    Ill informed? No, he's right.
    Armored brigade is absolute garbage.
Graviteam does not have the same micromanagement fidelity as CM.
War in the East is not the same scale.
Warno is the same garbage thats been pushed out since Wargame: EE.

I think I do too, I've tried most of those other games but what do I spend nearly all of my game time playing?  CM.

Those games are not direct competitors and offer a very different experience.  The closest game to CM I recall was "Panzer Elite" which was  far ahead of its time back in the last 1990's.  But, the CM2 series is way more sophisticated now.  So I agree with Aragorn:

And that is of course your choice, I've already bought it so my choice was different.
I originally read your post as enthusiasm for the IR sights, but reading it again I see it was more about non-enthusiasm for night battles.  I'm not so keen on night battles either, but the IR sight might add some fun (if it is included, which I'm still not sure about).

Yeah, that will teach them a lesson. 😄
Here's a thought. After BF has finally closed business (and long mey they rule), NO ONE will ever produce this kind of complicated and labour intensive wargames anymore. So let's praise ourselves lucky we've already got his much.

That's a great addition! In fact I already made a mod of it using the hull from R2V's Firefly Hybrid :

If I hear of an extremely late M4 75mm variant though, it would be the M4A1E9.
It was basically a "poor man's" HVSS suspension made by extending the VVSS's track connectors and achieving the same width and thus ground pressure. I believe these would start being present on the front around March 1945.
It seems only M4A1s were remanufactured, no M4's.

Seen here in service with the 2nd French Armored division in late April 1945 :

Here is an article on this.

To recapitulate, I hope the Sherman IC Firefly Hybrid (Commonwealth + Poles) and the Sherman IIA (Polish faction only) will be ported from R2V.

As I totally hate having immobilised vehicles (usually in a useless place) I like this.  The reason given for not having it was previously was that timescales for CM battles would not allow such recovery.  However, I'm in the middle of a 3 hour battle just now, so I don't think that's always the case.  If as you say it's only stuck in the mud and another vehicle can pull it out, why not?  Particularly if it's in the 'useless place' I mentioned where no enemies can see the recovery.  I would feel a great sense of accomplishment if I dragged a tank out of the mud.
I'm not sure we'll see it all the same.

From today onwards the final phase of the WIP starts with the aim of release on February 1st 😎
The plan provides for the following:
= 3-4 single missions have to be reworked after they failed during the testing. That is a manageable number.
= It still takes some hard work to place flavor objects in a few missions and make minor adjustments.
= Finally, the 20 master maps have to be „cleaned up“  for the players who want to use them.

= And at the very end - if I still have time 🙏🏻 -
I might add a little prologue mini action 😉

At this point, thanks again to everyone who helped and to those who are still working hard at the moment 👍🏻

I was doing soo well until my tank got hosed down by a hidden flamethrower team just at the critical moment and exploded like an A bomb 😱

Now I'm just goofing around. Here's an Opel Kadet 'flavor object' stuck on flooded ground. The cream color is the original factory paint scheme. The assembly plant wound up on the wrong side of the Iron Curtain and Kadets continued to be produced well into the 1950s. Post-war Eastern Bloc Kadets were painted in blues and reds and greens.

The 1st Polish Armoured Division used Sherman IIAs, they were refitted with them in Holland so I think they would have been available around the start of CMFB's timeframe. There is no reason not to have them in since they're in R2V, they just need the MTO markings removed and to be put into the TO&E.
Here are some pictures of them.

I found a caption for this specific one: "Sherman IIA of the Polish 10th Armoured Cavalry Brigade, KO'd in the Netherlands in late 1944"

I had pulled a bunch of screenshots for the guys but I don't know which they're going to use. So I'll post a couple of my favorites here to whet your appetite.
First, a tank I lobbied hard to get into the game - uparmored Sherman! One of a number of late war M4A3E8s that went through a field modification program that literally doubled the bow armor (which is now thicker than the Jumbo's). They acted as substitute/additional Jumbos in field units.

A combination of cancer treatment, and then needing to buy a new PC, means that I have built up a backlog of stuff to play. But, I will certainly buy this at sometime. Having been to Kleve for a meal once, and seeing how lovely it is, I might feel a pang of guilt if I have to pound it to bits. Ho hum.

I agree with the original poster of this topic. I have encountered this same problem. I think this is a definite issue that should be updated.
The smoke should still be available after all of the HE has been used.
I too would like a smoke mission. I have timed one off board artillery to wait and I was hoping to time its mission with an second off board smoke mission, but I no longer can because I just used up the HE available for the second off board artillery piece.
Again, the point is that the smoke rounds should still be available even after off board artillery have used up their HE.

