  1. Somehow a documentary movie of bfc at work wouldn't actually excite me that much unless of course there were half a dozen nubile pretty interns serving coffee or snapping whips to keep them on their toes. Hehe!
  2. Sounds good to me. Thanks will check the new scenario depot for the online spreadsheet. In the meantime how are scenario's being submitted there?
  3. Hi Would you please sends me the spreadsheet as well? I've got a few scenario's and op's from the original SD that I'l re-post at TPG as well. lucero1148@netscape.net Thanks and you're doing a real great job and serivce for the community! All best Patrick
  4. Isn't this topic getting a bit silly ...like the article. Both armies are very professional and exceptionally well led. Both armies during their particular times of conflict have shone as great examples or failed miserably in their actions. The real problem is the blind biases of some of the writer's here. The Brit's are good but they are not any better than the American forces in dealing with the civilian population in Iraq. Sure the individual soldier maynot be an enlightened in the niceties of culture in a conflict zone as he is more concerned about staying alive and in one piece. As for the Iraqi's you have to wonder why they feel the need to blow up their own people. The fact that collateral damage is acceptable to further their cause (which is what? Bring back Sadaam? Haha!) is ludicrous. Especially since they now have a political process to change the course of their live. Not even the Lebanese government have as much freedom because of Syrian involvements in their politics. Hey if it's just to to get the American's out the fastest way to do it is to let peace reign. If there was no violence we'd be out of there much faster than fighting us. American soldier's wouldn't be trigger happy brutes if it weren't for the idiotic Iraqi (or foreign jihadist) insurgent only too happy to kill anyone within reach. I would bet the majority of suicide bomber are Saudi's, Kuwaiti's, Jordanian's and Palestinian. As for the Economist I always felt they had an editorial staff that was fond of poking us "American's " whenever they could.
  5. HOw about simulating a roving press corp on the battlefield? I'm sure the army would love blowing them up in a simulator!
  6. Besides Hadji/Haji is a term for those devout Muslims who've made the pilgrimage to Mecca.
  7. Re. Iran there purpose for getting invlved is all about getting a chance to hit at the US by using the insurgents. The fact that they are destabilizing the country also benefits them inthe long run as obviously it offers Iran the chance to turn Iraq into a Shia allied state at least and at best into a theocracy. They have the luxury of being able to t\plan for the long term while we have to deal with a wavering US public opinion on how long we shoud be there. Hezbollah is for all practical matters an arm of the Iranian theocracy. They don't do anything without the gov't/ ulama's approving it.
  8. All very true but even the US could afford to fight an extended war without going bankrupt. I think the Flaklands was a good example as the Brits quickly ran out of bombs and missles and the US had to dig into their own supplies so they could continue the fight.
  9. Still it seems rather wasteful using a TOW when a simpler cannon round would have done the trick. In a small scale war like what Syria would be and Iraq is now a 90mm or 105mm gun would be more effective and much cheaper. Tow's & Javelin's are all LOS weapons so they maybe effective but a HE round would be smarter to use. Economics in the long run would be very telling if a conflict drags on to the point we can't afford to fight.
  10. From what I understand ATGM's being expensive their use is limited only against tanks and APC's. However while watching CNN in a video clip they showed a Humvee using its TOW launcher against a concrete building at point blank range. During the 1st Iraq War I remember an Apache pilot being court martial for wasting his Hellfire missles at a truck convoy when he should have used his 30mm canon or 2.75 rockets. Now a TOW missle carries about 25lbs of explosives so that's a considerable bang to anyone inside of the house but a pretty expensive bang for the buck. Is this normally how ATGM's are being used now in Iraq? that being the case for CMSF will ATGM's be allowed to be used in similar fashion?
  11. I would think if I was a mortar crewman under automatic rifle fire that would indicate enemy being somewhere within a 100 meters from me. I think bugging out would be a good thing to do, especially if I didn't have a rifle to defend myself.
  12. What is an insensitive round? Would an artillery shell be considered sensitive? Definitely a SCUD would be sensitive once it's loaded with fuel. What about hitting a mortar round would that explode? It seems an odd way to define an explosive round.
  13. The video card does have a fan on it so I'll have to check it to see how much dust has accumulated since the last time I opened my Mac up. I do have a lot of hi-res mods loaded so that could be something, but I will defintiely check if I turned off terrain elements. Hopefully that will solve this puzzle. Many thnaks to you and Junk.
