  1. Iron_Duke!!! Are you sick? Ill? Fever? What is this map that I have recieved???? No towering hills. No knee deep mud. No sprawling city blocks. No blinding snow. I am concerned for your well being.
  2. Hey all, I currently have games going against Sock Monkey, Sajer, aka_tom_w, and Stalin's Organ. I have been real busy lately , but am getting about 1 turn out a day. I will be able to step it up a notch here for a bit. So, all those that are open for another game, let's hash out some details. Only concern I have is I am not a big red wine fan. I prefer the a good Washington state reisling now and again. But don't get me wrong, I am not going to allow KiwiJoe to pour it all in a bowl and go to town with cheese and crackers. BTW, aka_tom_w: Are you sure about wanting my game to count.
  3. The elusive Gyrene and I have chosen sides. So, let the battles comence!!
  4. Oh Hummmmm, just sitting around waiting for an opponent to show. BTW, Is it -200 pts/day or hour
  5. My Official respone: Player picks. Beware the wrath of 2's 2000 pts ----> 222 2"ers coming your way!!!! [ 06-28-2001: Message edited by: labappel ]
  6. Things have been real busy here. I come back to the board to face pages and pages of catch-up and a question as to what I prefer. This question eluded me for a bit, until I went back 4 pages. So, I would vote for player picks. I like to look over the terrain and determine what force would be useful. In my last battle with Stoffel, we were in a town with a Cathedral in the center. In this case infantry won the day. And a few wasps. So, with these "unorthodox", but very enjoyable maps, I think player selection is key.
  7. You cannot restore it to a TCP/IP game. You can, however, switch to PBEM and finish it that way. Just load up the autosave as a PBEM and start from there. I have not been able to convert back to TCP/IP even after playing a few turns. Had to finish PBEM.
  8. Every time I have been able to destroy a burning building, it has become a burning rubble tile. This will then block LOS.
  9. This is going to be great! I do have a suggestion for the group. At TH there is also a "Random Map Generator". Players input names, rules, and size. The generator will then post the side, Allied or Axis, and the map parameters. This would allow for some variation in the setups. And allow randomness for side selected. I am not sure if your oppenent must be a member to use this feature. Any comments?
  10. You will not be able to "engage deeper targets" because the rubble tile that is generated from the demolished building will be on fire. Effectively blocking your LOS.
  11. I agree that the most important factor in this new league will be agreeing with each other ahead of time. Once both players say "yes", then it is a CAL game. But, I would really like to see lists of choices for what can be selected on different dates, possibly "premade" OOB's. The reason is that I am not, by any means, able to pick an accurate "historical" force. I am a lover of wargames not really of history. This would allow us to play an opponent and agree on a date, then both would select a force off the list. Have a certain number of points to add a little variation. Each player would keep the selection secret until the end of the game. Yes, this would probably take alot of work by people that know WWII. And they almost certainly will make no money. It would be alot like getting a third party to put together force selections for a battle without having to find the third party. -Labappel
  12. I have joined the CAL. Not sure how it will work in the long run but gonna give it a try. I thought I would give my thougts. 1. I would like to see OOB's available from a pool of choices. Possibly done for each of the different months and point totals, maybe 10 choices for each side. Give the player a list of what they should pick and then maybe a portion of points available to customize a little. This would require some work by someone with knowledge of historical OOB's. 2. Also if mixing Airborne troops with Regular Army in the same nationality is allowed, Why would anyone take the British rifle platoon? It is the same price for more firepower and added gamma bombs. All in all, I think the CAL will be a good thing, especially when everything gets worked out.
  13. I also think that using one nationality, regular branch and airborne branch, would make the game much more playable. The same would go for the Germans as their paratroopers fought alongside regular Heer troops during the war.
