  1. Well this explains the random artillery shells in my last game. 2 random shells right in the middle of 2 of my platoons. Not a pretty site...
  2. It appears that to use the inherit MG in a US halftrack you need passengers to man it? Maybe I'm missing something, but I always thought a halftrack had a driver and machinegunner?
  3. Count me in. Long time away, but back with this release. Not quite as prolific as some of you in the posting department though...
  4. Wow there are some old-timers in this thread. I haven't been back here much after Shock Force. Never could get into it. I'm assuming this thread indicates were finally getting back to WWII. Fine by me.
  5. Same here. It now works for me on 182.50 drivers, Vista32. Had to reduce to 1024x768 to get playable framerates, but I can at least play now.
  6. Be careful, "very soon" is a very relative term... and some of us are extremly ready to get back to WWII.
  7. pele - I think it is safe to say ALL 8800's have similar (probabaly exact same) performance issues. If you crank the settings down low enough you can get "decent" fps, 30+. Also, some people are ok with lower quality settings and/or less than 20fps. That's where I think the "red herring" lies.
  8. Charles is the only one I've heard so far that gets good performance on an 8800.
  9. Vista32 Business 2GB RAM 8800GTS driver v. 162.22 1920x1200 resolution Core 2 6700 @ 2.66 GHz nVidia Control panel options are at the DEFAULT OPTIONS: Vert sync OFF 3D Model Quality: Best 3D Texture Quality: Best Anti Alias: On High Priority: ON Using FRAPS: Battle: Al Hawl On start of battle I scroll around and get 8-20FPS with some lag at times. Mouse is somewhat slow and mushy. Lowering resolution to 1024x768 has little impact on FPS. *Note that shadows are OFF because they make infantry in certain terrain invisible and are non-existent anyway. (As of 1.02 & 162.22, I updated both at the same time) [ August 24, 2007, 05:28 PM: Message edited by: Stryker ]
  10. metalbrew - you only used the BTR's! Was this on your first play of the scenario? I used my infantry to flush out the enemy, but took a fair amout of casualties in the process. I agree it was an excellent scenario.
  11. I don't agree with the very low Gamespot score either, but why immediately assume the reviewer has only played non-Wargames? Not sure what "category" of wargames you are playing, but here's a quick check of some other Gamespot reviews: 8.4 Matrix Games: Battles in Normandy 7.0 ArmA 9.1 CM:BB 8.4 CM:AK 8.4 Gary Grigsby's: World at War 7.8 ToW 9.1 Close Combat 7.2 Strategic Command 4.5 CM:SF edit: after waiting YEARS for computer 3rd Reich, I thought it was a huge failure (IMO). Nice job on getting $80 for it.
  12. I'm now having this same problem after some upgrades. Turning shadows off worked. Since I upgraded my Vista32 nVidia 8800GTS driver to the latest version 162.22 (from 158.45) and CMSF to 1.02 at the same time it could have been caused by either one - or a combination of both...
  13. Steve, donĀ“t know if this helps, but I have zero problems with CMx1 AK/BB/BO on my machine. Also not a single problem with other OpenGL games. CM:SF however is running...uhm...imperfect to say the least. Specs are: Vista Ultimate 32 bit Core2Duo@3Ghz 4 GB DDR2-800 NVIDIA 8800 GTS 640MB NVIDIA 162.22 Forceware Hope you guys can patch this up to a workable state. cheers </font>
  14. Decent overall review. It's obvious it's based on more than a short playthrough and he really gets it. However, I don't agree with the low rating, but this comment was dead on in my opinion: "Artificial intelligence is largely missing in action, scenarios feel gimmicky and prearranged, and just about everything seems rough and unfinished." I agree, at least he stressed the potential of the game.
