  1. Congratulations to the winners. I hope and trust that it was as fun for the players as the first ROWs were for me. Perhaps we need to institute a new rule for future tournamets about players with similar handles in the finals?
  2. Bump. Chicago remains above water, and although the Cubs are poised to bring the heartbreak this week, there are no other natural disasters looming. Holien is your man for the AAR issues, but otherwise if anybody has any questions, let me know. If anybody has any scores, pass them on. In the meantime, keep playing those games!
  3. I thought that minivan ownership results in a forfeiture of ability to be an arbiter of cool-ness.
  4. Section 9 has been sent all files and contact info. Let me know if anyone has not received the files.

  7. I'd post my list of remaining Replacement players, but then, there wouldn't be much point, would there? But thanks to everyone who served as a replacement and especially those who waited it out and didn't get the call-up. I'll be in touch in the near future with regard to some of the other topics we'd brought up during the last couple of months.

  10. Everyone should be trying to get as much of their games done as possible right now. Even in the event that a game cannot be finished on time, the closer you are to the end makes things better on any number of levels. We'll hear from Kingfish shortly, but in the meantime keep cranking out those turns this weekend as much as you possibly can.
  11. Cantigny is great, outside and inside the museum, too. There is a Patton on North Avenue in Northlake (I think - maybe this is the Pershing on Lake Street mentioned above), and a Stuart at a park in Maywood just off First Avenue. There is also an M-48 in West Chicago on Route 59.
  12. Replacement List Update: John Osborne, you are next, but it looks like my email to you may have been blocked by your spam settings. ON DECK: John Osborne In the hole: MG42 Next in order: Vorishilov herrbixx Enqvist sandy AC BigMik1 hartmn
  13. Replacement List update: Nestor got the callup today, so this is how it stands: ON DECK: Levitacus aka i.i.koshkin In the hole: John Osborne Next in order: MG42 Vorishilov herrbixx Enqvist sandy AC BigMik1 hartmn
  14. Not that it was any sort of precedent for the inclusion of the Calliope in CM, but I recall playing a little of Close Combat IV: Battle of the Bulge. I think I played through exactly one campaign, and I still recall the one time I was equipped with one. It was pretty damn fun, for whatever thats worth, producing uncontrollable giggling on this end as it tore up the Germans at about 250m. Of course, this proves absolutely nothing regarding historical usage.
  15. One more plug for the 'write the AAR as you go' method. Believe me, I've done them both ways, and its no contest.

  18. Replacement List as it stands: On Deck: Platonov In the Hole: Nestor I.I. Koshkin (a/k/a Levitacus) John Osborne MG42 Vorishilov herrbixx Enqvist sandy AC BigMik1 hartmn We have already sent two guys Reg Slaw and jbertles to the show. Note also that Reg Slaw jumped from No. 2 to in because of some technical problems that Platonov had but has apparently resolved. Lesson: If you get the call, be ready to step right in to restart stalled games, or else we will work down the list quickly. As always, if anybody has any questions, send me an email off list.

  21. One more bump, as I wonder if Platonov is paying attention...
  22. Replacement List: ON DECK: Platonov In the hole: RegSlaw Next in order: Nestor Levitacus John Osborne MG42 Vorishilov herrbixx Enqvist sandy AC BigMik1 Beyond that, there are some reliable vets to be called on. If anybody has a question about this, drop me an email off line. Everybody on the list should keep an eye on the thread as this thing gets going. They will vary, but you need to be ready to play large scenarios. See above if this is an issue for your email.
  23. Replacement List Update: On Deck: Platonov In the hole: Slawreg I have yet to hear from hartmn, stevebalance and marc420 regarding their willingness or desire to be on the list. If they are still interested, then they need to contact me in the next day, or else I'll assume they are out. Full list to come later this week. jbertles already got his marching orders, so the list has shrunk even before the tourney starts.
  24. Replacement List: I'm sending emails to the following: jbertles, Platonov Slaw Reg Nestor Levitacus John Osborne MG42 Vorishilov hartmn herrbixx stevebalance Enqvist sandy AC marc420 BigMik1 regarding the Replacements process. If any of you do not receive it, please email me. In the next couple of days I'll be setting the list. The intention is to use the running ROW threads to keep track of the need for replacements, and who is on-deck from the list. If anybody ever has any questions, please email me. The goal is for replacements to step in as quickly as possbile to kick-start stalled games. I am also aware that there is a small number of vets who, through varying degrees of Real Life and knuckleheadedness missed the signup period. I will email them offline in the near future regarding where they would stand on the list, although those that signed up but missed the cut will be first.
