Thanks for the quick replies guys.I have tried using my monitors screen size adjustments to enlarge the visible area but I am still left with a sizeable gap around the edge of the screen at either side.I will experiment with different refresh rates but all my efforts so far have drawn a blank.Ah well,back to the drawing board.I thought having no in game fog was going to be bad enough!

I have just installed a radeon 64mb ddr card in my pc and when I try to run cmbo in 1024x768 res the picture fills the screen top and bottom,but not at either side.I have tried using all the refresh rate options for my monitor under "settings" without success.If I run at 800x600 then it fills the screen fine,but I would rather play in the higher resolution.My monitor is a Relisys re772.I have downloaded the latest ati and relisys drivers,but no joy.Any help would be appreciated. :confused:

I note with some dismay that some people are having major problems with the kyro II cards and CMBO.I was seriously considering this card for my own PC,but this issue has kind of put me off.Is there anybody out there who uses a KyroII based card (Hercules 4500 was the card i was thinking of getting)who has no problems with CMBO,or who managed to fix the problems?Ive done a search on the forum but it seems to all be from people who are having problems,cheers. :confused:

Schrullenhaft,thanks for your help.Strangely enough I do have an SB live soundcard!I will check out the bios stuff on the biostar website.My pals son has a geforce2 pro card so I will see if I can try that out with my system to check for stability.Fingers crossed.Cheers,Bob.

Maximus,I note that you are running a geforce 2 with a 1.2ghz Athlon.I installed a geforce2 card with my system when I upgraded about a year ago but I had major problems with the geforce2/Via chipset motherboard(Biostar m7vkb).Games would crash at random times,usually within minutes of starting.I have a 300 watt power supply and plenty of power in the cooling fan dept,and through some research on the net I found out that there was a (fairly)widespread problem with this card/mobo combination.At the time I changed over to a Voodoo 5500,and all went well.The V5500 has served me well since then with no more crashing and the FSAA was a feature that I came to consider essential for gaming.However the card is showing its age a little bit now and whilst it copes well with whats available at the moment,some up and coming games may just prove too much for it.I have just upgraded to a 1.2 ghz cpu,on the same mobo as before,and I was wondering if you knew if the geforce2/via chipset problem still existed?Its going to be expensive enough upgrading the graphics without having to buy a new mobo as well.I have scanned around the net as best as i can to find out some answers but have drawn a blank.Any help you can give will be much appreciated,cheers. :confused:

Having been away from CMBO and this forum for a while and visiting forums for other games which temporarily distracted me from Cmbo,I was struck by how many backstabbing,rude,inconsiderate and downright nasty people exist on other forums.Things were so bad that this morning I thought "I know,I'll return to the fold and visit that paragon of worthwhile debate,informative discussion,and,well,"niceness" that is the CMBO forum".The first thing that catches my eye is a farewell from Modmeister Tiger."some sort of joke?" I thought,and then I read the post and the one which led up to it.I know that healthy debate is an essential part of any democratic society,including ours on this forum,but I was still sad to see that someone who has for me at least been a major part of the wonderful thing that is CMBO,has felt compelled to head off into the wilderness.I know the thread with his goodbye has been locked,but I feel strongly that I should offer my own thanks to Tiger for all his work,and hope he has a change of heart.I was really looking forward to his mods for the Eastern front,but alas they may not see the light of day.And me?Well I guess maybe I had just deluded myself while lost in the "other forum" wilderness that this was an oasis of tolerance and moderation.Was I just a sad deluded fool?

IN response to the request for Bobby whistle sound mod,I have a pretty good Bagpipe sound mod that I got from a link somewhere on this forum.It sounds quite stirring when the officer gives the command to advance and your troops charge forward to the skirl of the pipes.Probably scared the **** out of friend and foe alike!

Yup,same thing happened to me once.Dont get much opportunity to play these days anyway.They dont have P.C.'s in Her Majestys Prison Barlinnie,sniff!

It cost me aproximately £45 sterling(and about 10 days of nail biting anguish)to get my hands on CMBO.That was las year sometime.Since then I've played it almost everyday(sometimes I have to go to work,then theres the wife..)I visit this board at least once a day,and have gotten a lot of enjoyment from it,as well as downloading countless mods to improve the gaming experience even further.I know that you dont need to buy the game to use the board,but without the game there would be no board.Compare that to a trip to my local Electronic Boutique in Glasgow where I paid £30 for B172,then a return trip a week later to return it for a refund.Sometimes the extra money,time,and effort are well worth it.

Other "special" pieces I remember were the chariots from the Ancient Romans and Ancient Britons,The moon buggy from the astronauts,the horse drawn gun carriages from the union/confederates and WWI Royal artillery.I can also remember a "Robin Hood and his merry men" set.My mates and I never had the benefit of add-on sound mods,and "battles" would invariably be accompanied by wild shrieks,screams and whistling shell sounds,mixed in with the ocassional "Die,Britisher pig-dog"and "Banzai" ,"take that,Square heads",etc etc as the engagement required.There were also amazing "What if?"scenarios(although we didnt know thats what they were called at the time!)where Napoleonic imperial Guards would take on The French Foreign Legion for control of a WWII pontoon bridge.Happy Days!

Wolflord,cheers I remember seeing that movie years ago and never knew what it was called!After many frustrating attempts at finding the name by asking friends if they had seen it,all with negative results.You are right,it is a very good movie,and well ahead of its time with its "war is hell"message.Cheers,Bob.

Hi Sgt Steiner,I inherited a slightly beat-up Johnny seven from an older cousin.Apart from its huge size(The gun,not my cousin!) the thing I remember best about it was the "ratchet"(bolt?)on the right hand side which I pulled back with some difficuilty, but the resulting noise when you pulled the trigger more than made up for the effort.Thanks for reminding me of the Pupchen thing from the 1/72 Airfix Germans.If memory serves me well there was a little guy to sit on a kind of seat attached to it.Other favourites were the "dead guys"you got with some sets,flat on one side to make them lie realistically on your dining table/battlefield!I remember having the gun emplacement with a revolving field gun in a turret,which could be used to fire lethal matchsticks at the enemy.I think most kits had an "officer" figure,the commandos had a guy with a dynamite detonator.Possibly the most reviled set was the "civilians"which came in a pale yellow colour.They were supposed to be used to add realism to model railways but to us bloodthirsty seven year olds they were worse than useless(except for the cool little guy on the Lambretta scooter!)There must be thousands of these little soldiers lying around in attics/cupboards.Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to finish reading my "Commando".
