  5. dmg, When do you think that we, the Battlefront customers, will get the patch with the "crash after closing the application on ATI video cards" fixed ? Thank you very much for the support. I am really looking forward to new patches and addons for ToW !!! Txema
  6. Hammer, I am also having problems of video signal dying within a few minutes of starting game play in ToW. I own an ATI 1950XT AGP video card. Could you please tell us which are the key changes you made to the video card configuration to solve the problems?? I have tried some changes in my card but I have had no success... Thank you very much for your help !!! Txema

  8. I have read in the web page that 1C has for Theatre of War: http://ww2.games.1c.ru translation: http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fww2.games.1c.ru%2F&langpair=ru%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF8 that they have recently released the Update 1.6.0.59 for Theatre of War. It seems that this update fixes, among other things, the problem with the ATI cards. When are you going to release that patch at Battlefront.com? Can we use that patch in the TOW version published by Battlefront? Thank you very much for your help !!! Txema
  9. ATI has released a hotfix for their latest drivers: http://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&questionID=27293 Although the hotfix addresses an issue with Armed Assault, ATI recommends that even XP users who do not play ArmA install this newer version. 10. Wolfseven, Thank you very much for the information. It's great news !!! Can you confirm that using the new 7.5 drivers, and an ATI X1950 card, you are getting good frame rates in TOW even with the SHADOWS on?? Txema
  11. Madmatt, I have read in the forums that some of the new graphic cards have improtant preformance issues when the SHADOWS option in on in TOW. Actually, in the Troubleshooting Guide, you even recommend to turn off in-game Shadows to the people that has performance problems. Have you been able to fix the problems with the shadows and the new graphic cards with the new patch? Thank you very much for your help. Looking forward to the patch !! Txema
  12. Thank you very much for all your detailed answers. I really appreciate them !!! It seems that Wolfseven is the only one that is experiencing important difficulties with the ATI X1950 card in TOW. The rest of the users seem quite happy with the card in TOW. Am I rigth? Wolfseven , have you tried the latest ATI drivers? http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html Reichenberg , Have you been able to figure out, which of the AA, AF or Catalyst AI setting it is, that causes the problem? Thank you very much again for all your help !!! Txema
  13. Has anybody tried them? How do they work in TOW? Do they solve problems? Get them here: http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html Enjoy !!! Txema
  14. I am thinking about upgrading my computer with a ATI X1950 (AGP) graphic card. I have read in other thread in this board (Topic: Sapphire ATI x1600pro 256mb) that some players are having problems with this card when running TOW (TOW seems to be running with very low FPS). Is anybody running TOW with a ATI X1950 graphic card satisfactorily?? Which CPU and operative system are you using? I was thinking about buying that card to improve TOW... I can't believe it is giving very low FPS in TOW :-( Txema
  15. Moon, Thank you very much for these posts. They are really usefull !! Let me ask one question about the effect of trees on the LOS: When the LOS is calculated from one unit to other unit, and there is a tree between them that can affect the LOS, is the exact contour of the tree taken into account including the tree trunk and the top (branches and leaves), or is the whole tree considered as an entity with just a rectangular contour, in such a way that the contour taken for LOS calculatios has constant width and is wider than the tree trunk? 16. SIO, I have been able to run the dual processor - four core AMD computer under Windows XP SP2 (it is a dual boot system, and when you start the system you can choose between Windows XP 64 bits and Windows XP SP2). The point is that when running under Windows XP SP2, and I right-click on a process and Open the “Set Affinity…” menu, I can see a list of 4 available processors (CPU 0, CPU 1, CPU 2, CPU 3). Now to make the process run on a single core, I have to keep checked 1 of the marks, and I have to leave unchecked the rest of the marks. So my previous comments about having only 3 available processors in the “Set Affinity…” menu were due to the Windows XP 64 bits operative system. Txema
  17. SIO, - I run the computer as ADMINISTRATOR, but I can see only 3 "switchable" cores. - I pressed OK after I switched all 3 available cores off, and it still didn't tell me the "The process must have affinity with at least 1 processor" message. Please, take into account that the operative system is Windows XP 64 bits (not Windows XP SP2). Perhaps the interface changes sligthly in the 64 bits operative system ?? Txema
  18. I have just realized that I can answer to your last question: - did the system allow you to really uncheck all the marks? It should have given you "The process must have affinity with at least 1 processor" message. Or it haven't? The system allows me to uncheck all the marks (the three marks in my case) without problems, and by doing so it runs the process in just one core. I have never seen the message "The process must have affinity with at least 1 processor". However it is important to take into account that our system runs under Windows XP 64 bits, and that I have used it just with numerical simulation programs, and not with TOW... Txema
  19. SIO, I am sorry but I don't own the Dual processor - four core AMD Opteron computer, I just use it at a laboratory at work to do heavy numerical simulations. My company owns the computer, so I can not install Theatre of War in it. I would like to test it, but unfortunately it is not possible... I have TOW installed at home in my AMD64 4000+ single core computer, and it is running it without problems. Txema
  20. However, the quality of the textures, shading and ilumination seems better in the screenshots posted by flintlock. flintlock, are your screenshots straight from TOW, or are you applying some kind of post-processing? Could you please tell us which Graphic card, drivers and settings are you using to get those excellent screenshots? I would love to get that image quality in my computer, and I am ready to buy a new graphic card... I think I want a card similar to the one you are using !!! Txema
  21. ************************************************ Originally posted by SIO: ........................... 5) Right-click on the tow.exe and open “Set Affinity…” menu. A list of available processors appears (CPU 0, CPU 1, CPU 2, ...). Those used by TOW are checked. 6) Uncheck all the marks except the first one (doing this, we expect you to leave only the CPU 0, but who knows... that’s what we are trying to determine). ************************************************* I have used at work a computer that has two AMD Opteron processors, each of them with two cores. Therefore the computer is a dual processor - 4 core system, having a total of 4 cores. The computer is running under Windows XP 64 bits. When I right-click on a process and Open the “Set Affinity…” menu, I can see a list of 3 available processors (CPU 0, CPU 1, CPU 2), although the computer has 4 cores. The point is that to make the process run on a single core, I have to uncheck ALL the marks. If I check just one of the CPUs (CPU 0, for example), then the process will run on the default core plus an extra core (CPU 0), and therefore in two cores simultaneously. If I check the 3 CPUs, then the process will run on the default core plus the 3 extra cores, and therefore in the four cores simultaneously. Therefore, at least in my work's system, to make a process run in a single core, ALL the CPU marks must be unchecked in the “Set Affinity…” menu!!! Txema
  22. Well, in my opinion it will be very usefull to have a tool that helps the player to understand how the LOS/LOF calculations are being done. I would like to give that tool a chance, to try to understand properly the logic used for the LOS/LOF calculations. Developers, go for it !!! And thank you very much for all the support !!! Txema P.S. I like TOW, and I am sure that the LOS/LOF calculation tool will help me to enjoy this game much more.
