    The focus shouldnt be pumping out another CMx2 title IMO. Anything Eastern should be packed with CMRT.
    I would love to see Fall Blau to Kursk, when the Germans were just beginning to get crushed. I think 1942-43 will offer a bit of everything, and would be pretty balanced too. BT-5, 7 and KV-1, KV-1S, wide range of vehicles. T-60 and T-70 tanks.
    Germans would have so much good kit too. 37mm at gun? Let's go!

    It will take less effort with equipment than Barbarossa, so 1943 will probably be the next iteration in the East.
    I'm looking more forward to crap tanks™ in 1941 though.

    I've not read the entire thread, so I could easily have missed this:
    More translucent colors for setup zones and target arcs,or a toggle to turn them off.

    I'm starting to think this war might be the end of NATO. Because the alliance was set up to defend against the Soviet Union, and later against the Russians.
    But if this is how the Russian Army fights, why do we need a huge alliance to defend against them?

    This all makes me so angry and I too, emotionally, want a No-Fly Zone or for NATO to hit back and hard!  Anything to help the Ukrainian Army and their people!!
    It's horrifying and I hate the helplessness of watching this go down.  I am happy, however, that the Javelins are working.

    And yet we, the West, are to blame. Divided and weak as we are, only interested in bigger economies and woke nonsense, while Putin prepared his moves, not even hiding it, but in plain sight. And it doesn't stop here. Mark my words, it's just the beginning.

    They don't have to retake it as be able to bring the right weapons to bear on the runway.
    The only way this is going to bring Putin down is with the deaths of Russian service personnel.
    I am truly saddened that we are hoping Ukraine will inflict the maximum damage on the Russian forces, yet those that put them in harms way will have hot meals and vodka in their dachas tonight, may hell truly exist and be visited upon the Dick"tator who has brought this upon the innocent.

    Not simple?  Hmmm  I remember the old days of memorizing 100 pages of war game rules, so to me these are pretty easy.
    ..as for enforceability.  You are correct, they aren’t enforceable.  If you have to worry about that then you need a new opponent.

    English??  we don't speak no english.  We speak american.  And it comes in lots of nice flavors.  I for one do not appreciate how those folks over on that little island have distorted my native language with all their funny talk.  I gotta use subtitles just to see what they are saying on the telly.

    Apologies in advance if this has been posted previously.  I did a search and wasn't able to find anything...
    I took a break and was away from the game and forum for several years, only returning 4-6 mmonths ago.  I've never posted a lot, but have always been around.  It occurred to me this morning that I didn't recall seeing any recent posts by Mr. Emrys.  So, I searched for Michael  on the forum and found that his last post was from April of 2020.  This revelation sent me to an internet search where I found the following from the Port Townsend Leader.

    A wild over-reaction to a reasonable post.  He has played other games in the series, gun runs are often repeated if there is ammo, perhaps he checked to make sure on youtube, perhaps not, but is he wrong?  Are you saying it already makes one pass only?  Or do you perhaps disagree with the reasoning?  Your post does not add anything but emotion.
    Furthermore, he didn't 'trash' the game at all, he made a simple post about finding out that a certain gun caused the firing aircraft problems and should perhaps be limited due to that, with the assumption it has not been already.  Where is the problem?  Your post and the completely unnecessary:
    Evoke schoolyard crap (in this instance a sidekick is peering over your shoulder) I see all too often around John's posts.  Some of you are sensitive to him/how he posts - fine.  I don't see it, I find his stuff largely informative and interesting, occasionally off the mark or over-stated, but I put that down to him being a human being, and it's something that can be critiqued without lowering yourselves to such off-putting bull****, it stinks up the place.

    Rake got a reaction from Lucky_Strike in CMFI [alpini] mod work in progress
    The icons are a mashup Bil's WW2 & NATO icons.  I did some for the Germans, Americans, CW and Soviets some time ago.  The difference is that I've given each nation their own color background...  Feldgrau for the Germans, Olive Drab for the U.S., CW Tan and the Russians Red.  Currently, I'm working on the Italians (flag colors, not the yellow used in many boardgames)
    The shared icons are a bit of a pain.  I plan on doing a set for each nation.  They would need to rotated in and out of the Z folder (or JSGME for those that use it) depending upon the nations involved.   The problem would occur when two allies fight together. One set of the shared icons would have to be used for both.
    Many apologies to Kohlenklau for hijacking his thread...

