  1. As I mentioned before bullet wound could be only surface wound not destroying bones or vital organs but only minor flesh wound which enables soldiers to carry on fighting, but of course bleeds to death after a while. I have read that in WWII there was many heroic soldiers who still continued fighting dispite of their wounds, of course submachine weapons were weaker in that time and men were maybe stronger those days. Anyway in WWII mentality was different, enemy must be stopped no matter what effort it would require, it really wasn't anykind of easy going war when you stopped fighting with one wound in your hand or leg. What comes to Russians there were officers their behind and shooting soldier from behind if you don't advance enough. I don't see it realistic that one minor wound with any kind of weapon will incapacitate soldier, not in WWII game. Here is quote from http://guns.connect.fi/gow/suomi1.html "Semi-automatic shooting was the recommendation during the Thirties. The doctrine was to use the KP/-31 as a self-loading carbine and save the option of burst-fire for urgency only. The Winter War experience taught the submachine gunners to shoot bursts of two to three rounds and during the 1941 - 1944 war it was known that no fewer than five or six 9 mm bullets were a sufficient dose of medicine. Wounded with shorter bursts, enemy soldiers could often continue fighting when they recovered from the initial shock even if the hits would prove fatal after a short while."
  2. I already bought this game and it looks like fun game. I haven't time to play with campaign, only played first training mission and try to figure how to play this game and also fiddling with server settings. I have Radeon X800 and game works well atleast in first training mission, everything set to high. I haven't tried it yet with my friend, but It should work with Hamachi. First start Hamachi and then you should disable Local Area Network in Network Connections, but not Hamachi Virtual Network, then start gameserver and after server is running jump back to Windows and enable Local Area Network again so it reconnects, now game should get correct Hamachi IP address. Wow, it has war preparation part too, this lacks in most of typical strategy games, except Civilization type games. I am looking forward to start campaign, but not just yet, before I learn to play this game. I really would like to be able to command everything in strategic level, as long as it is properly made game, but if you have too much units in 3D tactical battle it isn't manageable anymore, you should only be able to play small scale tactical battles not whole army level battles in 3D. Game should be well made so it is fun to play, GUI and everything else should be easy enough to control.
  3. I don't see that to be very realistic that only one bullet will incapacitate soldier nomatter where it hits, becouse lethality really depends from hit location and which is severity of strike. It could be only minor flesh wound, which enables soldier to continue combat. In WWII many weapons weren't so lethal as today weapons with high velocity bullets. Bullet looses its lethality if it drops too much speed.
  4. Player shouldn't need to control everything, only big strategical level of control and smaller battle level of control should be enough. Computer could solve battles between armies in 2-3 smaller player controlled battles between platoons or companies and computer calculates rest. But you should be able to control supply routes and factories in bigger strategy map and maybe even research and develop new secret weapons and tanks, which are historically accurate, player should only be able to distribute them between troops and armies. I would like to play many "what if" WWII scenarios.
  5. Ok, I noticed there is patch, doesn't it help with bugs? I remember that these revolutional games have been always filled with bugs, maybe becouse they are so complicated for developers to make. Braveheart (name was changed to Braveheart by publisher) game for PC was also filled with bugs but it was really first medieval era 3D tactical wargame, it was released year before Shogun Total War, but wasn't any success becouse of lots of bugs, I could not play through campaign but anyway played until it was crashing and it was still fun to play and after playing alot you really could predict when it was about to CTD
  6. Perhaps I have to also buy Pacific Storm Allies, it was new to me that this kind of game even existed, great news! What pixel shader support it needs, I only have shader 2 support in my graphics card? How about multiplayer? Does this game work with Hamachi VPN, I would like to play good strategy game with my friend also? I hope developers would concentrate more to create games which would be as versatile as you want, you could have full control of one single unit, but you don't have to, you could play only strategy part if you want.
  7. What is missing in Theatre of War is dynamic campaign with world map, this doesn't exclude historically accurate missions or campaigns, you could still be able to play and create them. Game should create tactical maps from real world maps and their topography and land should be deformable so you could dig defend position for tanks and troops yourself, of course with realistic resource control with factories and supply routes to frontlines. Somekind of combination of Total War game and Theatre of War. You could move armies but also fight smaller fights while computer calculates results according to your battle. For example: If you have three armies against one enemy army group then you would have three times more tanks in your battlemap and if enemy has managed to attack your supply routes then you will be lacking ammo or fuel.
  8. I reinstalled net framework and everyting is working, thanks.
  9. Mission/Campaign editor and BattleGenerator are crashing with following message: Map editor works ok, I have Windows XP SP3.
  10. I was talking about very realistic WWII first person shooter which plays like strategy game, like Red Orchestra strategy version, where you can control all units by yourself. Theatre of War has already good first person view, but you can't control soldiers, that would be cool if you could shoot yourself and run and do everything like in FPS game, but then you could zoom out and play it like tactical game, it would be more fun if you could zoom it out even more so you could control even armies in strategy level. Zooming in to single soldier level of control and zooming max to army level of control that would be unbelievable game, atleast something new in WWII wargame genre.
  11. You finally did it. I have been waiting this kind of game for years. Speed of action of war in your hands it is astounding, it really makes you feel like real armchair general. I have only played through few training mission and couple of other missions, but still this game feels like it is game that I wanted to play for long time ago. Infantry is very vulnerable like it should be against tanks and everything looks and feels realistic enough to be historic simulation of warfare during WWII, great work. There is lots of aspects lacking also, but there are more good things in this game than bad things. I especially like this feature to be able to capture enemy equipment in realtime during combat not after battle like in Combat Mission games, maybe it isn't entirelly realistic but it is fun. Then also you can reward medals and change crew members, one time I was wondering why my captured tank isn't moving, only to notice that driver was too unskilled, I changed driver and tank was moving again, I really like this kind of detail in games. Yesterday I was trying to go back playing good old Combat Mission Overlord again, only to notice how tedious it was, gameflow isn't never so smooth in turn-based games as in RTS games when you can press pause whenever you like and game isn't pausing in every single turn, it really gives you lot of more smoothness and freedom to gameplay.
  12. Infantry dies rather easily but not I don't think unrealistically easily, it really encourages to use good tactics and not suicide attacks against MGs and tanks. I don't know how good infantry is for attacking against tanks and MGs in this game, becouse I am trying to avoid making these kind of suiside/heroic attacks. Is there any combat gear to make ordinary infantry attack against tanks and fortified MG positions, like satchel charges and Molotov cocktails?
  13. My mistake, there is continue battle prompt after battle conditions are met, I didn't notice it until now, becouse I was losing every time in Steel Torrent mission, but finally I won it and got continue prompt.
  14. This is becouse victory conditions inside game aren't realistic, battle should end much before you loose all your soldiers, depending which countries are fighting and how many fanatics are fighting among soldiers. I remember that Combat Mission was much realistic in that way. When victory conditions are met, game should ask do you want to continue for trying to mow down all enemies just like in Total War games.
