  1. At risk of facing the wrath of this great wargaming community, I would like to say just one thing about this gratefully appreciated bone...erm...Why does it seem to me that this blizzard is a little *gasp* weak in appearance? Surely in a blizzard we would have the lovely thick black smoke which is sofly billowing out of the blazing building in the background swirling lower, pouring out at almost at right angles as if it was really blowing forty bast**ds? Ok, so maybe I am not seeing it on the right angle but surely...a blizzard? It looks like a quiet Christmas night. Before I get taken out and bashed around the head with the bones that have been so generously given to us, can I say that regardless of the possible blizzard smoke shortcomings ...I will line up like the rest of us to get my hands on a copy of what will be an amazing game.
  2. Hi guys, I've recently acquired a Compaq Armada laptop with the following specs: Pentium II 266MHz processor, 97 MB RAM...and here's the crunch...a S3 ViRGE/MX Video card with only 4MB. Before I go through the 'trouble' and expense of installing Windows 98 over the top of the Windows NT 4.0 OS it has currently, I would like to know from someone who knows what CMBO would 'look' and play like with such a minimum video card. Regards, David
  3. Dad, I'm laughing..it's a great game, in fact, I'll go as far as to say it's the best war game ever made. Can't wait for CM2.
  4. Thanks Surly, I'll check them out. Regards, David
  5. Hello all, Does anyone out there have a list of the bmp files which cover the complete set of skies available? I downloaded Tiger's new skies several weeks ago and these don't float my boat so to speak... I'd really like my original skies back. Thanks in advance, David
  6. Hello Berlichten, I guess that would be too easy...but what I meant was all the rest of the coastal stuff which comes with a coastal tile...sand for example, maybe dunes...jetty. God knows, anything which one can associate with a coastal area. I guess after looking through Carrell's 'Operation Barbarossa - in pictures' I got thinking about what sort of Russian 'feel' CMBB would be able to give. Aside from all the pictures of Orthodox churches and the like, I was wondering what the coastline of some of these areas looked like. Anyway.
  7. No idea if this has been discussed and/or laughed out of town...but I am wondernig will they be modelled? There seem to be several instances where heavy fighting took place in and around coastal areas. Take the areas around the Baltic coast for example, Riga or Koningsberg...and how about the heavily fought over Crimean ports... Will there be the option to have the sea, or more specifically, the coast as either the focus for a victory location or exit point. Just curious.
  8. Hello All, Just wondering if there is a mod for the Nashorn around anywhere...considering the Wespe and Marder series have been done, I was hoping there would be a spiced up Nashorn somewhere. Anyone know of any sites which might host this mod? Thanks in advance
  9. yes, I had it sent under the guise of a CM mod file...love to get the prick who set this one loose, preferably in the sights of something high powered and messy.
  10. well, I'm freaking not laughing anymore with this news...
  11. sorry Paton, no Tiger in the Imperial war museum...what you saw was a Jagdpanther.
  12. Capt, AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...you've made some fine observations...dead dog...pool of waste, holy crap, what is the world coming to?
  13. Gonzo, I'd love to be able to quote the source(s)where this factual information comes from. I agree with you that for issues of clarity and historical accuracy that sources should be made available...but seeing that this particular lecture took place in deepest darkest New Zealand many years ago I am going on pure memory. All I can say is... just take my word for it

  15. The answer is B. Unkie Joe took in all political considerations realizing that a post-war communist Poland would be easier to control without the existence of the 'old guard' so to speak. To make sure of things good ol' Joseph wouldn't even let American/British supply planes destined for Warsaw use airbases in the newly liberated countries making them fly from bases in Italy instead. Heart of gold that man...

  17. who sat in a field and rotted because good ol' uncle Joe didn't sign the geneva convention. Oh what a lovely war.
  18. Olle, The supply truck filled to the hilt with ammo is a great idea...not only for the troops needing a top-up but also for the spectacular explosion it would create if hit by the opposing member. Spotting and killing the ammo truck would really throw the cat amongst the pigeons in a tight fight. I like it.
