  1. Ok, got it to work by re-installing, installing the latest phyx drivers from nvidia, setting directx to 9.0c and lowering video resolution to 1024x768 Now the next problem. During the first training mission the controls worked fine, then replaying the mission or trying another mission, i've no rudder control. It didn't just stop working, it just got worse and worse until there was no control. It's not mission related as this started during the second attempt at the first training mission, now there's no control in any of the available missions. Tried different keys, no luck.
  2. Same problem here Win 7 x64 ultimate core2 duo 2.66Ghz 2 GB RAM ATI radeon HD 4550 with the latest drivers Tried doing as suggested, no luck tried running in compatibility mode, no luck. here's what the event log throws up.. 3. German Skijäger and Gebirgsjäger are my pet subject, as is the 20 Gebirgs Armee's campaign in Finland. For those interested the Germans made quite extensive use if ski troops on the squad to batallion level during the winter. They even created a division, the 1 Skijäger Division which grew from the 1 Skijäger Brigade. There were also several independent Jäger batallione formed too. The divisions of the 20 Geb. Armee equipped large numbers of troops with ski's. They were used during the winter months for patrolling and assaults, it is after all the only way to get about in deep snow. The attack method used by Finns and i suppose the Germans too was to advance as close as possible to the enemy on ski's then at the last minute, kick them off for the final assault on foot. I have some video footage of German ski troops assaulting Soviet positions with the support of Hotchkiss H-39 beute-panzers in 1942. If CM2 is to include the fighting in the far North then Finns, Russians and Germans (mostly Austrians actually) should all have the opportunity to be ski equipped. One last point. The W-SS troops fighting in this theater (SS.Inf. Rgt 9 and SS. Division 'Nord') should have the experience level of 'Green' at very least in 1941. They took a severe hammering for their inexperience and incompetence during their first months in combat. If anybody would like to read further on the German Skijäger then i recommend the book 'Die Deutschen Skijäger' by georg Gunter. published in 1993 by Podzun-Pallas verlag. regards Simon
  4. I know the thread has nothing to do with CM but hey what the hell. As an expat living in Norway i for one dream of the prices at home in England let alone in the states. Remember Norway is the land of £4 a pint and spirits only available from a state run off-licence of which there aren't many (no wonder moonshine is so popular). As for cars, even second hand models 5-6 years old cost the earth. A real socialist system where mr and mrs average get hammered by taxes and duty and people get more than enough money to live on from the state if they can't be bothered to work. Jail sentences are a laugh too, if i were Ted Bundy the absolute worst i would get here would be 21 years in a comfortable cell with cable TV, the chance to get a good education, weekend home visits and out in 14 if i'm a good boy. Here's the CM bit. It cost me around £14 in duty and 'handling fees' when i went to pick up the game from my local post office. Simon BTW, the BBC are running the same PC gone mad story as mentioned above. The idea was that 'British' harks back to our imperial days and is thereby racist...loonacy
  5. Juha Yep it is a question of defenition, come of the country's territory was and is occupied but the country itself wasn't as a whole. But you Finns have every right to hold your heads high, you played a difficult hand well. Mannerheim stuck to his guns and refused to go further than to recapture lost territory. With regard to Tirpitz, she wasn't sunk in a fjord but capsized off the Island of Håkøya near Tromsø on 12th Nov. 44 after being hit at least twice by Lancasters from 617 (dambusters) and 9 Sqdn carrying 12,000Lb 'Tallboy' bombs. Look forward to Finns against Germans in CM2 harrying the German rearguard retreating towards Skibotn in Norway. BTW the last German troops left Finnish soil just 10 days or so before the end of the war, near Kilpisjarvi.
  6. First off, Britain had its Channel Islands occupied between 1940 and 45. Also Finland lost a large chunk of territory to the Soviets which they haven't got back, Petsamo for example. TRENCHES: Were used extensively by both the Axis and the Soviets. The war in the East did involve a lot of static warfare, for example the siege of Leningrad lasted some 900 days. Finns,Romanians,Italians,Spaniards,Hungarians: Yes please to all of the above! Especially the Finns. Other wishes which i'm sure someone else has mentioned but seeing as this is my first post: German Skijägers! absolute must and would make a very interesting addition to the unit types not only for their mode of transport during winter but for the fact that they had their own special OOB and often received new weapons earlier, for example the Stg44. German Luftwaffe groundtroops, a mistake by the German high command and Goering in particular. German cavalry, Infantry regiments had recce detachments on horse back for example (as i'm sure most here know the German armed forces were, from the begining right up to the end largely horse drawn). thanks for listening ------------------ "Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it"