  14. Hi It doesn't matter which scenario. It doesn't show up in Cemetery Hill or in the editor for summer or winter. I've even re-installed the files from the original data file and nothing shows up. I'm thinking my video card might be giving me problems? ATI Radeon PCI card 32 mb. It's about 5 years old so maybe its dying? What makes me think that is while play testing a scenario/map I designed during the game all the buildings on the map lost their design and shopwed up as b/w images on the map while everything else was normal. I quit the game , rebooted and started it up without it going weird on me. thanks for replying.
  15. Pirated copies in Asia are usually under $2.00 for games. The concept for a NK vs US/S. Korea /UN force would be pretty good especially if China comes in on the side of NK. There would be plenty of interested buyers in Asia as a whole for original copies of the game I would think especially the Chinese military.
  16. Hi No to all of the above! I only have one cmbb installed. and only one data folder for the bmp to be installed in. The cemetery used to show up until I installed a hi-res terrain effects mod. I checked the individual bmp files and they look fine and are looking fine in the data folder as well. However when you open the game up or the editor the cemetary file refuses to show up. And no I don't edit out anyone's scenario file so there shouldn't be any reason for the bmp's to not show up. I've tried deleting the files and re-installing the files into the data file but no luck.
  17. Somehow the files for the cemetery in cmbb just doesn't appear. I've located the bmp files and have tried reloading it in the data folder but so far no luck in the cemery markers showing up in the game. Any way to make the file re-appear?
  18. I don't think Mac's will die if Windows can be opened on a separate partition within the Mac. It would actually be more inviting. Virtual PC is not a bad program but as its an emulator Windows programs don't run as fast as on a real Windows pc. Mac user's wanting to play pc games can do so without having to buy another pc just for games. PC user's can move back and forth between OSX just to surf the web as OSX is still relatively virus free until hackers decide the Mac OS is profitable to hack into. It'll be great for pro users as well especially for audio and video editors.
  19. What was also interesting in that comparison test was that the Toshiba running OSX used less ram than the pc running xp. So it actually had more available ram to run the test programs. Hopefully once the MacIntel machines are out that will settle the question of how well programs will run on the new chips and which direction BFC goes with CMSF on the Mac.
  20. Just to set the record straight when Mac's move over to intel chips and how will that affect the coding of CMSF? So far from what I gather those with G4 and G5 chips in their machines (1GHz and up) should be able to play cmsf without a problem as long as their video card has more than 128mb? Reading the ZD network story on Mac OSX running on a PentiumM Toshiba portable, ITunes ran much slower than iTunes for Windows due to the emulation of the coding. So if emulation coding for OSX programs runs slower on intel chips won't that affect CMSF playability?
  21. My pleasure. This is great because you really have to plan your strategy well for both sides. Nothing is obvious here and i don't think one can be heavy handed here in on the attack or defense. A real thinking man's fight. It's a real pity the Adm Keth's site bit the dustas that was one of the best sites for getting scenario's from the community. Look forward to seeing your scenario's for CMSF too. Hehe you wouldn't mind blurting out some details huh? Just kidding will, wait for the official word. What I find interesting on this thread is that no one has mentioned how much they liked the other titles that BFC is selling. Anyone want to make a quick comment on Down in Flames and how it is compared to other flying games, or T-72 and Strategic Command as games? Hope that's not pushing the limit on this thread? All best Patrick
  22. Abbott I think you hit it right on the nose. I don't see much originality in the new games out there as well. Then again publisher's are into making money and doing something new and untested isn't going to be a popular idea for the money people. Off subject did you design this Breakout 10th div? Don't know if I got the title right but am playing it hth for the first time (Russian defender) and it's excellent, but I am getting eaten alive despite having good defensive and ambush positions. Basically my tanks may have the 1st shot but the Panther's and MK IV's kill me on theirs. Very exciting though. All best Patrick
  23. I for one would hate to see the WEGO system go. CMSF is already scaled down probably to accomodate the real time aspects of the game. As for dual processors it wouldn't make a diference as the game isn't being coded for multi processor systems.
  24. What about the effects of .50 cal mg fire. From what I understand concentrated fire is pretty devasting to anyone inside an ordinary house.
