1. Problem solved. Thanks for all the replys. I think it was the updates that did it.
2. Nope, that's not it. I unzipped them. But thanks for the response. I haven't downloaded the updates so maybe that's the problem.
3. I just made the plunge to CMBB and want to add some really cool player made scenarios I have found. Is there a trick to it? I saved them in the scenario's folder and they don't appear. I saved them in the saved games folder and they don't appear. Yes, I double-checked them to make sure they where CMBB scenarios and everything about the description of what they are to where I found them on the net points to that. What am I doing wrong?!?!
4. Hey! Thanks for the quick response. I was actually coming back here to send another message out that I found several lists (I didn't see the archives down there the first time!) I came to the same conclusion that the weather is probably not bmp files. Thanks for the tip. I'm gonna try that!
5. I recently dusted off the ol game and went to play the classic "Fear in the Fog." I must have tweaked the bmp's a long time ago because i get no fog! I did the ol <Alt> W (or is it <Shift> W) LOL I know I did the right one because I read it off of the help menu. Anyway. It didn't work. I'm thinking I deleted the bmp's or replaced them or something and have long lost the originals (save on the cd itself) basically I want to try to just restore the fog if possible. Come to think if it. Is it even a bmp?!?!! Thanks for any help you can give! PS I tried a search but came up blank.
6. A valid tactic when the proverbial dukie has hit the fan. In my long, illustrious career in CMBO I've had to resort to that tactic three times that I can remember. Currently my record is Infantry: 2 and Tanks: 1. (Panzerfaust's where not involved in any of the encounters. Just ol fashion grenades) Am I to understand that they do not tend to do this in CMBB. BTW, I haven't played CMBB and really don't intend too. I was never a big fan (for lack of a better term) of the Eastern Front.
7. I've noticed in the past that when I use the hunt/reverse command my tank will take a few shots and then back down the hill if the target is dead or not. I know Shermans tend to back up (unordered) when they see a Tiger, hehehe. Maybe it has something to do with that. Although, now that I think of it, it's happened when I'm playing the German side too. Either way it works out good.
8. I agree about the desparation attack, but sometimes it's all you have. With that said, if you ever have to do it. I've used the split squad command with some success. The down side is one of the teams tend to break easily and usually get dead fast. The up side is if you time it right, someone gets to the tank and at least has a chance of killing it. DON'T TRY IT WITH GREEN TROOPS THOUGH! I used this tactic awhile ago to get a pesky Sherman that attempted and end around on a immobile jagr that was giving him fits. Sherman 0, Infantry 1.
9.
quote:
Originally posted by Ron Lee: Hey you guys about destroying armor with infantry, none of you seem to considering the crew moral of the AFV. If this can be lowered enough, then the crew of the AFV would abandon the vehicle.

Where is the command for shouting nasty things at the tank crews?
10. I once had and unfortunate encounter with a Panzer IVH. It was unfortunate because I only had a Greyhound to deal with the threat. Without getting into the specifics of the encounter, I KO'ed the Panzer with 1 shot. Penetrating the turret and killing the tank. Funny, that one kill completely turned the outcome of the battle around. [ 10-06-2001: Message edited by: nedlam ]
11. I use daisy-chain mines to make my opponent go in a direction I want him to go. (i.e. usually around them) where I have set up the real thing. Or by placing them in the road you force your opponent to move off the road and possibly into the mud, scattered trees, or brush where he might become immobilized. I also us it to try to get my opponents to fall right into a AT ambush. Nedlam
12. I recently played a PBEM where we both had a fair ammount of artillery to play with. The deciding factor (IMHO) was he was stuck out in the open (more or less), where I was hunkered down in a village. Sure after a few turns the buildings started falling down around us but in the end he took the worst of it. So stay in the woods some cover is better than no cover at all. You might suffer some casualties but the overall moral of the unit has a better chance of staying intact. Nedlam
13.
quote:
Originally posted by dalem: C'mon, a cinder block held over my head by someone who wants my wallet is a "terror weapon". A weapon is a weapon, and being terrified of any one of them is quite a rational decision. Let's not assist in the complication of the language to no purpose, hmm? This isn't the six o'clock news. -dale

Your right, of course. What I was trying to say by a weapon of terroris you'll have a better chance to get a large number of troops to duck and cover with arty then say with a MG unit or even a platoon of infantry. Hehehe, now that I think about it the term "terror weapon" does sound like something you would hear on CNN.
14. I've just never had much success with on board mortars before. Then again, maybe that's the 1st time I use them correctly
15. Rockets are kind of a weapon of terror IMHO. Come to think of it, artillery in general are terror weapons. If I'm not mistaken, they are cheaper to buy and you get bigger caliber rounds, but you give up accuracy. Oh, MrSpkr, the only dumb question is the one you don't ask. Can't we all just get along?
