Russian / Ukrainian Breaching kits
Jotte replied to Ivan Zaitzev's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
Did a little poking around in game; Russian recon squads have demo charges but no other non-engineer units in either UKR or RUS forces have them in game. Would be nice if there was MOUT augmented units in their OOB in a future patch/expac. Also, breach kits that could be acquired from vehicles/supply trucks would be a nice addition. -
@theforger Thanks for sharing. Lacked this FM in my collection.

Now that would be a real treat!

IIRC one of the main reasons behind the IAR is that a SAW like the FN Minimi is rather bulky and heavy when clearing rooms, trenchlines etc. And the reasoning is that with new more advanced aiming optics you trade volume of fire for precision fire. Also if I remember the articles about it the USMC intended, at least originally, to keep SAW's as company level assets that could be distributed as needed due to mission requirments.

Polish Spec Ops fast rope, then enter "Kill House"
Jotte replied to John Kettler's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
In the first shot the last guy lands on his ass due to the rope being released ½ sec befor he touches down. -

Dont worry, Battlefront will make breaching kits great again..... +1 , that would be a neat option to be able to pick up such things in limited quantity from vehicles.

Steve posted this little snipet about fire in another thread: "ASL tinder effect" "Unfortunately a game like Combat Mission requires generalization for it to work as a game and yet reasonably portray real life situations. In actual combat there is probably 10 exceptions to every general rule. It's very difficult to simulate those exceptions without them becoming the standard. The example we've used since CMx1 days is the ASL "tinder" rules where you can light fire to something. While certainly deliberately setting a fire was done in real life here and there, gamers used it as a standard tactic. And that's not right at all. " He developed a bit about it in another post that I cant seem to find atm.

The closest to a WW2 era flamethrower you'll get in CMBS is the russian RPO-A. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RPO-A_Shmel

Looks like a co-worker here is right then... He maintains he is the last man on Earth, seriously. All the rest of us are aliens, weather we know it or not. Wonder how someone pulled of such salvage operations without getting noticed?

I'll add my voice to the choir of praise! It's been a joy. Well illustrated with evocative pictures and clear maps. Looking forward to the next iteration.