Thanks. More than 70km2 of maps to fight over in this Battle Pack. I'm still creating two more smaller maps for two scenarios. Using a lot of BIGOT maps from 1944 and aerial photos for reference. Some master maps will have variants that will also be provided with the historical German Fortifications placed and ready to go. (<-- That took a while...)
As per last year's bones on the pack, geographically the fighting is focused on the Utah Beach area itself and the area heading south towards and beyond Carentan. All scenarios/campaigns occur between 00:05 hours on 6th of June through to the evening of the 13th of June. Don't expect all of them to be brutal slog fests, particularly the D-Day ones where the Allies at times had significant advantages. I'm going for more of a focus on narrative and experiencing that first week coming off Utah Beach rather than slug fests designed for competitive tournament play. (Master Maps are there if you want to create your own matches though). If you play the pack chronologically and come out the other end content and with a greater appreciation of the challenges the forces faced, then I've done my job.
The content in this part of the Normandy theatre, though popular, couldn't be created by BF as part of the CMBN base game given the absence of Fallschirmjager and Waffen SS forces in the WW2 titles at the time.

Ohhh boy I was actually gonna contact you regarding ideas anyways, but since the thread‘s here for all to see might as well do it here.
Eastern front is where it’s at IMO, so another 3-5 campaigns from there would be really cool. Here’s some of my top suggestions:
    1. East Prussia 1944 - Recapture of Gumbinnen & Goldap
One of a handful of instances where the Germans went on the attack in the late war period and won. I can envisage a campaign focused around the 5. Panzer-Division and how it aided in the recapture of Gumbinnen and Goldap respectively in the fall of 1944. You could also cover the same Division in East Prussia in early 1945, as it fought impressively in that time too!
    2. Retreat to Silesia 1945 - Nehring and von Saucken Floating Pockets
This one would be very similar to the Five Bridges campaign from your current battle pack. Essentially, you could follow the retreat of an assemblage of German units in their desperate withdrawal from the Vistula to the Oder River. Which they did in fact succeed in doing, though at great cost. You could focus on either the 16. or 19. Panzer-Divisionen, as these both played a key role in spearheading the retreat.
    3. Operation Gemse 1945 - Recapture of Lauban
This could make for a short but intense campaign that saw the Germans retake Lauban in March 1945. More research would need to be done to find the best storyline to follow, but the Führer-Grenadier Division as well as the 8. and 17. Panzer-Divisionen would be good candidates to focus on.
    4. Operation Südwind 1945 - Destroying the Gran Bridgehead
Another short and sweet campaign where either the 1. or 12. SS Panzer-Divisionen could be commanded in the fight to destroy the Gran bridgehead.
    5. Budapest 1945 - The Battle for the Hungarian Capital
You could make an awesome campaign here similar to the Our Father campaign from your battle pack. As with that campaign, the focus would be on the desperate defense of the city followed by a near hopeless breakout mission. The good news is that I have a good deal of documentation regarding individuals who  fought inside, and then successfully broke out from, Budapest. There are thus plenty of candidates that could take on the same role as Major Schmidt for this campaign.
    6. Warsaw 1944 - The Defensive Battles of IV. SS-Panzer-Korps
Red Thunder (and history in general) has already given plenty of attention to the fighting around Warsaw in early August 1944. However, far less has been written about the subsequent 3 defensive battles of Warsaw in August-October 1944. This is a shame, because in many ways these battles represented some of the finest hours for both the 5. and 3. SS Panzer-Divisionen. A campaign about these battles would help to fill this gap (and let’s face it, you couldn‘t resist doing another campaign about Totenkopf anyways 😄).
    7. Courland 1944/45 - Last Stand of Army Group North
This one would have to be a campaign with a greater focus on defense, however there is fortunately a lot of source material available for this time. You could make an entire campaign pack out of the six battles fought here, there’s that much to unpack. If this gets your attention then let me know and I’ll try to find some more specific battles to design a campaign around. One about either the 12. or 14. Panzer-Divisionen could be especially promising.
Now, bear in mind that if you’re prepared to cover purely defensive campaigns then the possibilities really are endless. Lmk if you’d be receptive to that and I could probably come up with more suggestions. Or, if you’d rather release another themed campaign battlepack (focusing on a certain theatre/timeframe) I could help flesh that out too. If you want to go down that route then I’d recommend a battlepack focused on either:
    a) Courland
    b) East Prussia
    c) Hungary
Your skills as a campaign designer are impressive in any case, so I look forward to seeing whatever does end up shaping up!

I hear you, Tim. First time my cleaning lady cleaned my study room, she thought I was some military nut, with all my books, military medals, battle paintings, swords and other weapons. She now knows me as quite harmless and peaceful, but one can't be too careful with proclaiming our 'hobby'. 😀

Worse than that George, at a comedy night in our village, the comedian asked if anyone had any Nazi books (whatever they are) and my wife shouted out that I did, based on such classics as Panzers in Normandy and The Battle of the Bulge Then and Now.
I am now the 'Nazi in the village' 😂.
More oddly, I was approached afterwards by a lady I knew, who offered me a copy of Mein Kampf.  I refused, saying it is not a good read 🤪.

Commanderski got a reaction from Mr.X in Survey for future BattlePack projects
The vast amount of forces, terrain and weather on the Eastern Front still provide a near unlimited amount of possibilities. There were literally thousands of smaller but intense battles that were part of much larger campaigns that have never been mentioned and neve will due to combat records being lost or destroyed. Whatever can be imagined has the possibility of what could have happened.
That being said you may want to see what's released with the new CMFB Downfall module later this month to see if you get any new ideas.

Its interesting this approach still resonates in more modern military manuals, guess attention spans of teens has not changed that much in 80 odd years...!
