew, the standard 1 man ok 5 casualities. The 34 then knocked out a pillbox that had been chewing up 3 squads of pioneers for the last turn turns. The crew from the pillbox jumped out, was blasted and then also surrendered. When the 3 squads that were being shot at by the pillbox made there way up the hill they promptly killed the captured men. Oh well, Russian justice I assume.
  3. Best bet is to just delete from your folder! I want to know who can run it, anyone out there? And why include it on the CD? [ December 15, 2002, 07:59 AM: Message edited by: Stug30 ]
  4. the last shot there is great! gotta love the severed limbs and such . . .
  5. My guess then would be that the computer is giving some value to map and terrain. Is there something environmental that might be prohibitive to the use of armor or something that the comp doesn't want to invest in it? Because honestly, I've played attacks, ME, probe, assaults and really have never had this problem. Also why not set your force at armor, rather than mechanized and combined arms. Or perhaps unrestricted. . . not sure exactly how to answer but I hope this might help. [ December 14, 2002, 07:14 PM: Message edited by: Stug30 ]
  6. Earlier I was playing a quickbattle with a friend of mine. I believe it was June 41 computer pick. The AI choose to buy my opponent 3 PzIIIH and 6 Panzer38. . . So i'm not sure it never buys tanks. By the way, it was on a small map with 700 pts. I prefer having just about everything set on random for quick battles, really asks you to think about your tactics. Except for hills and tree coverage, nothing worse than an assault over 400 meters of open ground [ December 14, 2002, 02:21 PM: Message edited by: Stug30 ]
  7. Anyway, there was someone out there with CMBO that had a random battle generator that gave you realitively great match-ups. I guess there is no such beast for CMBB. . .yet?
  8. No, you were right, I did mean a QB. There was a site for CMBO that would generate everythign randomly for you and then you would include the parameters. The way the computer does it with everything random, I get flat maps half the time and very uneven force combinations. How bout infantry with no infantry support against a dug in defender who has a platoon of medium tanks? It has happened far too often.
  9. It doesn't seem to me that conscript troops could ever become green. They were after all what was left over and used in "last stand/last hope" situations. Also, from my what I have heard, I don't think it would take many firefights for one to become a regular. To hear my Grandfather (1120th Combat Engineers) tell it, you would figure things out pretty dam quick. Or die trying.
  10. Is there a CMBB Battle Generator, similar to the one for CMBO out there? To let the computer pick everything random has led to one too many open ended assaults. Any help out there?
  11. Are there any avaiable references, that I could print out, that discuss all the various unit types, what years they are available, and such in regards to CMBB. Thanks in advance
  12. I may be mistaken, but it sounds like you let the computer set up on its own. If you leave it on the default. There will be one MG Bunker at the bottom of the church, and two AT Guns dug in on either side. Plus that defensive line (barbed wire and fox holes) guarding an attack from the right flank.
  13. Please leave the infantry model alone. I would instead prefer you to address the tacAI, especially in regards to machineguns that pull out of their nests when fired upon (as you mentioned). Steve---you've probably heard this one too often to be of any meaning, but I believe you did a wonderful job on this game.
  14. Hells Bells is "Cemetary Hill" hard!! Possible Spoiler: But I doubt it. . . Whoever pulled a minor as the Germans on his first attempt certainly has some skills as a CMBB commander. My new short term goal, BLOW THOSE DAM RUSSIANS OUT OF THAT CONFOUNDED TRENCH!!!!!
