  1. PA ,W Thanks -----If you are involved in moving a tank unit through bocage terrain in a July Quick Battle how do you purchase and acquire bocage-cutter equipped tanks---I dont see any units on the setup screen which mentions or specifies this equipment is present Grateful for any help with this......
  2. Is there a particular in- game date by which U.S. tanks are, or can be ,equipped with anti- bocage attachments. Thanks
  3. Thanks both--disappointing but sitn clarified.....
  4. Apologies if I have missed this in the manual--but is there a way to order a convoy of vehicles to follow the meandering road route of the first vehicle --or is the only way you can order this, is to click every vehicles road path separately on any non -straight routes Thanks
  5. Mijkerner---- Many thanks and my apologies--I now see you did explain all this very well at the end of your readme but in typical careless fashion as soon as I first read about RezExplode I pressed my personal panic button and wrote the email. Thanks again for your help and also your excellent mods
  6. As a recent returner to CM this programme is unknown and unused by me---could some kind and informed forum member please tell me how to acquire and use this prog. Many thanks
  7. I have fought another tank battle and studied main gun symbols-------nothing so imaginative I fear as a new in-tank urination ikon (though I think Steve has it written in for first patch)--but it now appears to be the MG42 ikon which often replaces main gun ikon and I assume it implies that gunner is ready to use coaxial MG and can revert to main gun if appropriate and if main gun is undamaged Thank you all for your lavatorial Freudian flights of fancy which removed us further and further from a legitimate solution........(until next patch of course when it will feature--or else how could it really be called a top notch accurate simulation and receive maximum stars or thumbs-up etc) NB I guess the effects of this in-tank relieving practice is why those in the tank lower area --driver and wireless operator were often described as "wet behind the ears".......
  8. I have just been involved in a tank battle and noticed that on several occasions during combat the main gun symbol was replaced by the hand gun symbol and the main gun was not usable-but the gunner was fine and the damage display showed all green lights. Often some time later the gun appeared to be usable again. Can anyone please briefly explain what was happening in this situation Many thanks...
  9. JonS---Thank you so much for your helpful and constructive reply----I can only assume from your homespun and profound philosophical pronouncement at the bottom of your contri that you must be a medium-sized animal......
  10. Could it also please indicate the rough scale of the battle---eg platoon,platoon--company ----company to battalion-----battalion etc---for many the size of the battle is a very important factor whether to d/l or not.....Thanks
  11. Steve ,this current comment and view seemed to me to imply that no more shipments would be sent for distribution from Germany. On another thread you told me earlier that re the future modules we would be able to procure them from Germany after the pre order period. Could you please clarify which of these 2 interpretations is accurate. Thanks "Worried of Brighton"
  12. They are very cheap--you need to play with the Standard Rarity on to impose some restraint--(if you are playing German!!)
  13. John Malcom--FYI--The charge on the delivery envelope states its source as the UK Border Agency,Mt Pleasant Parcel Dept,London. So we must presume that Agency is the body in overall responsibility for these charges and any correspondence re these charges is to be sent to that address. Thats what they have to do with it.......
  14. Blackcat-you may well choose to prefer to celebrate the fact that some people get away with it and to celebrate the anomalies in the treatment--thats your choice--but i would prefer to see a bit of fairness and justice applied to all the customers. re cost and time awaiting delivery. But we have spent long enough debating and airing this issue--I intend to say no more about it . (sighs of relief from all forum members)
  15. This is not usual news for many UK purchasers but I have just collected my Steelbox after a 31 day delay and a demand for £17.90p (£9 90p VAT and £8 Post Office "handling" bill) There has been a long thread of comment and discussion re this issue and I dont intend to protract it beyond this mail. But I would like to terminate it with 3 final comments, one to the UK Border Agency, one to the Post Office and one to Steve and Battlefront. UK Border Agency 1)What is fair and just about a system where one group of customers receive their import free of any charge and another similar group of customers randomly selected are arbitrarily charged VAT And also how can it be justified to take 20-30 days just to impose the charge before any delivery or information to those customers. Post Office 2)The "handling" charge ,I was told, was made because the Post Office paid the VAT and then had to reclaim it from us. But my point would be that we did not instruct the PO to pay our VAT --if we had been charged the VAT directly we could have paid it directly. Steve and Battlefront 3) Finally, I should just like to make a deepfelt plea that the future CMBN modules are made available for European purchasers at the outset from Germany and not from America only.We really couldnt go through all this hassle, expense and unfairness re every new module. Thanks in hope....
  16. 100% support from me on these excellent suggestions Thanks for great work
  17. Surely they could be roughly defined by those very terms platoon platoon---company company company -battalion We dont expect precise definitions but rough guidelines so we know roughly the battle size involved. For many this is a very important reason for choice of which battles to d/l and would prevent a great deal of d/loading and then deleting inappropriate ones. Thanks
  18. I agree the sorting by battle size or at least key info re battle size would be extremely helpful in sifting likely choices without having to d/l all battles before discovering their size .
  19. Good work -but I am not totally sure Desaturation modder Vein will over- appreciate his new name "Vile"......... Sorry for flippant comment---just a vacant moment to fill.
  20. Congratulations and envy "Underfire"--no delivery or news into the Outback city of Brighton as yet..........
  21. Janbank--Impossible for us to advise you--go with your preference for Quality or Quantity Suggest you a try a couple of QBs where in one you maximise quantity and ln the other give priority to quality troops. See how happy you are with the way your troops behave and respond and how effective you are in the face of the enemy. Making these sorts of desicions is one of the pleasures and strengths of the QB system.
  22. ....and lose the one excellent wego feature which CM has which is not emulated anywhere---many of us do not like the clickfest fast reaction sim but the more thoughtful ,reflective decision making process and the chance to view the outcomes and action in detail and breadth. There should be opps for both approaches within the game The absence of the old "Hunt" feature as is explained above, causes a real problem for the "wego" exponents with the current CMBN.
  23. I started playing QBs with "no Rarity" option but found that time after time as a German defender on a smallish map I was hit. initially by map-wide repeated barrages of U.S. rockets, which often decimated my defending units before the engagement started. On examining the US Artillery OOB I noticed how very cheap the Rocket purchases were compared with all the other arty U.S and German. The only way to prevent this (if the pts pricing is realistic and correct) is to impose the Standard Rarity option which substantially reduces the extensive purchase of these rocket bombardments which seem to me to destroy the credibility of such engagements. So I have now been converted to support the "Rarity" factor for these reasons.
  24. Thanks Mikey--Now understand more clearly the complexity re the selection by autopicker re para and glider infantry and also the randomly selected basic alternative skins especially with regard to German footwear and American tunic shades. Cheers....
  25. Still a little puzzled by the way these seem to work or not work. I have the US Rangers,82 and101 Airborne mods . I only ever have one of these 3 in the Z folder at a time. I find that in Quick Battles if I select Airborne Infantry and select and play as Americans then I get the Airborne uniform--but if I play as Germans and allocate the Computer to select and control the American Airborne units them what turns up on the American side is a mishmash of uniforms with only a few correct Airborne ones. The Hitlerjugend uniform mod on the German side seems to work with both player and computer control The only American uniform which seems to work both for you and for the Computer is the Rangers uniform. Any other similar experiences with Airborne unit mod problems---- any suggestions/advice please
