  1. I'm looking forward to this coming out as well. That being said when the next CM update is being made could we add an addition to the KIA , WIA bean counter to include artillery and aircraft? At the end of a battle I'd like to know how effective an artillery strike was and how many tanks and infantry were taken out by aircraft?
  2. I couldn't see any other way to defeat the prison guards without the extra help. First time I played The Rock, most of the killed and wounded came from storming the 2 sea tower. Once ST got into the tower they were immediately hit by the guards in the main block building. The surviving members were able to neutralize most of the guards and able to free the prisoner in about 10 minutes, but by then I'm down to a handful and not confident I could walk out the front gate, so I exited from the rear entrance I made and walked around the prison towards freedom. It was because ST was decimated that I had no choice but to bring in the land force over the bridge on foot to hit the front, land facing towers and take out the guards there to enable ST to walk around the prison unhindered beanie sniping from the guards. All in all it took about 30 to 40 minutes to free the prisoner and walk him off the board. Plenty of time to escape before the QRF makes it to town. In subsequent battle tests, once I freed the prisoner, I would walk my ST and town troops to the entry point of the QRF and just wait in ambush using whatever javelins and AT4's were left over and had a blast. Literally. Too cool to see the whole enemy column blow up in a few seconds with no survivors. Thanks again for the great scenario and I look forward to the next version!
  3. Thank you for a great campaign. Excellent maps and AI is very challenging. Had to play it 3 times before I could get a satisfactory win against the AI and despite the difficulty it was very rewarding game play. Spoiler Alert: For the first scenario I sent a MG team and a 3 man team to scout the roads while advancing towards the village where the AA assets were. The rest of the troops to clear out the left flank and walk down the ambush area on both sides of the road. Not encountering anything I walked to the little bridge there and covered the 4 corners of the intersection by the little bridge there. When the enemy patrol came by I was able to easily the whole lot. Clearing out the other sites before going to the AA assets proved problematical as I lost a squad when they past by the house where the command unit was hiding. However once they opened up I brought up the humvees and armoured trucks to smoke them out with their HMG's and MMG's. For the final push moving slowly towards the village, I was able to spot the guards watching the entrance over the bridge and hosed them down with MG fire to suppress and do a rush charge and give the coup de grace. Calling in the mortars onto the town took a few minutes but after a couple of adjusting fire , the rounds hitting on target pretty much stunned what troops were left and made it easier to assault into the town and finish off the survivors. The rest of the scenarios are also challenging and well laid out with excellent map detailing. Good job!
  4. thank you, that solves that question. ;-)
  5. Sorry for not responding sooner. I'm on vacation and had no internet connection. Good point on how the real world physics affect rounds going to target, but with modern artillery computers already taking into account of weather, wind, distance and elevation I had the understanding that even with dumb rounds targeting would be as close as using exclaimer rounds. In regards to UAV spotting though I wonder if how spotting is done in game a bit unrealistic when it comes to spotting troops on the ground.
  6. THIS IS QUITE A NEAT SCENARIO. (SPOILER) First run at it I managed to kill the BMPs in the town easily with 2 AT4's and a javelin but lost about 35% of my force clearing the town. Seal Team 6, managed to clear the sea towers but by the time I secured the prisoner I was down to remnants of each squad at least 70% KIA or wounded. With the units from the town attacking the towers, I managed to sneak out ST6 and prisoner from the back and go around the outside walls to link up with the remaining units at the front entrance and then slowly exit out before the humvees arrived. In all about 80+% of the force were lost by the time they walked off the exit. Very tough and a good challenge. The ammo loads for my regular troops were nearly exhausted by the time they reached the prison. So I wasn't able to breach the front walls just shoot up the towers to keep the enemy heads down so ST6 could sneak past them safely. What was frustrating is that the spare AT4's and 3 javelins I had couldn't be used against the prison towers, unlike the RPG's the Russians have which can be used against armour, infantry and buildings. If it was possible to use the weapons at hand as easily in real life vs in the game this scenario would be a tad easier. Realistically though a US special ops would never attempt something like this. If the task force was limited on the ground as in this scenario, they would have force multipliers up the ying yang. There would be air cover to knock out the 4 prison towers at the very least and to overwatch for the Russian reaction force during the retreat. I would have wanted at least a couple of supply trucks to resupply the land force with 5.56, 7.62 and AT4's, plus I could use the 50's in the frontal assault of the prison. It would have kept the flavour of your scenario without making it overwhelmingly easy for the US force to win.
