Vergeltungswaffe reacted to EZ in ezCMBN German Uniform Mod
Hello,
I found an old template of some US Uniforms and clean it up some, it Mods all US Uniforms except the tanker Uniform. So, it's an alternative to some of the other mods.

Vergeltungswaffe got a reaction from George MC in German small unit armoured tactics 1944, 'PART 4: Techniques – methods of undertaking movement tasks by tanks in combat’
My line actually comes from an ancient Saturday Night Live skit, long ago when it was actually funny.
We used to employ it on this forum way back in the day.

Hi Guys
I have uploaded the campaigns into The Scenario Depot under a single zip file. On my return from family commitments on Monday I will upload the map pack for you all to enjoy. Good work Frank!

Vergeltungswaffe reacted to George MC in German small unit armoured tactics 1944, 'PART 4: Techniques – methods of undertaking movement tasks by tanks in combat’
This is ‘PART 4: Techniques – methods of undertaking movement tasks by tanks in combat’ of the short longer than originally planned series giving an overview of the tactical fundamentals and principles behind WWII German tactical drills and combat formations commonly used in 1944 using examples from Combat Mission Red Thunder to illustrate key points.
In Part 4 we look at the specific ‘battle drills’ and associated movement techniques used by the German tank platoon to gain superiority in a firefight with enemy forces.
Part 5 will be looking at training programmes etc and jeezo, was that a rabbit hole...
Hopefully this will be of use to both players and thsoe interested in this time period. It was originally intended to complement the tank tactical problem series I created.
As an aside when you start digging into this is becomes even more painfully clear how a dogged emphasis doctrinally and values wise on "unexpected, concentrated and determined attack; aggressive leadership and daring operations." coupled with increasingly minimally trained crews (and training hampered by lack of resources both human and material), and just as importantly, tank and small unit commanders, would only lead to needless losses.

Vergeltungswaffe reacted to Brille in Which is better, the Bren or MG42? A debate almost as old as the weapons themselves
Nothing substantial here but boy that is frightening. And yeah, soldiers most likely would not have been firing this way if not in immense panic or danger but still...

Vergeltungswaffe reacted to Erwin in Views on Ukraine situation from around the world
And another timely one on Ukraine graft:
https://www.wsj.com/world/eggs-ammo-and-underwear-inside-ukraines-new-push-against-military-graft-8b47b6d9?mod=world_lead_pos2
KYIV, Ukraine—Masked Ukrainian security officers have raided properties, seized wads of cash and detained suspects in a recent crackdown on graft in the purchase of goods for the military ranging from eggs to artillery shells.
As Ukraine faces setbacks on the battlefield in the third year of Russia’s invasion, attention has turned to corruption that is corroding support for the war effort at home and abroad.
The appointment of Bezrukova follows a series of procurement scandals that erupted after Ukrainian investigative journalists revealed the Defense Ministry had purchased eggs at more than twice their market price. President Volodymyr Zelensky fired the country’s defense minister in an effort to quell a furor in Ukraine and disquiet among Western allies.
Since then, law enforcement has carried out a number of corruption-related arrests. Among the most high-profile cases is that of businessman Ihor Hrynkevych, whose companies won contracts to supply clothing and underwear to the armed forces despite previously being involved in construction.
The companies weren’t able to meet the standards outlined in the contracts, resulting in losses of more than $30 million, according to Ukrainian law enforcement. Hrynkevych was detained in December while trying to pay a $500,000 bribe to a security official. His lawyer didn’t respond to a request for comment.
A separate investigation by Ukrainian law enforcement implicated senior defense ministry officials in embezzling $40 million meant to purchase artillery shells for the army.

Vergeltungswaffe reacted to Anthony P. in SU 100 - Spotting
I saw this and immediately thought of this thread again:
It seems we can actually cite historical precendence for tankers mounting grunts (that came out wrong) on their tanks for spotting!

Vergeltungswaffe reacted to WimO in CM:BN Screenshot Thread #2
I play CMBN every day. Usually playing through CMBN's campaigns co-operatively with a friend at the rate of two moves per day. Playing co-op is a great simulation since you have control of only half of the force and personalities differ. Lots of fun.

Death of a Panther
Minaev's T-34 stalks an unsuspecting Panther that has just shot up his platoon mates.
He spots and fires first, narrowly missing the Panther.
The Panther panics and starts to reverse...
Minaev's gunner adjusts his aim whilst the loader slams another shell into the breech.
Minaev's gunner does not miss the second shot. A flash and the Panther starts to burn...

Vergeltungswaffe reacted to dragonwynn in Arghandab River Valley, Afghanistan Master Map
A few more very quick screenshots of the map progress. It's getting closer. When done, if there are any Afghanistan vets on the forums I would like to send the map to you to take a look at and recommend any improvements. I have tried to create a realistic map of this region as possible but I am open to any suggestions. As mentioned above nearly every meter of the map has micro terrain to battle through.

Vergeltungswaffe reacted to Mr.X in First fanmade CampaignPack "Summer of Destruction" is released (no charge)
A few notes:
1. Many thanks to everyone who takes the trouble to send me kind emails with the first battle reports from the Eastern Front. I look forward to every AAR 👍
2. In order to avoid unnecessary confusion, I have sent the promised 20 mastermaps to @Bootie today, who promised to make the maps available for download in the near future. Thank you @Bootie 🙏
3. So far only one player has written to me that there were a few crashes in the scenarios (especially chapters I and II) that involve a lot of fortifications (trenches, barb wire etc.) --It seems as if this is a specific, individual problem for this PC 🙏 .
Otherwise, I haven't heard of any technical problems (just like during the test phase). But if such problems arise, please feel free to get in touch.
4. If any player from my mail list is still missing the CampaignPack - please let me know, too. Actually I shouldn't have forgotten anyone, but you never know...😬
5. And if someone else would like to have the CampaignPack sent - contact me via PM or mail👍
I always try to respond within 1-2 days.
Regards
Mr.X

Vergeltungswaffe reacted to Thewood1 in FIX THE BOGGING ALREADY!
Just ran the CMRT scenario twice. Ran the Germans and Russians all the way across the maps at normal speed. There are about 50 vehicles on each side. Mostly I got them to avoid each other.
Summary: Across two runs, One M3 scout car immobilized, two halftracks immobilized. Had two halftracks bog entering a wood line, but they quickly cleared.
Not very statistically significant, but somewhat directional. That's less than 2% and all three immobilized were wheeled or halftrack offroad.

Cannot duplicate the results you seem to have had.

Vergeltungswaffe reacted to Thewood1 in FIX THE BOGGING ALREADY!
There are players that go on and on about wanting realism. But then anything close to realism smacks them in the face and suddenly its not fun any more. Recent spotting and bogging discussions are front of mind.

Vergeltungswaffe reacted to Centurian52 in FIX THE BOGGING ALREADY!
So I think this isn't so much a case of Combat Mission incorrectly modeling reality, as yet another case of people having incorrect expectations of reality. Just like all the spotting complaints.
