  1. I tried to play CMBB on line, however one is asked to enter IP address. There has to be an easier way, like dedicated multiplayer server, i,e Gamespy. Anyone wish to answer?
  2. I am disappointed that only one scenario involves a Polish unit engaging Romanian Waffen SS? To add to an insult, the tanks do not have the Polish white eagle on their sides. Just because the Polish 1st Army, comprised of the 1st Infantry Division Tadeusz Kościuszko, 2nd Infantry Division Henryk Dąbrowski, 3rd Infantry Division Romuald Traugutt, 4th Infantry Division Jan Kilinski, 1st Armoured Brigade Heroes of Westerplatte, 1st Cavalry Brigade, an artillery group, and minor units was included into the forces of the 1st Byelorussian Front, does not mean that they did not fight their own battles. To see more on this subject follow Paul Newmann's brief article at: http://2ndww.tripod.com/Poland/lenino.htm I guess, I will need to create my own scenarios involving Polish units fighting the elite Airborne Armoured Division Hermann Göring near Magnuszew and not some scrappy Hungarian Waffen SS.
  3. I waited until 4:47 p.m. for my office mail room to put the CMBB packet in my mail box but to no avail, until I went down and tore through the USPS mail totes. After cussing and shouting I finally found it. Homie will be playing tonight; who needs sex anyway.
  4. Long live Rudy 102 !!! (I wonder how many got the joke ) How about Szarik, the German shepard. I need to find out how to make a skin for Rudy 102. Funny thing is, I just finished watching "Czterej pancerni i pies" (Four tankmen and a dog) on DVD and discovered that it has sub titles in English. For those of you who have no idea what Gud and I are talking about, let me give you a brief synopsis. The 21 episode TV series "Czterej pancerni i pies" was filmed in the Communist Poland and is based on a book depicting fictional war adventures of four tank crew members and their dog as they are "liberating" Poland with their Russian comrades, rolling to victory towards Berlin. Leaving the geopolitical baggage behind, the episodes showed T-34 in action with all the sounds and close ups of cramped crew conditions inside this venerable tank. To see more of "Czterej Pancerni i Pies" see the DVD store at: http://www.polishfilm.ca/skok/dvds/groups/polish/c/4panc/4panc.html Picture of T-34 aka as Rudy 102 can be found at: http://film.onet.pl/F,7371,1,10,galeria.html
  5. I run into a web site called "Russian Battlefield" with interesting content. One in particular are the memoirs of former Russian infantry soldiers, tank crew men and pilots. Check it out at: http://www.battlefield.ru/
  6. After reading Macgamer interview with staff members of Big Time developer team, (published today), I was surprised to find out that among the armies of the Soviet war, there are no Polish units. For the game to be historically accurate, Poles need to be included. Poles fought along the Russians from their first battle near Lenino, through Poland, to finally taking Berlin. I would be interested to hear fom the Big Time Software staff. The following units of the Polish Army fought along side the Russians: 1 Armia Wojska Polskiego (1st Polish Army) which had over 100 000 strong and was composed of 5 infantry divisions, 1 cavalry brigade, 1 tank brigade and other artillery, ordinance and communications battalions. Among key accomplishments was the liberation of Warsaw and attack on Berlin. They also met 9th US Army near river Elbe. [ February 28, 2002, 10:33 AM: Message edited by: veloboldie ]
  7. Norman Davies' "Heart of Europe" or "God's Playground: A History of Poland" are two excellent books that discuss Poland's contributions in WWII. Both are in print.

  9. Battle of Studzianki 9-16 VIII 1944. This was probably, after Kursk, the biggest tank battle of WWII. Two panzer divisions: 19th Panzer division and SS Herman Goering Panzer/Paratrooper Divison fought the 1st Polish Tank Brigade(formed under Russian command and named after heroes of Westerplatte) and 8th Russian Guards. During those seven days, Germans lost: 40 tanks, 9 armored personnel carriers, 26 field guns and mortars and an artillery battery was captured. Unfortunately I could not find information about the Polish and Russian losses. In 1969 the name of the town was changed to Studzianki Pancerne (Pancerz in Polish means armor)and a tank monument in the form of T-34/85 was erected to commemorate the battle. This could be an interesting scenario for CM2. [ 04-27-2001: Message edited by: veloboldie ]