  7. When it comes to using UAV's I've noticed that its only able to spot vehicles. Troops in the open fields or moving on roads are spotted. Isn't this unrealistic. Cameras used in UAV's seem to me to be of very good quality and quite capable of viewing individual soldiers who are openly moving in open terrain or urban areas. If a UAV has thermal vision then troops in wooded areas or hiding in the shadows of buildings would pop up in the aerial videos. Why isn't this modelled in the game? Another question regarding the use of UAVs for artillery spotting. When calling in for artillery fire the first rounds are way off. I would expect that accuracy would be loose for Ukrainian and Russian troops but US artillery wouldn't they be more accurate on the first round? I know using precision rounds would eliminate the inaccuracy problem but for regular rounds considering the use of GPS data in figuring out exact range, even "dumb" rounds should be very close to exact? Anyone with knowledge on this?
  8. Russian tank-fired AT missiles are also supposed to be able to engage low flying helicopters as well as tanks beyond 4k to 7k. Whether there are any real-life instances of this happening in an actual war I don't know.
  9. This is a great campaign. I just finished it and found it quite the challenge even against the AI. I will definitely view your video with interest!
  10. The MGS never made sense to me. Against modern armor it wouldn't stand a chance, as a support weapon for COIN it was too vulnerable to go into any kind of urban area, nor did it have enough ammo for sustained operations. If they had any sense they could have used a 90mm recoilless rifle for close support and a pair of TOWs on 1-side and a 2.75" rocket pod on the other. Would have been cheaper and more effective. A SCBT rolling around in Eastern Europe was great PR, but I'm glad that's all it was. Stryker's look very puny if they had to go up against modern BMPs or BTRs.
  11. Re. the T90 I remember reading somewhere that even an updated T-72 with modern ERA was considered impenetrable by the 120mm L44 gun used in the Leopard and M1A1 as well as TOW missiles? I'm guessing though multiple hits from any auto canon would do serious damage any T series tank. Possibly damaging sensors from direct hits and from secondary explosions from ERAs? I thought I was pretty lucky at winning against the AI, but now that I've reviewed how the battle went...I doubt I'd have the same results playing HTH. Good for the ego though, LOL. Many thanks for your responses and observations!
  12. Not an answer, but another question. With 3D vision glasses on the horizon for gamers, will CM be able to make use of this technology somehow?
  13. Yes, no need to mention names lol. The thing is though the theocratic countries who funded ISIS have no control over them. If they had any in the beginning it was lost to them once ISIS declared itself a caliphate. Let's say the US stays the current course, Iraq implodes and ISIS overruns the country and begins massacring the Shiite population. Iran would be forced to declare war to save their brethren across the border. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait would be pressured to defend their borders from ISIS and Iran. Possibly SA would be compelled to cross into Iraq to prevent the Iranians from taking over Iraq. However the Saudi's to my mind wouldn't be able to fight their way out of a paper bag. Which is why they won't cross into Yemen because they probably know their own armed forces wouldn't be able to do squat against the Houthis. Plus if their forces are shown to be "losers" it opens the Sauds up for major criticism on the home front which would have the potential to create an Arab spring there. So the Saudi's will probably ask the US to put troops on the ground so their precious blood won't be spilt. As for Israel, why should they get involved. Arabs vs Arabs is a good thing for them. If you noticed ISIS itself is very careful NOT to do anything to aggravate the Israeli's. I think they know it wouldn't take much time at all for Israel to send all of their followers chasing after their virgins in heaven.
