Would love to see upgrade of CMBS with more unit types.  Is it possible to have bigger maps?  I like huge battalion level engagements with long and short range action, recon, variable terrain, etc...  5K x 4K is big but I'd like to see several K larger.  Also more dust, smoke, and haze.  One can dream.  Great game though.  Thanks, Battlefront.

Here is a video showing how a 76mm tank shell flies to target. Captured with a high speed camera.
The movement of the shell is not exactly what you might expect.

Uh, little bit early to be talking about this...

However, if I recall correctly, it's been said that Black Sea might be the next game to get a module after FI and RT. As for Shock Force 2, it's also been said that it would not be getting post-release content, the title is meant to reflect the amount of work involved in the "modernization" of Shock Force, it's considered a complete package as it is.

The copy, rotate and paste feature would be a blessing for certain. Always wanted to 'paste' my Carpiquet map to the southern edge of Rocko's 'Canadian Corridor' map. One big map from Juno Beach to Carpiquet Airfield.
The latter part of your statement can sort of half be done already. Save a copy of the master map and then trim down the edges from the map size bar. Not perfect but you can cut out slices of existing work to expand in another direction or build a scenario on top of.
Edit: Oh and spend the time on developing AI plans at least for one side. The scenarios that got downloaded the most over at CMMODS back when it had a download counter were those that allowed for SP play.

I know this has been mentioned and discussed 58-ish times before but a little reminder every now and then nerver hurts 😉
As mentioned above...mapdesign is usually a rather lenthy process. Especially with larger, huge maps. Not only with regards to the elevation but also 'the painting of the terrain'
I agree that the time-commitment to produce a high quality map is probably one of the reasons for the limited number of scenarios being made. There are ways to improve this though. As mentioned before...

Please BFC give us a copy, rotate, paste feature to the map designer. Combine this with a way to import/export (load/save) designated mapsections.

If we as the mapdesigners could load something like 20, 30 or more different farm complexes,  simular number of small villages, river/stream sections with appropiate vegitation, different kinds of forrest sections, urban sections etc, etc and rotate these as desired, place them on the map and if neccesary edit them further ones in place.
The time require to design those larger maps would be seriuosly reduced.

    This.
At least one major scenario, utilising the full capabilities of Engine 4 (& then some) is imminent (courtesy of the mighty @MOS:96B2P).....Testing for that project started on January 30th (for me at least).
I've got several projects in the works (including a 2p only one that's very near completion, but which will need thorough testing before release), however all of them are set on large re-jigged CM:SF1 maps which featured fake rivers or seas.....They now have real rivers & seas, but the process of making those changes affects the entire topography of the map (fake rivers and seas can have multiple elevations, real ones can't).  It's amazing how much time it can take just to restore the general lie of the land (on maps of over 6Km2), let alone adding in all the new terrain types and flavour objects.

The game does a very good job of simulating ERA. If you look at the model, you will see the ERA bricks gone due to the hit. It's a life saver -- provided the enemy hits you in the right spots.

When CMSF2 was released I played one of the demo scenarios as Syrians. I remember hitting AI controlled Bradley several times with a RPG and wondering why I couldn't destroy it.
It seems this was modeled correctly in the game, reactive armor was the magic behind this:

One thing I have been wondering: would it be unrealistic if your units got some basic intelligence data from helicopters when helicopters are doing an air strike to some area where your units do not have line of sight?  I mean situations like when your own units are located on one side of a hill, the helo air strike happens to the other side of the hill that your units can't see. If helicopters can target enemy units there couldn't they share something about what they see on the other side of the hill?   Like "3 tanks and some infantry". And this would add enemy symbols to the map, the same way as when recon drones fly over some area.

Eadweard Muybridge was doing a version of this exact thing, starting in 1872. It would not have been fast enough for a shell in flight of course (there are birds!), but it is what got us there, by doing exactly the aforementioned method. That film was slow in terms of relative sensitivity to light versus what was even available in the 1940's. This resulting set of consecutively made still images would later be able to be viewed with a zoopraxiscope- which is in essence a flip-book method of pre-cinema motion.

Quite a few years ago I was watching a documentary on slo-mo technology when they showed something that really got my attention. It was a film of a 17pdr shot in flight and the way they went about filming it was rather ingenious. Instead of trying to film it with a single high speed cine camera, they used a series of still cameras set up along the trajectory of the shot and then edited all those photos into one continuous movie lasting several seconds. The thing that struck me was how dramatically the shot wobbled in flight. It was well known that the APDS round had poor accuracy, and here was the reason before my very eyes. Eventually the discarding sabot separation problem was solved yielding today's DS rounds tack driving accuracy. I notice that the 76mm round in the linked film wobbles a little too, but nothing like as much as the 17pdr I saw.

All right, it's obviously a stunt, for those are WW II era 250 lb bombs (really, casings), and we use nothing like them today on our planes.

There's that old Murphy's law: "The complexity of a weapon is inversely proportional to the IQ of the weapon's operator."
One of the advantage of modern electronics is that it gets rid of moving parts. Adding complex systems and software that are not reliable enough for the consumer market is a hard sell, right now.
    Speaking of which:

I read this thing preformed horribly. They had serious issues remote controlling it even at close ranges, with no ECM. It could be user error, or maybe a shoddy design -- but it's an interesting precedent.

Not certain how this one preformed, but I think it's a good idea.
