  1. No, no this is Normandy not yet the Operation Market Garden and "the old men and chidren Army" of SS Panzers resting in lovely Holland . And Operation Market garden was mostly British or Commonwealth affair, Monty's great idea to shorten the war and to give more prestige to Brits. UK was in little bit sidekick role (like Batman and Robin ) in Western Front after US went to European Theatre [ May 25, 2008, 02:49 PM: Message edited by: Molotov Cocktail ]
  2. Also in WW2 during Winter War 1939-1940, Soviet Union against Finland Winter War from Wikipedia Battle of Raate Road from Wikipedia Battle of Raate Road was part of Battle of Suomussalmi During battle of Suomussalmi two Soviet Divisions were annihilated (other one was 44th Ukrainian Rifle division which invaded Poland 1939) and one NKVD regiment Soviet prisoners after Raate Battle of Winter War and Finnish ski soldiers "White Death" as Soviets called Finns with white snowsuits US documentary Fire And Ice about Winter War 1939-1940 [ May 06, 2008, 04:59 PM: Message edited by: Molotov Cocktail ]
  3. Hey, I even understand some written Danish alltough I am not Scandinavian ( I do not speak Scandinavian language as mother tongue) I am still Nordic. We have to learn Swedish at school, Swedish is second official language and about 5-6 percent are swedish speaking in Finland. Still I understand even my Swedish is quite bad This is also from Denmark
  4. Why CMAK was not so popular? There was US troops and also other good guys Commonwealth troops and North Africa is quite legendary battefield with Rommel, Montgomery and Patton and also Italy with Monte Cassino and other quite famous battles. The Med as battlefield is not so familiar to Americans as Brits maybe?
  5. Maybe not so commercially viable, there are no U.S troops for American players
  6. Shtrafbat was quite good, I saw it in Finnish TV YLE 1 channel It was Russian version Band of Brothers, but not about elite airborne but in very Russian style or Soviet style about Penalty Battalion (Shtrafbat) Shtraf=Penalty Bat= I think it is abbreviation of battalion
  7. Also the Polish cavalry charge myth was strenghened by famous Polish movie director Andrzej Wajda in Polish movie Lotna. IMDB:Lotna (1959) In this movie there is cavalry charge against German tanks. Director was critized for this Good article about films and the myth of Polish cavalry charge Lotna - A film by Andrzej Wajda: The Mythology of Romanticism in the Context of War This myth was even so strong, that particular Italian news about cavalry charge was quoted in my Finnish history book (in elementary or high school book) as an example of outdateness of Polish Army against Blitzkrieg (in Finnish salamasota) machinery of Nazi Germany. And my history teacher in elementary school mentioned the Polish cavalry. When he talked about start of World War II and German invasion of Poland About Lotna (1959) movie by Andrzej Wajda from Wikipedia Charge at Krojanty September 1. 1939 Poland from Wikipedia [ March 19, 2008, 03:10 PM: Message edited by: Molotov Cocktail ]
  8. What about unit patches arm bands for uniforms? Decals for helmets? Unit insignia for vehicles? Those were 2D textures for 3D models or part of 2D textures. Now new CM series have finer detail and graphics and those kind of things are relativily easy to make compared to 3D models like these I mean so different foreign volunteer units of Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS are easy just some national decal or patch and of course helmet netting and such last one Eastern Front stuff Za Stalina! For Stalin!
  9. Ok I will try. Thanks for help Maybe I did not use so much control arrows CMX1 games but other means to move the view, rotate camera (mouse), I like more the old control system. I felt anyway controlling, rotating and moving very clumsy in this CMSF

  12. Bring back the control arrows to the GUI I downloaded the demo. And I got frustrated because there were no familiar control arrows like in CMX1 games. I think one greatness of CMX1 games was relative intuitive and easy to use GUI (control buttons), like in chess (that ancient board game) user interface is quite simple, but itself the game is quite complex and has depth. (It did not take not much time to learn to play game, much more of course to master it) It would good that GUI would be changed, so that control arrows would be there. If understand about programming that would be not very difficult as you have probably used modular programming (separate GUI, separate game engine). Maybe beta testers have told about this when they tested this game And you (Battlefront.com) had good reasons to get rid of those control arrows from CMSF? I mean now with these new user interface it gets more effort to familiarize with new GUI and all the keyboard keys which are used in the game.
