  1. Just to add to this "get kids interested in history" argument. I think the "diversity"-spiel is a chimera. No real follow ups are usually done on how it might achieve said goals, on the contrary. I feel it's more of a PR-opportunity for companies, government authorities and also in our case, the Swedish Defence Forces. Again, it's a sign of the times. Kids want to hear this stuff to feel good, but I doubt it actually matters when it comes to actually garner real interest past that.
  2. Many government orgs in my resident country of Sweden actually have inclusivity and diversity goals, with money set aside in the budget I assume. I also assume this is the case in the UK as well. Lucrative stuff, this. Sign of the times.
  3. Off for a small vacation for a couple of days and would like som SHock Force action if weather sucks. Is it possible to install the game on a second computer as long as you don't play the game simultaneously on both?
  4. Re-install fixed everything!
  5. Well for the modules, not the base game. I installed the v.1 modules as nothing really happened on activation after buying upgrade packs for British Forces and Marines.
  6. Do the games share mod folders? I have no mods at all for SF2.
  7. Hey guys, I am seeing a weird issue both in game and the menus. Check the first screenshot. The "Confirm" text is missing on the button (TextIssue1.png). For the second issue, there's missing text for the status lines for each soldier, and it also looks missaligned? Anyone else seen this before?
  8. Just to confirm for anyone having the same Q later on. I could send support my license key from the GamersGate version and they helped me from there.
  9. Thank you Ian, will do so and see how it goes.
  10. Hi all! Is it possible to buy an upgrade to CMSF 2 if I bought the base CMSF 1 from GamersGate? I bought the Marines and British Forces modules from the BF store, but the base game is from GamersGate.
  11. I've seen a few of his vids. I can't believe he's not died of botulism yet.
  12. Didn't work. I only got slightly singed on one arm. Turns out I might be old, but I'm not very flammable.
  13. Jesus effing Christ... I've been here so long I've actually forgotten what the Peng Challenge even is. I'm getting old. So old.
  14. "Soon". He really does look like a cat getting ready to pounce in that first pic.
  15. Really like this one. The map is great and it fell pretty much within my sweet spot in terms of force size. A really solid job!
  16. I'll check all of the out when I get home. Really looking forward to it.
  17. Haven't used the myself yet but sacrificed a whole German coy to them and Soviet SMG:s in a quick battle a couple of days ago. It was slauhter.
  18. Indeed. I distinctly remember a story my gramps told me that did ring VERY similar to a scene from an old war movie I knew both him and me had watched. Memory is a fickle thing. On the other hand, he told me about the death of his best friend in June 1944. He was lost in a local counterattack and went missing with a lot of other from the same company (not the same coy as my gramps), and sure enough. The company war diary gives details on losses incurred during a counter attack on a Soviet position on June 23 1944. His friend is even mentioned in name, and the place was also spot on. So it is a bit hit and miss that memory thing.
  19. I made a small attempt at this with CMBB. Will certainly do it again if a Finnish module comes out.
  20. Kurowski's books are a great read, even though one should, as always, keep an open mind about what you read.
  21. I need to get Fraps and record some of this, because it is hillarious. Half the map plastered in rocket fire, then I have to crawl around to find what few units the AI have purchased for whatever points it has left. Still, RT is the best CM yet. What a game!
  22. Stories are being lost indeed. I managed to interview my grandfather about his service before he passed a few years ago. He was a sub-machinegunner in the Finnish Army and somehow managed to live through it all. He was a simple soldier and had no real grasp of the tactics or strategy, he simply did his job as told. That's how he viewed it afterwards at least. Still have his stories documented, but they are fragmented.
  23. Just look at the recent EU elections to see more of the "it's their fault" mentality as well as fear showing it's ugly head. People actually vote for parties with nazi sympathies.
