Normandy wasnt the most intense battle of WW2 by any measure whatsoever.  For example what about Stalingrad?
The Germans weren't 'only overwhelmed by airpower' either.  They did not have superior battlecraft.  Some units did better tactically.  Many did not.  Operationally and above they sucked eggs.  They had a few good units in Normandy - however the average allied unit was as good or better than the average Heer unit.

Ok. First I wanna make my points. yes I know its a fictional war, but a lot of this work is already done by CW so to speak
    1. I havent seen ANY APS fielded AT ALL, even on oryx theres 'prototype' t80s with APS that basically just decoration because it didnt even have charges
    2. The Russians use a lot of T80s. I can provide a interview with a UA tanker last year who says they consider the T80BVM the most formidable opp because its armor and reverse speed
3, UA has too many good tanks. We should be seeing a ****load more T64 BVs, no oplots, and a handful of armatas
    4. Including random western kit from SF2, and oher titles would be amazing
    5. The RU army ... its ok we all fell for it.  They dont have T90s like that ,the rarity should AT THE LEAST go up A TON.  But also like they should have more older kit, the B3s, all that stuff should be more expensive, and less common..  Yes itd be a n 00B nightmare bu just sayin, Im surpsied noone saw this coming as far as tanks given the Russians were saying in 2014 thered be 3k armaatas by 2020, or that their aps can kill an APFSDS from a 120mm. Their S400 cant even hit a HIMARS rocket from the 90s lol
    6. Suicide drones.  They scare the **** out of me and would love tosee them in
    7. more drones, give UA drones that can drop a grenade or make a grenade equivalent boom
yeah Im sure this is NOT a priority, its a fictional war and Im sure theres more pressure to expand the current force pool
But its the only thing thatd really rekindle my love that game. Im just.. burnt out.

The awesome thing is I got to talk to the devs on the discord latenight one night and almost noone was there.  I mean most of this is known anyways but I confirmed some stuff
Crew will be modelled, not interiors.  The T80 will appear. ERA is iffy, prolly not, Other theaters are planned.  Infantry is definite, the level is unsure.  Air support is obviously planned.  They wouldnt divulge anything about when my beloved (the t64) let alone the hammerhead, leo 1 and bmp2 (thats gonna be a big deal) will arrive.   Same story with when soviet and german voices will come, the voice acting for the US is *amazing* so Im pumped
The campaign is going to blow your mind.  They got BIGGG Plans, logistics, lots of maps, battle types like now PACT attacks use nato formations numbers wise. If you play 'silver dart' you see a more realistic scenario - 2 m1s vs like 16 t72s and a couple atgms.   in the futre PACT attacks will reflect the different doctrine and numbers.
smoke dischargers are 100% gonna be in game
you know you can play the t34 right? you gotta (and u can win) take losses as e germany but dont lose. take A LOT of losses but dont lose. the campaign u can lose battlles.  theres a CHANCE if yourun low enuff on vehicles that you will be issued T34s.  ive seen proof but hasnt happened yet
if you olay the original training range (without preview vehicles) and make sure to shoot every target on thr range theres an easter egg
Uh what else.... MP is gonna be mind blowing.  I mean I paid for the steam version but I was playing this for 6 months for 5 bucks man. The team, their live streams their demeanor, they got the right vibe.  TBH they didnt have streams and **** in 1999, IDK what steve and co sound like, but I really get the BFC back in 1999 vibe from these guys.
Like Id put 50 bucks on this game becoming an instant classic when its released.
BTW can you believe that these clowns online were arguing to me (on tankograd) that 3bm15 was superior to m833?
Oh and apparently GHPC is  NATO propaganda. I said look its extremely EA. your literally judging a book by reading half of chapter 3 and thats it.  I also pointed out the Soviets arent even in yet. Anyways idk if theyre tankies or what but after I worked a goddamn 9 hour shift came home, saw I accidentally didnt leave the discord and some Brit fellow said 'i dont think hes here anymore' then the rest of the server dogpiled that and basically said  I was lurking and I was there and all this weird insulting ****.  Like my god, dude if u guys think Im lurking on discord bc Im mad like what kind of lives are these ppl living? who has the time for that ****?

