  1. What is the allied equivalent of SMG squads or smgs. Everytime I'm in close combat with the allies I seem to lose. These SMGs are awesome at close quarters, but do the allies have an equivalent? Help me out guys!
  2. Can't help you. Maybe it says when you press enter on a squad that carries them.
  3. I don't think you can. I read somewhere that they are hard coded and cannot be changed but I could be wrong. I've been wrong before.
  4. What's with all the talk of Civ2. Civilization is an okay game. Diplomacy is useless but overall it's not bad. I think most people think it's the greatest of all time is because it's the most well known. If I had to pick the greatest game of all time I would have to say Railroad Tycoon. Of course my dad says Master of Orion but I'm not sure it could be a tie.
  5. Once it took three penetrating hits to take out a Stug III. 8 Jumbo Shermans with 76mm guns fired at it and it said front upper hull penetration, front upper hull penetration and then front upper hull penetration knocked out. One tough Stug. Another time I shot a bazooka into the rear of a Panzer Mark IV from about 50 meters and it said rear upper hull penetration but it didn't knock it out. I also had that in Valley of Trouble just the other day. A Bazooka fired right into the Side of the panther from about 10 meters and I got side upper hull penetration but it didn't knock it out so this seems quite common. How common was it in real life?
  6. There is a chance that Fighter Bombers will not show up. If they do show up you can hear their engines and see their shadow pass over the battlefield. They can either fire rockets, drop bombs or strafe infantry. If you click on a unit that is being targeted by a plane it will show a line going up towards the plane. Fighter Bombers can also be shot down by AA assests. I hope this helps you. Have Fun!
  7. Where in Calgary is this Churchhill Crocodile located? I would love to go to see it.
  8. I'm not sure what wargame was my first. I used to play alot of pirates and x-com when I was young but I remember buying Perfect General II and that game was fantastic. I also played a lot of the close combat series before I got Combat Mission.
  9. Yes the next combat mission takes place on the Eastern Front. It takes place during the years of 1941-1945 I believe and will feature Germans, Soviets and Finns.
  10. seems to me if you look at the blast value for this uberweapon it's twice the amount of any other weapon in the game and I'm wondering why is that? This weapon is so powerful that three of them caused over 150 casulties against the computer. In fact I won tbat QB with a total victory with only 22 casulties and the computer had 196 casulties. Talk about destructive power.
  11. I can think of several Games that reached Perfection hmmm.. let's see X-com Ufo Defense X-com Terror from the Deep RailRoad Tycoon RailRoad Tycoon2 Master of Orion Master of Orion 2 Freespace 2 Pirates! I own Civnet and Civ2 but after playing them for a while you realize that they're not very good. Diplomacy is useless, people keep landing on your island and it was okay for a while but the games tend to get very repetitive because you're always fighting.
  12. I had a few american squads take out a German Lynx a while ago. They got real close to tank then they started throwing grenades and yellow bundles at it. Then after a couple of seconds the tank was knocked out.
  13. In regards to Major Tom, I get my information from history books, biographies and reference books. I am sure there are exceptions where Monty actually showed some intelligence and thought on his feet but those were few and far between. Somewhere I read that Monty had said that he won Battle of the Bulge when he hadn't arrived there yet. Market Garden was a terrible idea from the beginning because there was only one road leading all the way to Arnhem. Even if Market Garden had succeded it still cost the Allies a lot. They lost a lot of men, weapons and supplies. Also a lot of their supplies went to Germans because the Germans had captured the Landing Zones. When Monty thought up the plan for Market Garden he thought it was going to be a cakewalk. They disregarded intelligence, i.e those tiger tanks that were shown under cover of trees. It just had too many flaws and what ifs to be successful. Now take the greatest General, i.e General Douglas Macarthur, he thought his plans out with precision, he knew where to strike, what the enemy's weakness was and so on so forth. Monty just couldn't see that, he was a slow general and he didn't see the Big Picture, he only saw the small picture. He never really thought ahead he was only concerned with the now. Going back to Patton, sure he made mistakes sometimes like slappping that soldier because he thought he was a coward but he didn't make too many of those. In order to be a damn good general you have to be able to see the big picture, you have to be able to seize opportunities when they are presented to you but Monty couldn't. Instead of doing Market Garden he could have focused his resources on getting Antwerp or helping Patton instead of hindering him. ------------------ Lord Dreaman master of Dreams
  14. While I agree Patton was a gloryhog sometimes. He was superior to Monty because he took what he had and he did what he did best is kick German Ass. While Monty was buttkissing up to Eisenhower and building up his forces, Patton was kicking ass. Many people think Monty was great and he was in terms of politics but he sucked as a general. When an opportunity came he didn't take advantage of it. He couldn't think on his feet, he was too slow for modern war, he always prevented other people from doing their jobs because he was a gloryhog and a stuckup. He thought he was superior to Eisenhower. In terms of Market Garden I agree with Michael, they wasted a lot of men, weapons, fuel and supplies in Market Garden and accomplished nothing. It seems like Monty and Patton were opposites. On one hand you have Patton who ate the Germans for Breakfast, was always advancing rapidly and hated politics. In fact Patton was always running out of fuel because he was always pushing foward and killing Germans. Then you have Monty who took his time, advanced slowly, except in cases where he could show of or take credit, loved politics because he was always sucking up and buttkissing and he had most of the fuel. ------------------ Lord Dreaman master of Dreams
