  1. How about getting one Tiger knocked out by a Sherman from a frontal shot at 300m, I thought that couldn’t happen. And your other Tiger getting its gun damaged in the same round by another Sherman. These super-one-shot-one-kill Shermans against Tigers are killing me. They weren’t Uber Shermans either, just your standard run-of-the-mill Shermans. ------------------ To conquer others is to have power, To conquer yourself is to have strength. -Lao Tzu
  2. Don't know the rule exactly, but if the spotter doesn't have LOS, it takes longer for the shells to start dropping. I guess because the spotter doesn't have the exact coordinates to call it in. I THINK that this is talked about in the manual, but I don't have it on me so can't look it up. ------------------ To conquer others is to have power, To conquer yourself is to have strength. -Lao Tzu
  3. He can call fire into the middle of the wood, but it would be out of line of sight, so it would take longer for the artillery to start falling. Like 3 minutes or so, vs. around 1 minute if he had LOS. Of course, he could call artillery fire to an area at the edge of the woods that was in LOS and some of the rounds would probably fall in the middle of the woods, as they all don’t fall in the exact same place. ------------------ To conquer others is to have power, To conquer yourself is to have strength. -Lao Tzu
  4. Couldn’t you program the game to have the anti-tank teams carry side arms, but to always give priority to any armor or vehicles they encounter (thus, use any anti-tank weapon they carry), and only use the side arm to defend itself if attacked by infantry? If this became some major programming problem, I say it wouldn’t be worth it, but if it could be done, then it would add to the realism of the game. I would have to agree with Jeff, bad tactics aside, you shouldn’t be punished by the game for something that it doesn’t have. If you played the game based on your experience in real life you would expect the anti-tank teams to have side arms, and you would be surprised when they didn’t. If you didn’t check before hand you wouldn’t know that they didn’t, and why would you check when you expected them to be modeled based on how they were in the actual war. However, as I said, if it’s a major programming problem, it’s probably not worth it. ------------------ To conquer others is to have power, To conquer yourself is to have strength. -Lao Tzu
  5. When I was in the Army, that’s what I was told a Sabot round did. It hit the tank at such a velocity that it passed right through it. Creating a vacuum so strong that it sucked the crew out the exit hole. Didn’t damage the tank so much as kill the crew. However, that’s just what I was told, I’m no expert. ------------------ To conquer others is to have power, To conquer yourself is to have strength. -Lao Tzu
  6. Ok, I was playing a QB this morning. During set up I put a MG on the top floor of a building and set it to Hide. As soon as the playback of the first round started every enemy troop locked on and started firing at the “hiding” MG. IMHO if you are hiding on the top floor of a building you should pretty much be unobservable to anyone until you start shooting, and even then you should be really hard to spot. One of the whole points of using a building as cover is that you can shoot at an advancing enemy without having to worry as much that they will be able to see you and return effective fire. Of course, if there are twelve guys firing rifles, you can see the muzzle flashes. But, it seems that it is too easy to spot enemies hiding or shooting. I don’t always buy “if you can see them, they can see you”. If you are hiding in a building (not shooting, just hiding) nobody should be able to see you until you begin shooting, even though you can see the two platoons running across the open field. It’s the same thing with troops who are engaged with the enemy. They are firing at one spot, trying to kill/suppress a rifle squad, and then they do a complete 180 and begin shooting at the two artillery spotters who just happen to move within view. I’m not saying that they couldn’t see the arty spotters; I just think that if they were already engaged with an enemy who is also shooting back, they wouldn’t be looking around for a better target to engage. They would be too busy trying to kill the guys who are trying to kill them to be looking for targets of opportunity. Any enlightenment on this subject would be greatly appreciated. ------------------ To conquer others is to have power, To conquer yourself is to have strength. -Lao Tzu
  7. I had a Tiger do this to an infantry squad, but the Tiger only had one HE round left and the infantry squad was in a building. When they left the building and began running away, the Tiger fired its last HE round at them. Did your tanks have a lot of HE left? I think that the AI will save HE if it only has a few left and switch to smoke, why it does this, I have no idea. As far as I know, smoke doesn’t have any offensive value. ------------------ To conquer others is to have power, To conquer yourself is to have strength. -Lao Tzu
  8. It seems that whenever I move a Panther into position to take a shot at a Sherman, the Sherman drops some smoke and withdraws before I can get lined up for the shot. But if I play the Americans and have a Sherman sitting there not doing anything, and a Panther moves into view, my tank just sits there and gets shot. It seems that the computer controlled troops reacts better during the turn resolution phase than the human controlled troops do. Also, I had a Platoon HQ (German) in a foxhole wipe out like 4 attacking British rifle squads (all at close range) one after the other with only loosing one guy. Then I had my “Uber” HQ assault the two British rifle squads pinned by MG fire 50 meters away. This all while the 2 German rifle squads nearby broke and ran after only loosing one or two guys. Nothing like seeing a full enemy assault broken up and defeated by a lowly HQ. ------------------ To conquer others is to have power, To conquer yourself is to have strength. -Lao Tzu
