  1. Because we have a darling 3 1/2 month old, I haven't had much time to play, but in the wee hours of this morning I was able to launch my first Barbarossa. My goodness, it was such a bloody horror. I loved every minute of it! Cheers to Hubert, the testers, and to Battlefront for delivering what's basically the game that I always wanted to write. Ok, back to the front...
  2. Lol, I didn't even know that you could upgrade a city's AA. That rocks! I gotta find more time to play this!
  3. Thanks for quick reply Moon! I just went away from the computer and tried again... and it's all good! Downloading at 118kB/second. Cheers for holding our hands through the growing pains!
  4. I downloaded a copy at work this morning, but trying from home now and not even getting the 'too many connections' page. It's just stalling trying to connect to elicense.com.
  5. Got the email, downloading it as I type this I'll be sending Junkers over the channel by 8pm est at this rate
  6. My impressions: Took a few minutes to get used to everything, but then I found that it plays a lot like SC1, only with layers and layers of more depth that I can get to when my pre-order arrives. Very happy, but anxious for my CD to come!
  7. Can't wait to try out various allied and axis strategic bombing campaigns! As a suggestion, everyone who pre-orders should get a free heavy bomber upgrade.
  8. The important thing is that Battlefront and the Developer (Fury Software) are getting the lion's share of the money, and not the distributor and EBGames. I wouldn't mind digital download, but I don't mind paying a bit more for a nice manual and a box.
  9. Ok, a little more than I was expecting ($12 shipping to canada? but it's just a $0.51 cent stamp from Toronto!) but I've pre-ordered. Bring on the game!
  10. Hey I'm redoing our upstairs bathroom and my wife and I are wondering what to do for the floor. Here are some of the patterns we're considering: and then there are these as well... Anyway, all good, I'm sure it'll be a great bathroom either way.
  11. Yeah, in an ideal world I'd be all for hexes myself. But even if the majority of 'wargamers' prefer hexes, look at gamers in general. Most would never play a hex-based game. And yet tile-based Civ 1...4, as mentioned earlier, are huge huge sellers. Imagine how badly a Civ game would flop if it was turned to hexes. The tiny, but vocal, wargamer community would love it, but not the guy walking into EBGames to see if there's anything interesting to play... And not even the guy browsing GameSpot's list of PC demo's. He wants tile-based. Anyway, I have faith that Hubert will do a great job with tiles and that SC2 will be even better than SC1. And if it isn't, well ... it was only $25??
  12. I'm anxious to see how it plays for myself, but I think that the vast majority of 'casual' strategy gamers are more used to tiles. Look at the ongoing success of Civ4. I personally found it unplayable, but it's been in the top 3 every week since it shipped. It appeals to casual strategy gamers, which outnumber grognards 10:1, at least...