Put your favorite units in a battle, or your Wittmans or whatever you got with the story...  This doesnt have to be just bodycount, it could be one tank but it saved the day or whatever. Give me what you got, I know some old timers got some good ones
In a day or two when my battle finishes with Probus I shall tell you guys a tale of a battle where a horde of commies came storming through, preplanned artillery causing massive casualties and rumors that we had a spy in our ranks.  Almost all our ITOWs got killed by ATGM fire..  things looked bad.
Then the tank charge came.  On my left flank.  Looked like the whole red army was coming at my men.  I had 3 M60s TTS (vet and one crack crew) and one ITOW left.
I rushed my M60 over... and right when I was about to make contact.. the plan loosely being to fire retreat fire retreat etc, I remembered the smoke trick.   Crack M60A3TTS totally alone.  I dont have the names now but Ill have screens..  Long story short, using smoke, they literally stopped the soviet drive COLD. the Soviets tried rushing them, didnt work. Lotsa bounced projectiles, but they legit KO'd at least 12-15 T64s, 2-3 BMPs,1-2 trucks, and IDK how many infantry. It was INSANE.
Finally my opp got ANOTHER damned 64, my crack crew long out of smoke, smoke rounds, the infantry around outta smoke, and its within 500m.  still 2 shots before they even got on my tank. this crew was so pimp. But the shots bounced.. The 125mm.. didnt.  Catastrophic explosion everyone KIA.  Im personally going to recommend the cmdr for the CMOH and the gunner, the crew Army Cross.
The T64? My other M60 schwacked him. Whew.  scary but stopped... right? then I hear the whine of a turbine engine.  'WTF *checks date* uh oh'

there should be a few vids that are excellent. also u can dm me for specific tips.
You have to accept YOU WILL TAKE CASUALTIES
You HAVE TO USE COMBINED ARMS
The tank sensors WILL NOT SEE THE WESTERN TANKS FIRST, UNLESS YOU ARE SITTING STILL LOOKING AT WHERE THEYLL COME FROM
Learn to use your ATGM inf teams to take out western tanks that are exposed.  If you can tactically at all always try to have the western tank advance or move or enter your tanks LOS, your tanks on the move will never spot the western tank first.   If you cant do this, you need to have infantry with the tanks, and mass your tanks.
I almost always let the tac ai target on its own, but in this case if you are doing massed tank attacks consider things like t62s or maybe not the best sov tanks.  Franjly I think T64Bs are always a better choice than a T80B, perhaps except defense where the reverse speed is like a lousy 4 km/h better.   But in case of massed tank attacks with infantry, use weight of fire.  So lets say you got 12 T62s and see 3 m1s.  First remember western platoons are in 4s with tanks and pact is 3s.  so always look for an extra tank, tho it may not be there. second, weight of fire, tell your tanks like if its m1s you want 3-5 tanks shooting at each m1.  This by weight of fire will kill or mess the tank up so bad it can at least stop a disaster.
DO NOT TRY POPPING SMOKE if its DEFINITELY A THERMAL EQUIPPED WESTERN WEAPON - THEY WILL BE ABLE TO KEEP FIRING AND NOW U CANT EVEN TRY TO SHOOT BACK
Soviets have a fckton of IFVs, apcs, and tanks.  almost all have coax and a few thousand rounds.  literally shoot eveerything potentially  that could have enemy troops in it with target light for mg fire, multiple vehicles, for a min or two per spot, longer on buildings.   This often also gets a repsonse or makes a human think you know where their men are
Soviet arty respone times suck,. Get TRPs and preplan your arty otherwise
everyones different. the way I play them works great or disastrously-  I like high tempo attacks.  IE Im on you and th ebattles gonna be decided fairly quickly...  If you do this right, or learn to do this right lots of people are terrible at handling this, some ppl play really cautiously or slow.  The entire sov doctrine actually encourages what I do somwhat, you need to basically sorta probe or designate a couple attack lanes and send some BTRS or BMPs, and have some infantry near running wit hthem
Where you fin dthe enemy weakest you want to RUSH your men into that hole, and try to blow into their rear where they hopefully arent even sure where u are exactly.   Then You should also on the move be able (time is key, dont stop and mass) pick the avenue you want to strike from now and either roll up th esides, or maybe you wanna rush your tanks over into keyholed spots spots with only a small LOS window as it were ) and have your infantry take up good cover and now the western defender has to come dig u out