    Edit:  @Lucky Strike Rather than further hijacking this thread by posting an image, I tried to PM a sampler of my icons, but it wouldn't let me insert the image - I pasted the URL and... nothing

    Yeah, maybe.  Unlikely you would have time, but many Iraqi crews chose this route in 2003.  However, the 25mm is a very powerful gun.  In real life, if I hit that T-90 like LT Upham's crew did, I'd give it a 50/50 chance of disabling the vehicle.  A good gun or gun mount hit, a serious hit to the sights, a turret ring hit, drivers hatch, etc...  All are vulnerable to one degree or another on any MBT, even from the front.  I have friends who did just about exactly what Upham did in 2003 versus suddenly discovered T-72s, but with diametrically opposite results.  With 30+ hits, you get a lot of chances for a lucky hit.  You also have the strong possibility that the MBT crew won't hang tough to complete the engagement.

    LOL.  Well, I cannot address Harry Potter invisibility cloaks.  I'd say that either that is what the Soldier in your video has, or else the vid is simply doctored.  Scene is obviously an older, early war one, as the US response makes no allowance for secondary devices.  I know of no working, practical 'invisibility cloaks' that are effective against naked eye.  However, there are several fairly easy passive ways to offset thermal detection.  Much more feasible for men, rather than vehicles, although modern design does take thermal signature reduction into account.  Simple 'reverse polarity' tape that we use for target ranges affords fairly good outline disruption if cut into strips.  Doesn't mask ambient heat that soaks around it, but effective at moderate to longer ranges.  I quite literally assumed that our sniper teams (who have thermals of their own) are cognizant of this and have created suits that allow them to remain hidden.  However, such things are not in the game.  Maybe in a module.  I think there should be some sort of icon or UI indicator for thermal equipped units in game as well, but again, maybe in the module.

    Thanks Dan.  Perhaps I will.  I'm already a grade ahead of Harold Coyle I think - didn't he get out as a Major?  I actually read Team Yankee as a pre-release review copy when I was in high school, hence, Armor officer today.  I was already well on the way though.  My Dad was the Regimental SIGO for the 2nd ACR in Nuremburg back in the day.  Took me to Graf to watch the Regiment shoot a Combined Arms Live Fire exercise.  When I saw the tanks shoot I was hooked!    If I ever do write I might be crazy enough to try Sci-fi.  I corresponded with David Drake once upon a time.  If anyone out there hasn't read "Hammer's Slammers," let me make a shameless plug for it.  Best tanker Sci-Fi ever written, and top 10% in military sci-fi in general.  Someone had a 'reading list' thread floating in here somewhere if I recall.  Perhaps I should go lurk on it a bit.

    These are the params I tinkered with so far (ArmA Edit) and give some pleasent results on my particular machine:

    /*const*/ float AvgLumR = 0.3;
    /*const*/ float AvgLumG = 0.3;
    /*const*/ float AvgLumB = 0.3;

    fxaa_color = overlay(fxaa_color, vec3(0.33));

    fxaa_color = BrightnessSaturationContrast(fxaa_color, 1.0, 1.1, 1.1);

    gl_FragColor *= 1.05;

    Had to desaturate a bit again, as well as overall brightness. Contrast is a bit sensible, as too much will counter proper anti aliasing and yield jaggy edges. All trial and error, as I still have too little understanding of all that shader programming stuff.

    Overall the movie light shader slot is a good option for everyone to make his own prefered alternative shader, for which there are countless uses. Still needs lots of experimentation, particular with the not so obvious parameters.

    Need to figure out if any the parameters are responsible for the overly bright lighting of steep slopes in dusk and dawn TOD.

    Btw, there´s no difference between the CMBN and CMRT shader. Just few different comments and non used former options, that could be reused optionally.

    Does anybody know where the parameters are that switch artificially bright night lighting? I´d rather reverse the effect to dark night instead.

    Other files that offer modding opportunities could be any the bumpmapping, precip_shader and water_simple files.
