  1. It was a silly question, wasn't it?
  2. I wish to hell that I didn't agree with that so much right now. *sigh*
  3. You guys don't recognize a joke when you see one? It's not a hoax, it's a (wishful thinking) joke! ROFL!
  4. Those customers and their crazy opinions! *wink-wink-nudge-nudge*
  5. Refers right back to the Catch 22 of elicense. If elicense wasn't added to a patch for a game that didn't have or need elicense (because the game was already protected), you wouldn't necessarily have to download it personally (due to the need to purchase a patch). Semantics are in the eye of the beholder. BFC already had one for the games in question. I'll not argue and/or debate the merits of having one at all (no one ever wins that debate!), except to say it is incredibly disheartening for a paying customer to have to deal with increasingly obtrusive copy protections, while the thieves don't.
  6. A bit of a Catch 22 in there somewhere methinks... you don't need an internet connection to play with the patch, but you do need an internet connection to ever use the patch, which you need to play with the patch. Got it. *grin*
  7. From Battlefront it is. But then again, they are not the only wargame on the market. Not to mention my CMBO, CMBB, & CMAK work just fine under XP. They may not have all the bells and whistles anymore, but they keep working whether I have internet or not. Whether Battlefront still exists or not. Whether elicense still exists or not. Granted, I never thought the strategy guide worked too well, under any system. *grin*
  8. But wouldn't those be "left overs" by then?
  9. When I was an avid diver, I often had to explain a misconception regarding my dive knife... "It is indeed for use in case of sharks," I would reply. "Not for the shark itself, but to stab my dive buddy before I swim away." (it was really for use in case of entanglement) I was once buzzed by Orcas while diving. I was never aware they were even there. My wife on the boat said they came within 10 feet of us.
  10. *ack* Makes it a no-go for me. Looks like I'll be using XP even longer. (I pass on all DRM's that require internet and/or limit installs... although I got nailed by pre-ordering CMSF before knowing they used this DRM).
  11. It's not a giant squid. It's a giant flying/spinning turtle! (get your facts right!).
  12. Friends don't let friends facebook. Or twitter.
  13. I quit them when they became AOL (from a merger between PCLink and my AppleLink, running on my IIgs). As to Windoze... I still miss DOS (probably because I figured out the perfect config.sys that never needed editing for new programs, but more likely from the loss of control of my own system).
  14. One old, really lost, indian with obsessive compulsive disorder runs out of ink a long time ago, and we get stuck with this thread. *grin*
  15. I would HIGHLY recommend VASSAL over ADC2. Vassal is free, looks _much_ better, easier to program, easier to play, and runs on both PC's and Mac's. Vassal is java based and there probably a million games converted to it by now... see it and the modules for it at http://www.vassalengine.org/ Vassal also allows both PBEM and online/live play. Not to mention it there are several solitaire games converted to it, for those who can't leave the big games out on the table for weeks anymore.
  16. That's for Squids. Real men play Phantom Leader, also by DVG. I also note that a remake of Thunderbolt/Apache Leader is now on DVG's version of a P500.
  17. Why does that statement make me think of all those poor devil's who fell off the edge of the world before the Earth was reviewed to be round? *grin*
  18. At least I could read the main web page back then... I haven't been able to since the latest incarnation and I have just stopped going there.
  19. Translation: Mr Emrys has webbed feet and fingers and is covered by moss while being proud of his ferry. *grin*
  20. Banning any software on a military base should have little to no effect. Only idiots (and/or zero's) pay AAFES' software prices. So what if anything, is NEX going to do? Will they follow suit?
  21. Not to mention... http://cmmods.greenasjade.net/
  22. Why frickin' laser beams? You of all people should know the Germans started fielding the larger (and longer ranged) Fracking Laser Beams, well before the boiling water caused that high pitch sound to occur. So it would be completely realistic to employ the fracking laser beams from the onset. Granted, it does necessitate a larger teapot for ammunition, but the trade off is well worth the effort, don't you think?