RIP John Chesire.  F4 vet, 2 combat tours in Nam.  His memoirs are googleable and free online.  I only ever talked to him on quora but he had the greatest stories and was a great guy.  One of the original 'top guns'; like 2nd or 3rd class, flew the first operational F14 cruise.
Flew a tour in like 68 which he described as 'dull' went to top gun and flew a 72 tour he described as ' a different world' with the new AAA and SAMs and the NVN (hell and us) were more aggressive in the air war.
Honest to a fault, readily admitted he never laid eyes on a VN mig despite that being every true fighter pilots dream.  He had one on his scope before and tried chasing it down.  However it was a stern chase and headed right towards basically Hanoi and the main mig base area and after a few minutes he gave it up. Hell it was prolly a trap
If anyone is in contact with Pete Wenman pls have him msg me, John was very fond of Pete. I msgd him, Im sure he knows, but if not he deserves to, hes the one who made me aware of Johns existence.

edit wow I cant find his self written memoirs online anymore. Ill have someone find them for me.  His pics, and other stuff are readily googleable. His quora memories are pure gold.  This guy was a consummate professional and gentleman.  All of us Americans lost something when John passed away.

Ethernet cables can be up to 300 feet before needing a repeater.  Amazon has some very good ones in 100 foot length (get more than you think you need, hiding the excess is normally fairly easy but not having enough is always a pain).
I ran my cables under through an airduct down to the basement (a hole just big enough to push a cable through the side) then up through another duct so the cable is not laying on the floor.  I also used a cheap switch ($20 or so) to allow 4 devices to hook up to the switch.
At my mother's that was not an option so I used ethernet over coax since she had coax outlets near where she wanted the PC and the other one was where the cable box is.  The power line connectors also work well most of the time but when they don't work they are garbage (something to do with how the house wiring is done, I have had them work really well and really badly on different days - then switched to the coax version that works great all the time and is much faster, as fast as my internet signal)
Here is a link to the COAX connectors:   https://www.amazon.com/Actiontec-ScreenBeam-Network-Adapter-Ethernet/dp/B08ML1TSXC/ref=sr_1_1?crid=O6Z8M9ZH9M9G&keywords=ScreenBeam%2BBonded%2BMoCA%2B2.5%2BNetwork%2BAdapter%2Bfor%2BHighest%2BSpeed%2BInternet%2C%2BEthernet%2BOver%2BCoax%2B-%2BStarter%2BKit&qid=1683161563&s=electronics&sprefix=screenbeam%2Bbonded%2Bmoca%2B2.5%2Bnetwork%2Badapter%2Bfor%2Bhighest%2Bspeed%2Binternet%2C%2Bethernet%2Bover%2Bcoax%2B-%2Bstarter%2Bkit%2Celectronics%2C66&sr=1-1&th=1

Nah man heres my reasoning - the phrase 'engine 5'
Also CM1 to 2 was totally different. they werent interchangeable.  indeed the first one didnt even actually show every soldier!  (like 12 men would be shown as 3, when 4 lost 2, etc) very immersion breaking for me at the time, though of course a ton of the older heads who at the time had grown up on table top were like 'youre spoiled'
No, not to seem a know it all, but watching them release CM content since 1999 this is a CM2 upgrade.  'Free of charge' Cm3? LOL Also, trust me, theyll blow this site the fck up when CM3 is close with all sorts of screens, aars, a new sub forum etc