  14. I just finished my first battle of this excellent new game. Playing it through as the blue team against the AI, I managed a decisive victory although at the time could not believe I would be able to survive the horde of tanks and BMPs running towards me. What I found interesting was how deadly a M3A3 can be at close range. In one instance amy M3A3 was reversing off the main road into a grove of trees, just as 2-T90s come barreling through the burning smoke from the carcasses of 4 Tigrs that were destroyed in an ambush. Both tanks were sprayed from the left side of the road as they passed by the Bradley. With the reactive armor exploding on both tanks adding to the smoke and confusion on the road (30M to 40M) the 2nd tank turned it turret and dispatched my M3A3. The first tank however was disabled and immobilized with the crew jumping out of its hatches. 1st question, how accurate is this? Can a 25mm chain gun penetrate the armor of a T90? I recall a story where a Bradley during the Battle of 73 Easting, went over a rise and came face to face to a T72, shot their chain gun as they went into reverse, but was too close to use their TOW. A second Bradley came to its rescue and killed the Iraqi tank with a missile shot. That being the case how could my Bradley do so much damage to a modern MBT? Also the crew from both tanks were put in panic mode from this action. Tank vs tank throughout the battle I noticed the M1 being quicker to the draw. In the closing minutes of the battle, a line of 3 T90s were charging down the hill one after the other, through several layers of smoke screens. I had a M1 in the center swing right at the bottom of the hill moving on hunt towards the last smoke screen. As a T90 rushed out of the smoke my M1 KO'ed it into a burning hulk. Within seconds the 2 tank bumped into the lead tank and it's reactive armor deflected my first round and began reloading as the 3rd T90 smashed into the 2nd tank. The 2nd tank slowly began swinging its turret towards my tank, but was destroyed with the 2nd round from my tank. The last tank after it untangled itself from the pile up proceeded to move out and was quickly destroyed by the M1. Distance between the tanks was under 500M. 2nd question, is how the auto loader on the T90 works. Can it load from any angle or must the gun always point to the front as it does in the T62/64 series of tanks? Also it seems to me in the game that the sensors in the T90 is slower to pick up targets than the US armor and IFVs. All in all though, despite the T90's being massacred in this battle, they seem to be on a par with the US tanks in regards to defensive strengths and killing power of its main gun. Missiles and artillery are the kings of the battlefield with the aerial drone the queen, overseeing all. However when it comes to precision strikes, especially from 120mm mortar systems I wasn't very impressed. I had expected near 100% accuracy, but out of 8 precision rounds between 2 mortar carriers, only 1 hit home, striking the rear deck of the tank, without immobilizing it. All hits where near misses on stationary tanks, but a miss is a miss when destruction should be guaranteed? Anyone know how effective precision artillery is? Thank you and all best Lucero1148
  15. As far as the photo goes. To me the 2 turrets are very different from each other and in their surrounding areas. The first photo as another person pointed out has no burn or blast marks, nor can you see the blown tracks in the left rear of the background of the 2nd turret. Additionally where is the burned out body of the tank directly to the front/left of the burnt out turret. It seems unlikely to me that the 1st photo wouldn't have blast damage or carbon on the right side if the left side is covered with soot. If the turret was carried away from the body so that it's out out the photo I don't see any drag marks that should be visible in the sand. As for the state of Iraq or what's left of it. Good! Let them bleed for the idiocy of their social and political policies. Their gov't didn't want a SoF treaty and we left. It's not our fault that we left. They told us to leave, plain and simple. I think we should keep our ground troops out of this and let the Saudi's, Iranians and the GCC put their own troops on the ground to fight the good fight. No need for western "Crusader's" to fan the idealogical flames that ISIS claims is their reason for being.
  16. I've been searching on the forum on how to assign Unit Objectives in the Scenario Editor and can't find anything on this subject or in the battle manual. Does anyone have any easy explanation on how to assign unit their map objectives in the scenario editor please? The info given within the game itself says to go to Unit mode and use the shift & F-keys to assign map objective to the particular units. However on trying to do so on my MBP nothing happens. Is this a bug or the selection process is disabled? Thank you.
  17. Good to see a universal approval rating for CMRT! I've been waiting a long time for this one and $55 is cheap considering the amount of time one can play any CM series games and mods.
  18. Great work, very impressive and terrific details!
  19. What will the update cost? Any word yet? Also what is the next module after CMFI? Once a Russian campaign is done will there be a what if module like US vs Russian forces at the end of WWII in Europe?
  20. Thanks. I copy and paste the number generated on the web page. After I got the confirmation detail of my order im my email, I clicked on the link to download the commonwealth game, a authorisation number was in the block that allowed me to download the game. I used this same number (copied and paste) when I started up the game and it asked for the A. code. I don't think it's a typo failure. I didn't see any other number from BFC to use as an A. code.
  21. Ok, well I read what's on http://www.battlefront.com/helpdesk/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=188&nav=0,34,35 and that doesn't work as I mentioned in my 1st post , I enter the license key and get an invalid authorisation code. My internet is on so there must be some connection to bfc to rectify this? It does state that if I need to do a manual install which I don't I need an authorisation code, which I never got. So back to square one where the game will not open.
