  1. I have been playing it (almost exclusively) for over two years now and it is still worth every penny. Your mileage may vary
  2. I am staying with CMBO for now. I do not doubt that I will migrate to CMBB at some point, but I am in no hurry. I am having as much fun now (more probably) with CMBO as I did when I bought it 2 years ago. I play PBEM almost exclusively with usually no more than 3 or 4 battles going at a time. Maybe I am still happy with it because the number of games I have played in the two years is much less than those who have lived with the AI or played a gazillion times. Whatever the case, it yet feels fresh to me and I'm still playing it
  3. I viewed Michael's question from a point of view found in some of the train simulator games for instance. They have ongoing "expansion packs" or "service packs" which are sold. If it were a rather extensive expansion or whatever to a piece of software, then yes, I would pay for it. I personally do not mind paying for expansions but cringe at paying for what I consider corrections or fixes. --Randl
  4. Indeed I took some photographs with a wimpy chintzy disposable camera. A word to the wise. They are only anygood at all, in daylight and up close when using the flash. I compared the few I took, with those you all took.....can't hold a candle. Time to pony up for a real camera One interesting thing Harv.....I had a couple of pictures that had that spotty look from inside the hut also. Flash reflections inside the focal length perhaps. Love the pictures fellows. Thank you much MadMatt for putting them up, great job! Going through the gallery brought various moments back in all their glory --Randl
  5. Thank you for all you did sir! You added a lot to the day. I particularly enjoyed your comments and stories When you get tired of beating the tar out of the AI and want to try a PBEM with an easy mark, give me a shout. If I am not any better than the AI, I at least like to think I am more interesting than the AI opponent --Randl
  6. Well said gentlemen, all I can do is concur in the highest. Great folks, impressive sights and experiences; a day of fellowship to be remembered. What an environment to see CMBB in!! --Randl
  7. The catalogues are extraordinary! I can't imagine it getting any better than how you are doing it. The thumbnails, the ease of use, the comprehensiveness. It's downright impressive --Randl
  8. I am still planning on being there. Still a lot of maintenance I need to get done with the start of our school just around the corner but I am figuring to make it. One last day away will be good for me, particularly a day like this --Randl
  9. August 6th is a Tuesday so it may be more the boss than the wife, or at least that will be my problem I second the Bardstown museum. Another small but close site is Fort Duffield. It is an earthen fort with a view to the river and is just up the road towards Louisville from Ft. Knox. A non-profit group and volunteers have done some nice things with it. I'm an hour and half away in Southern Indiana and penciling this in. I'm hoping to ink it in later --Randl
  10. Hey, have it around Ft. Knox or Louisville, KY! That way it would close enough that I could go In fact it is time to get back to the Patton Museum as it is. The bi-annual pilgrimage you know
  11. Very nice sir. The background came up pretty as you please right off the bat this time. Didn't have to refresh either. --Randl
  12. Good Day Sir, I am very pleased to see the Outpost coming alive again. It was always a favorite. I have not gone to every last page of the site so I cannot speak for it all from my viewing. The only places so far that I have seen the dark background (Sherman tank in negative) is in the Mods section when opening an actual picture comparison page. In particular I visited pages representing DD's and Tiger's work and on those pages there was a dark background. Every where else I have been on the site is a white background with text in a light grey except for colored fonts in menu items and such. --Randl
  13. Before I came to play CMBO I played PGII at the Freedom Fighters club. PGII has nothing but scenarios. There are no generated battles of any sort. It was common procedure to play Mirrored games in which we would play each side of a scenario at the same time with one another. I feel that playing Mirrors adds a balancing aspect to the play when there is a limited number of scenarios that have been played umpteen times by the participants. Mirror play also makes playing unbalanced scenarios more palatable for ladder play as by rights you will win one lose one. I can see a place for Mirror play in CMBO in some instances. However, with the ability to generate QB's with rule sets and the like, I have not felt the desire to do any. Regards, --Randl
  14. I like these rules. I think they can be particularly useful for players new to ladder play. I like them when playing new people in CM for the first times. I also think they can be great in tournament play. After having played a few games with a new CM friend it is true that the rules typically go out the window as we know each other and have found someone with which to try different things with the game. Between strangers I think the rules can really help the stepping off on the right foot A question: why isn't the Hotchkiss tank be considered for Recon play? --Randl
