  1. So will there be an announcement when the CMAK compatibility issue has been resolved? I definitely want the CMAK version but it doesn't do me much good until I can play my version 1.03 opponents. But man the demo sure rocked on my Vista machine! Oh, edited to add, does $5 get all the upgrades (CMBO, CMBB and CMAK)? Or is it $5 per? Just wondering...
  2. Does anyone know if this driver is good for the notebook version of the 8400 GS? I see the GeForce 8400 GS listed in the supported cards listing. But the GeForce 8400M GS is not. I'm not sure if nVidia normally lists these two cards separately or not. But I would think support for one does not imply support for the other?
  3. Updated the drivers and it had no effect on my 8400M GS. Still have the screen that scrolls wildly around, etc.
  4. Not sure what to do with this. It gives ammo load outs for the MGs, but not firepower ratings.
  5. Haven't been able to find the answer to this one so thought I'd throw it out here and see if anyone knows. Is there any way to find the firepower value of the MGs mounted on AVFs or Armored vehicles? There are times I want to pin infantry using my armor but don't want to waste the HE ammo to do so. I was wondering how effective the MG on say a Sherman would be at doing the job, maybe in comparison to using an infantry squad. Knowing the firepower value would be helpful. Are these values out there anywhere?

  7. Not really. They want active members. If you aren't logging at least one game every three months, you'll end up being removed from the rolls.
  8. I play exclusively at WeBoB now. I have played at Blitz in the past, but my account languished and no less than half a dozen emails to every CM affiliated email on the site attempting get it reactivated has gone unanswered. The advantage of WeBob (IMHO only) is that it isn't really a ladder. The emphasis is on fun and comradery. Which is definitely a refreshing concept. So, depending on what you are looking for, it may or may not be the place for you. PoS would hate it there since playing 9000 games but losing half of them wouldn't garner him any accolades. But if you like to play the game for fun, try out new things, have some good banter, etc, I don't think you can beat it.
  9. I just watched the demo movie on the developers site (9 min). I see this happening. A guy was shot and dropped his rifle. Every time there was a concussion of any type, it would come flying out of the trench in to the air. The last time, it must have landed 100 yds away!
  10. That would be a very interesting exercise. Produce a file with various units near trees, buildings, etc, and have folks download it and post a screenshot from their given versions of the game.
  11. This is the sole reason I use it. I really don't understand why you would think it is any form of cheating. It is simply something that makes it easier to see rises and low spots in terrain. Something a commander in the field would certainly have.
  12. There seems to be a lot of verbiage flying around to say that variable endings were designed to get rid of last turn flag rushes.
  13. Just a minor thing: Thank you very much, your application has been registered! An email has been send to me@me.com! Please follow the intructions in this email to complete your registration! "Send" should be "sent." And the word instructions is spelled wrong (missing S). Edited to add, the registration process seemed to work smoothly including the email link.
  14. The settings for the game are what they are. It is a fact. Whether you "accept" it or not does not change the fact in the slightest. As for "betters," that is all that need be said in judging your character. Your arrogance is laughable when considering you are talking about a computer game. Though there is unfortunately no ignore option on this board, consider this my last post that even remotely addresses you. I realize your immature taunts are an attempt to get me upset or angry or some such nonsense. Unfortunately, while that probably normally works with the others of your ilk that you attempt to "troll" in too childish arguments, it really isn't going to be effective here, sorry. So please, feel free to continue to spew whatever bile you'd like. But it would be nice if you could do it in other threads and leave this one to the adults. Thanks.
  15. I can't guarantee it is heavily loaded with SMG squads. However, given the game settings chosen (infantry only, heavy woods, modest hills, rural) I am planning for what I believe to be the most likely eventuality. He likes SMG and fire throwers! I appreciate the tips and advice. I believe I chose a good mix of units to deal as best I can with the threat after reading what I have here. Now to see if I can out the advice in to practice. I'm well aware that even the best laid plans seldom survive contact with the enemy. I'm about to find out! Oh, edited to add, thanks for pointing out the ammo disparity. That was something I hadn't thought of/realized. This will help me be patient if I suffer some early losses.
  16. I won't get in to why I accepted the terms. Let's just accept the fact I did. Now, rather than lament the fact that it may be unfair, I'd rather see how well I can play and how competitive I can be. It's just a game, winning isn't everything.
  17. Unfortunately the settings for the game I am getting ready to start is infantry only, heavily wooded and rural. So I need to develop a plan of attack that gives me a chance, any chance. Yes, I realize I accepted settings that put me at a dsiadvantage, but I accept the challenge. Now I just need to find a way to make it competitive. I view it as a chance to try and play a superior game on a tactical level to overcome the inherant disadvantage. If it can't be done however, then I guess I'm screwed!
  18. Infantry-only early war battles invariably lead to the German player trying to overcome hordes of Soviet SMG squads, especially on a heavily wooded map. How does the German player overcome the immense close-range firepower of these units with nothing of equal firepower on the German side?
  19. My guess is that he is referring to the Band of Brothers site.
  20. Oddly enough CMAK runs on this machine. As did CMBO. So it is only CMBB which is an issue. Of course it's the one version I am trying to play. Figures.
