  1. Sounds great Keith. I particularly like the author's ability to select text or graphical reviews. How do you intend to handle the existing DB of reviews? jw
  2. US Army 1983 to 1991 1983-1986 Forward Observer assigned to A company, 2/75th Rangers, Ft. Lewis, Washington 1986-1987 Fire Support Sergeant for A company, 1-325 Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne, Ft. 3. You can get the Stalingrad Pack at Boots & Tracks. See the link in my sig. jw
  4. Amen to that! My last operation to be released publicly was B&T's The Beginning of the End. It reflected a trio of battles that I enjoyed playing IMMENSELY. I relesaed it because I hope others enjoy playing it, but if not, c'est la guerre. jw
  5. So which Operation have you made that gets it right? jw
  6. Panther Commander - an AAR would be great. Hope you enjoy it. jw
  7. Boy that's a great link. Thanks LOS jw
  8. Panther Commander - I have two new ones, Well of Souls and Murphy's Law, that will be released with an upcoming Boots & Tracks pack. But if you like, email me at jwxspoon@combatmission.com and I will send it to you. jw
  9. Gen Splatton- when you start the full version of CMAK and you go to the scenario screen the tutorial is the first scenario listed. jw
  10. Thanks Jim! That one was designed specifically as a tutorial; I had in my mind the commands I wanted to teach and basically designed the scenario around that. I do love those 3 inch mortars!!! jw
  11. This is what I like to refer to as a "Can o Worms" thread... Not sure if I am the guy Mike was referring to on the CMAK beta team (I suspect he means another gent I am thinking of) but both Rune and I have in fact stopped posting our scenarios at the Depot until there is a change made to a new system, for a variety of reasons. First, I get much better feedback on my scenarios via email than I do in reviews at the Depot with the current system. Also, I have access to a dedicated group of testers that are varied enough in their opinions to help provide me good feedback. Second, (I won't rehash the contents of other threads here) it is difficult to get a consistent numerical rating with the current review system. Third, brain-dead and pompous idiot reviewers gave me a bad taste on the whole process. Every designer has a jerk or two they will think of when they read this paragraph. I won't even get started here on that guy. I know talented designers that quite literally stopped producing scenarios after dealing with a few of these types of folks. My and Rune's response was simply say 'screw this' and make the scenarios we like without exposing them to the current review system at the Depot. Once things switch over to the new system I will probably participate fully. I WILL donate to the upkeep of the Depot if Admiral Keith posts a paypal link, and I will buy that gentleman a beer when I finally get to meet him. It is because of people like the Admiral, or the other designers - people that put hours of unpaid effort into creating scenarios or websites that can be enjoyed freely by all - that the CM series has become successful even beyond the merits of the individual games. jw
  12. For the sake of simplicity and ease of use for all scenario authors and reviewers I hope that the changes made are simple. I like the revision to my original suggestion made by Berli. jw
  13. Hey guys! Sorry it took me so long to notice this thread, I generally run away from Michael Dorosh authored threads as fast as I can  (just kidding Mike! Actually after seeing pics of your jeep I am working hard to get mine up to snuff) Rune and I were talking the other day about what changes we would like to see in the rating system at the Scenario Depot. Both of us wholeheartedly support Admiral Keith and the Scenario Depot. It has become the best online repository of scenarios for the CM series. However, the current numbering system does need to be changed. I would like to see a switch from a numbering system to a simple poll-type display. A reviewer would simply pick from the following choices: 1. Highly Recommended 2. Somewhat Recommended 3. Reviewer is Neutral 4. Somewhat Negative 5. Extremely Negative The results could be displayed in a percentage type basis. Perhaps there could still be a section for individual text comments by the reviewers, as well as a rebuttal section for the scenario author. jw
  14. Try Ponyri Express, in the Boots & Tracks Kursk Pack. Beware, it will bring a girlie computer to its knees. jw
  15. Sorry, couldn't help myself. Just a bit of grammar humor. jw
  16. I have an Alienware Area 51M laptop which I purchased in November of last year. It is a P4 2.8ghz with 512MB Ram and a Radeon 9000M graphics card with 64MB of video ram. It plays any CMBB and CMAK scenarios I have thrown at it, even some of the latest Rune monstrosities, as well as my XP2500+ desktop does. I would highly recommend the ATI Radeon mobility series video cards. jw
  17. Well my tentative date for the sneak preview will be Saturday afternoon, October 18th, starting at 1pm Beer and burgers will be available, as well as multiple computers so you guys can play against each other. jw [ September 29, 2003, 03:57 PM: Message edited by: jwxspoon ]
  18. Hey Ted, That date is a possibility, I have not firmed one up yet. Regardless, you are welcome to come by and I will show you the game. Jeff
  19. Also, Wyatt "wwb" Barnett is the team captain for the Boots & Tracks Scenario Design team. He is doing a fantastic job and B&T will continue to help supply some of the best in scenarios for the CM series of games for the foreseeable future. jw [ September 25, 2003, 07:49 PM: Message edited by: jwxspoon ]
  20. I would like to report a thread hijacking, perpetrated by a 5 foot Canadian with a 70's porn moustache. jw
  21. Following along the lines of Rune's sneak peek, I will be doing one as well in Myrtle Beach, SC on a Saturday in mid October. Will post the exact date later. Those interested in attending should email me and let me know. jw