I know I sound crazy. I care about the franchise and maybe you guys dont see it but I do, constantly trying to turn younger gamers onto this, half who are not amateurs by any means (like fly dcs constantly, etc not war thunder types) - half immediately nope out because its A 2006 ENGINE AND YOU CAN TELL..
And its NOT just graphics, there are some glaring issues for example that show up in MOUT

I know this wont change **** - theyll just churn out CMx2 titles until it dies but god I wish I was wrong

But again, Cmx1 to  cmx2 was 7 years. Cmx2 to --- ? is almost 17 years. BFC please I love you guys, dont die on this hill just churning out CMx2 stuff.  Its fine for the old heads but the new gamers... even ones who I got to like ur games, they all... were constantly bitching about the graphics. And the fact is graphics DO MATTER.  And  plus the engines just ancient at this point
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD JUST STOP AND MAKE CMX3. MY OPINION ONLY, BUT F EXPANSIONS TO ANYTHING ELSE, ANY NEW TITLES, CMX3, THATS THE FUTURE.

First of all I dont even know if this is POSSIBLE.  However, it occurred to me playing just now, that this has been an ongoing problem since I first played CM:A ( I missed SF 1 until it was 'fixed'.  I got burnt out from 99-03 on BO and BB, missed AK, saw initial SF reaction and demo was horrified, and left.  Came back in time for CM:A to be out and CM:SF to be fixed heavily patched but moreover CMBN on the horizon)

Tangent aside - it occured to me - I play at Ironman, but often theres locations on the map that... are featureless or points of interest.  I dont want anything new like weapons or anything, I dont know if this is even possible, or if itd be too much work, but would there be a way to make a marker viewable to you only like just a 'pin on the map' as it were?  like you could go to the options where briefing etc is, have a button with a paintbrush icon, and click it, a little window like the arty window wud appear ( key point is none of this would alter your FOV or unselect your unit) and you would maybe have like a ! sign, ? sign, and if we want fancy take the generic inf icons, tank. etc and have them there.  Finally a trashbin icon.  These 'markers' could be turned on and off like onjectives, but would serve the same as what a commander with a pen or pencil would have from ww2 to tablets now.  Itd REALLY help me, especially for like things like area fire, when Im giving a tank like move reverse move reverse with target briefly on each waypoint with pauses, in ironman or elite IIRC everytime I sellect a unit I only see what they see.  thats fine, I like it, but I dont like that often I have to somehow find some trick to figure out how to area target some enemy unit for the second waypoint, then third, etc.  x3 wen said units are in featureless terrain, or woods, or whatever.
Theres the added bennie of just usefulness in general.   yes you get 'contacts' but CM is kind ambiguous as to if youre the CO or what exactly often, and if you go just by unit reported contacts those fade.  Whereas IRL any commander who had a unit hear tanks rumbling around on the Russian side or whatever or heard infantry noises, theyd note and mark that, not 'forget about it' if it goes quiet for 15 min.  Im old and not the brightest, so I dont remember everything like some of youse, so itd really help me especially in these larger battles, to be able to notate even like just a exclamation mark or question mark, so I dont forget that 'hey your men had sound or other contacts here'

Playing the To Berlin campaign for Fire and Rubble, my Soviets had to defend against a German counterattack and I had a Soviet company commander in an M3 half-track hold off a platoon of German infantry by himself, the guy was like the Soviet Audie Murphy, every time the Germans tried to attack he'd hose them down with .50 cal fire until they broke, and they'd recover and keep attacking again and again. At one point I had him retreat into a ditch but he still was holding them off even though the Germans were only 30 or so meters away. Never again have I seen an exposed gunner last that long in a CM game, usually a random rifleman will just snipe them from 200m away.
