  1. Starts in DX9 (windows 7, 64 bit, high end machine)...but when I try and start in DX10, I get a black screen after the intro movie. Joe

    Foldy sea?

Running at highest settings (but in DX9, as DX10 doesn't start up),,,the sea appears foldy and jittery (tech term, I know). Tthe frameratre is good, its just the geometry of the sea seems very inorganic and planar in its waves and wakes..and certainly not anywhere as smooth as SH4

    Install issues

Trying to install PT to windows 7...get errors about needing to "elevate" in order to install codecs, and upon trying to launch, get errors about installing latest physics drivers....what next?
  4. no, not drop everything...just include some features that those of use games over 17 have called standard since the mid-1990's. Zoomable map? Basic in-game OOB screen?...man, those are not extravagant features. its just laughable that games can model the individual psyche of every man on the battlefield, yet have no screen to actually count how many men you have on the battlefield.
  5. Does anyone else find this disturbing...or is this community just too beaten down and will accept anything publishers throw our way.
  6. wow...158 views and no answer....I shudder to think the lack of replies indicates an inability to do these things (zoom maps, in-game OOB screen)
  7. Is there a way to zoom either the mini-map on teh main screen, or the tactical map? Also, is there an in-game screen where I can get a sense of my OOB?
  8. I think you may be right, Sir Sneaksie...had the same problem just opening the missions that shipped with the game, as I have recently reinstalled on my Vista laptop. I will give it a try tonight, thanks!
  9. When I generate a battle in the aptly names Battle Generator, where does it go? By that I mean that after I go through the steps, and click on the "save and start TOW", it just opens the main interface of TOW. I figured it would start the battle, or at least take me to a custom mission menu where I can select it....as of now, i dont know where to locate an dplay it.
  10. Is it possible to disembark passengers at the end of a string of waypoints. It seems that the "dismount" command is greyed out, and only becomes available after a vehicle stops. I have RTFM, especially page 64, but it didnt shed any light on this.
  11. Nevermind (from manual) Editing Buildings In 2D mode you choose the basic building types and determine their placement on the map. The actual look of the building is determined randomly from a number of options specific to each type of building. However, these automatically assigned attributes can be overridden and customized if desired. For each side and each floor of each building the texture, number of doors, and number of windows can be set. If the wall is exposed it can have a balcony of one sort or another. The type of roof can be changed as well, which not only changes the look of the building quite dramatically, but it also determines how much cover there is for soldiers occupying the roof. One of the more interesting, and powerful, features is the ability to completely remove walls by toggling through the “window/ door layouts” until the wall disappears. This allows adjacent buildings to be combined into larger structures, such as a massive warehouse or L shaped house. Since individual walls on individual floors can be removed, it is possible to have a building complex that is open on some levels and closed on others, Shock Force 129 or 3 stories in one section and only 2 in another section. The tactical possibilities created by this feature should not be overlooked! In general, each of the following clicks and key+click combinations toggles through the available options for each building in succession. Single Wall CTRL-CLICK on a side changes window/door layout for floor CTRL-SHIFT-CLICK on a side adds balconies for that floor Single Side ALT-CTRL-CLICK on a side changes window/door layout CTRL-SHIFT-CLICK on ground floor adds balconies Entire Building ALT-CLICK changes window/door frames for all four sides SHIFT-CLICK changes the buildings texture for all
  12. How is this done (from manual) Urban areas need a plan! Making a town or village is much more than simply plunking down a few buildings. CM:SF gives you the ability to customize each building by choosing different textures, layouts, building details, roofs, and balconies.
  13. In my CMSF root directory, I have 5 folders. The first 3 are "Data", "Game Files" and 'Misc"..the remaining 2 appear to be either French or German (no disrespect, I just cant tell...maybe one of each?) "Fichiers du jeu" and "Spieldateien"...with all of the subsequent folders beneath them also non-English
