  1. I disabled my firewall and I can get the campaign to work. Any suggestions to allow the two computers to "talk" back and forth without disabling the firewall completely? [ August 19, 2005, 09:13 PM: Message edited by: Shades ]
  2. I still get the same error when trying to play a campaign game but not local.
  3. It sounds like you freeze up in the same place as me, the blue screen but I get the error detail report. I also get logged off. I'm not sure if my firewall is the problem but I'll try a few things.
  4. I get this message whenever I try to play a campaign game not local games. I did get to play one turn but at the end of the turn, the directplay error message appeared and now it keeps appearing even after reboot. I get to the blue screen before the planes appear then the message. Any ideas to get this to work? I'm using Windows 98 but have directx 9c.
  5. Looks good except maybe for the swimming pool by the flag. How about some Japanese tanks?
  6. Concerning the borg spotting, how about some type of varying sight delay for tanks that are not directly facing a spotted unit. Nothing worse when a you send your tank out to attack another and every gun that has LOS instantly sees that unit and fires away.
  7. I also liked Swordpoint but I was the Germans so I'm not sure how the Allied side felt. Getting across the bridge did my opponent in. So am I co-champion since we didn't get a final round? I'm not afraid to admit though I barely won a couple battles which I felt heavily favored my side.
  8. Mortar units won't automatically fire on units spotted by the HQ. You have to give the mortar unit an area target order first and they will continue to fire on the location for the full turn and then you have to cancel the order the following turn unless you want them to continue firing at the spot. They will usually stop firing when they get down to one last round. Mortar units positioned at the edge of a tree line and not in hiding, will automatically fire on units spotted but run the risk of being spotted themselves. Usually though, I need their fire in a location where it is too dangerous to move them possibly into view but they can still contribute by lobbing some shells over a ridge and out of harms way.
  9. When I first started playing, mortars were a unit that I often lost before I had even used any of their shells and never used them to their ability. Now, most of mine usually survive my battles hiding out after using all their shells(Unless there victims of a well placed artillery barrage). Once you get the HQ spotting down, they can greatly assist your infantry squads trying to gain some tough ground on well defended areas. Your enemy may be too close to your squads for an artillery strike to come in and possibly take out some friendlies. You have so much more control on where you want the on-board mortar shells to land and can make those tough MG units break and run(well, walk)after a few direct hits. As a receiver, I can often ride out a 81mm barrage pretty well on a whole, but that pesky mortar unit pinpointing on one of my units can drive me nuts especially if I can't tell where shells are coming from.
  10. I think Munter and I are the only ones left who played OLP and Wiltz. As the Allies, I beat Munter "only" 71-29 compared to your final score. That one was heavily slanted toward the Allies. Due to the night conditions and map makeup, I could keep my armor out of his guns sights and let my infantry and halftracks flesh them out or pummel what little areas he had to hide them with my artillery. Each flag was isolated in a wooded area and easily swarmed one at a time then I let the small town have it at the end. I am curious to see your final score with Wiltz which was quite a blood affair for us. [ November 15, 2003, 09:40 PM: Message edited by: Shades ]
  11. I'm currently playing Rune's version of this battle in a PBEM. I'm the Axis and we're pretty far into it and I'm trying to finish off his Cromwells with my newly arrived Panthers. I still have a couple Tigers, one a King! I was cursing early on when my 88's couldn't pick off his Stuarts coming behind a low ridge and they breached my lines moving fast causing real havoc on my gun crews. Luckily my panzershrecks and panzerfauts held them off till some armor arrived. I'll let you know how this one ends up. Not sure the AI could handle this one real well from either side and is more geared for PBEM. My opponent had some problems though keeping his armor targeting my armor without the benifit of cover arcs as in CMBB.
  12. Oh brother, the 91 Fwy! How I've daydreamed myself sitting in a Tiger tank plowing my way to my destination. I'd probably still make better time than that usual stop and go. Tiger or not, I'd still like to check it out!
  13. I had Wiltz as 71-29 and OLP 49-35 in my favor. Wiltz sure didn't feel like I won by that many points though with what little we had left.
  14. I never had any reply after I sent the results of my last battles with Munter. I figured Cpt Carrot didn't get the results of the other players and gave up. [ October 01, 2003, 12:17 AM: Message edited by: Shades ]
  15. Have you played anybody else by PBEM with any problems? If you can play vs. the computer without any problems it shouldn't be a video problem. If your definately playing with the same version of CMBO, I still believe it is hotmail unless anyone else has had similar problems and a fix.
