  1. From my experience attacking Yugo brings the Russians in earlier than if you wait for the coup. I usually take Poland, Denmark, Low Countries, France and then Sweden and Norway.
  2. You could agree before the game starts to the victory conditions. In my mind if the Axis take England and Russia out then they have won. The only way it would make sense to go on is if you had a world map and an unlimited time to continue the fight. Anyway, America will eventually fall in the game the way it is altho it might be time consuming. I think America being able to sue for peace is the best option.
  3. I have finished 3 online and am on my 4th. Some turns are pbem tho cause a full game takes quite awhile. The Axis definitely seem to have an advantage but since I have only had 1 opponent I dont have a lot to go on. So far I have received more in the way of tech advances as the Allies. If the Axis get alot of advances quick I dont think the Allies would have a chance.
  4. Thanks Hubert for the help. I was right clicking on the patch and extracting which has always worked before. But double left clicking worked perfectly as it overwrote the old files. Looking forward to my 1st online game now.
  5. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game. downloaded the 1.05 patch into the main strategic command folder. when i extract it it makes it own folder so i end up with that folder which has the new exe. the main folder has the old exe. it wont work. before when i downloaded patches i would do it the same as above but i would have to delete the old exe out to make the new one work. but now not even that works. what am i doing wrong?
  6. i put as much money into ind tech as possible then buy corps to try to stem the german tide. after i get up to 3 ind tech level i put 1 research pt into inf. i do that instead of tanks cause you have alot more inf units than tank. i move all the planes to help knock out finland. i move the tank units to safety if possible till russia gets stronger. then basically wait till america comes in the war. also i put all research for britian into ind tech. once it is maxed i move it to fighter tech. then i just look for weaknesses to eploit. games can go differently depending on how tech advances go etc.
  7. I tried different things but nothing worked. I put the vers 1.04 exe back in and it worked. Probably a conflict somewhere. I would like to be able to play online so will wait till someone gives us a clue to what the problem is.
  8. I downloaded the patch and I cant get the game to work. It says core file corrupted. with earlier versions i had to delete the old exe and just have the newest one in the folder and it worked. now it doesnt. any suggestions?
  9. thanks daystrom. this morning i could access the link on the Fury sight. wind
  10. "[[QB]Dude, click the hyperlinked text in Hubert's initial post "downloads" at the top of the thread. The 1.05 link is right there in yellow/gold. If it is not, clear your browser cache. cheers, Ray" I know you might think I am nuts but dude, i cleared my cache and even tried it on a brand spanking new computer but the download page shows version 1.04 and the demo. I will try again tomorrow.
  11. I went the Fury main page and found the link to download ver1.05 but when i go there i still dont find it. WHERE IS IT?
  12. the allies have won all pbem games i have been involved in. but have only played 2 people so maybe we are missing something. we have played both sides several times.
  13. the link provided shows ver1.04. where is 1.05 at?
  14. All I am saying is that you can make it more historical by using the editor. But you have the option of playing as unhistorical as you want. BTW, a strawman is all I can defeat, any other is just too tough for me.
  15. I have been hearing about WIF being worked on for almost 10yrs. Doubt if it will ever see the light of day. SC is a great game for what it is meant to be. By using the editor and using agreed upon house rules you can overcome some of the historical factors. But of course repeating history close to exact is boring. So that argument wont ever change. A game like this wont have as much replayability in the long run as say Combat Mission because of the size of units and theatre. But remember board games used to take forever to play so you couldn't play near as many as you can now with computers. All I can say is a game of this nature for $25 is a heck of a bargain. To each his own.
