  1. ...clicked on the link, didn't see a damn thing related to cm, however i was connected to a spiffy german site devoted to mariah carey and "Die Mumie 2." no fair.
  2. ...could any of you fellows provide me with the addresses of some of your favorite/well documented resources for online photos of WWII infantry... ...although all nationalities are useful to me at this stage, i have been particularly hard-pressed to find examples of British and Canadian troops in action... many thanks, have at it... 3. "Combat Missions?" "CM Outpost?" WHERE are you? ...get this guy onboard, quick...
  4. surly ben: ...sweet mother of god! first rate work through and through.... please release these at the earliest opportunity! ...and for the love of things good and pure, give them to a reliable site. ...the last texture (overcast?) is simply the best i have ever seen, photorealistic - exceeds all expectations. ...pardon me here, but easy goes it with the violet on the summer versions... have you considered applying your talents to other pieces of terrain? if not, that's a damn shame... please keep us informed on your progress...
  5. rommel22: ...thanks for the offer, however, now that i have something of a feel for how this little trick can be pulled off, i will, almost certainly, be composing my own mock-up (which is, no doubt, for the best, as i have a cumbersome habit of being rather...demanding). by the way, the german armor illustrations you cut and pasted are some really dandy samples. nice source. keep at it.... any technical pointers you would like to pass along? say for example, how to expand an image with little/no pixelation? letsbe: ...judging from what you mentioned, as well as from the results of my recent monkeying-around, it seems as though i may have to find a different image to work with in order to avoid any distortion. too bad, as it was a striking photo....
  6. quite nice all around. where can i find the sky textures used in those screenshots?
  7. ...god almighty these are welcome... ...don't forget, these machines have been in the field, mud, mud!
  8. michael: ...thanks for the tips. now then, when i attempted to resize my selected image to fit a 1024x742 resolution ("attributes"), the background was expanded, however the actual image retained its original dimensions. the result is a large white screen in which the image itself occupies approximately one third of the total space. no fun. is there a way to increase the dimensions of the image itself without turning it into a pixelated mess? i tried to push/pull the edges, which did increase the dimensions, but left the image more than a little undefined.... do i simply need to find an image which has dimensions closer to those i need? thanks, you have been a great help.
  9. david aitken: masterful! it has a special...something. a rawness perhaps, yes, yes indeed...
  10. michael dorosh: ...the use of the painting sounds like a fine solution (i believe i may be familiar with the image you are referring to, not a bad selection...). i am more than a little bit short of technical know-how, could i find an image on the web, convert it to a .bmp format and plug it into the game? if so, how? skipper: no, i can't say that i am. actually the only WWII games i have played/am familiar with are CCIV and the jewel provided by our hosts...
  11. ...a bit of pleading... ...if possible, could one/some of our fine mod-making lads whip together some alternative "splash screens?" ...it would be rather refreshing, seeing as i seem to be stuck with the stock version, which to be honest, makes me giggle... ...if i may: ...why not find an actual image from the period - perhaps selected for its interesting composition/intensity/narrative qualities.... in my view, an abbreviated list of elements to avoid while drafting this project would begin with - cluttered, uninspired "collages," garish "military" lettering, images that focus on machines rather than men, the trite use of flags etc.... to be brief, keep it simple and clean - let the content of the image do the talking. nothing screams rank amateur like the addition of a campy font or other boyish attempts at adding "flash" to what would otherwise be a riveting image. ...well, enough of my blubbering, any thoughts? please...
  12. ...why are german reinforcements arriving intermingled with those appearing for the americans on an undesignated portion of the map? my own scenario: north, south and west map edges set to "allied," east set to "axis." each side has 3 deployment zones on the extreme edges of the map, the western edge for the allies and the eastern edge for the germans. why then, are german reinforcements, which i believed were restricted to appearing within the "axis" deployment zones, arriving mixed in with the american troops on the WEST side of the map literally within an ALLIED deployment zone? what am i doing incorrectly? thanks.
  13. well, mike8g thanks. i was hoping these vehicles would get a working over. this is a fine start, please continue working on them...
  14. ...pay heed to gyrene, troop - dismount the mech infantry in anticipation of enemy contact when at all possible, otherwise you'll be watching entire platoons being incinerated... ...perhaps a few m8's and m20's in support wouldn't hurt your cause either... ...have fun.
  15. ...well fellas, a sincere thankyou to all of you... ...as shrullenhaft noted, simply popping an extension on the end of the title doesn't mean squat - after his explanation, the proper way to go about this matter became much clearer. ***shrullenhaft: i notice your name appearing on a great many of the posts appearing on this tech board, each seems wonderfully concise and informed. you are a genuine asset to this community! ...again, thanks to all who took the time...
  16. ...tried "times new roman," font "12," no difference... certainly it should not be this much of a hassle to simply add a few lines of text! what gives?
  17. aahhh, just what i'll need for my 14th Cav scenario...looking forward...
  18. ...i'll keep it short... i attempted to attach 3 text files (MS word 97, saved with the appropriate ".txt" extension) to a scenario i created, but they appeared on the briefing screen as a jumbled mess of odd symbols with my text interspersed throughout... how can i correct this?
  19. ...looking to update my driver without sinking cm in the process...
  20. stixx: check your e-mail...thanks for your help!
  21. maximus: ...know of any place where a fella can still download directx 7.0a?
  22. ...well TG, if you are still listening... i took the advice of the fellows who suggested the geforce cards and i can now personally testify to the soundness of their advice (...at least after my initial trial runs )
  23. thanks fellas, i appreciate the insight... ...after turning up some additional posts regarding the ati's lack of ability to produce fog, i picked up a geforce card, which seems to be delivering fine in terms of cm, but produces an odd "directx ddr generic" error with another title... well, perhaps with a bit more monkeying around i can get everything up to speed. my thanks.
