I ve seen scenes like that as well. The best one happened in CMBN, when a SINGLE german soldier took out 2 tanks and 1 squads of infantry on his own within 120 seconds. He hit the first tank with panzerfaust, rushed towards the second one and killed it with a satchel charge. Then he mowed down the dismounting crews and a squad of infantry with his MP-40 and some grenades. I watched it like 50 times in disbelieve, it was so awesome!

Veteran US squad fighting in close wood land being overrun by a platoon. The quad is rattled and worse- I can't order them- running away

But the machine gunner stands up changes direction and starts blazing away. He runs about 15m towards one squad and fires standing at 2 different squads changes direction runs some more and stars lobbing grenades that stops the second Russian squad.

He's not the only one. A forward observer is on his own behind enemy lines after being overrun and is fighting 2 squads. He Killed 3-4 guys on his own in one minute.

It awesome experience to see, like watching a movie or story in the making.

Can somebody in the know confirm that this is coded for the odd guy to see red mist and go fanatic?

If I may quote the manual:
"The Stryker line of vehicles was developed as an answer to post-Cold War combat scenarios which often necessitated fast deployment across the world. The Stryker provides infantry with high strategic mobility while having a smaller logistical footprint than heavy mechanized units."

Even if it won't survive the environment, thats what it's supposed to do. It wasn't build for a war against a techological rival.

Wheeled vehicles are supposed to require less maintenance, they are potentially faster on operational level if there exists a road net...They are also cheaper, or so I've heard.
Wasn't the Stryker result of experiences from the Cosovo conflict in '99? Something packing more punch than a Humvee, yet way easier to deploy than a Bradley. The result being that you have considerable force on the battlefield quickly and you are able to hold your ground until armor arrives.

If you use your Stryker as a fighting vehicle, I'd imagine no, if you use it in it's intended role to transport and provide local support for the infantry...  I served for 6 years as an infantryman on BTRs and BMPs.  The BTRs just took us to dismount points and we did our mission on foot, our BTR was not trying to fight other vehicles.  I son't know te USA doctrine, but I don't think they are going to put a company of Strykers on line and assault through an objective with them.

10 minutes of great close-in footage of firing tests, ammo loading (still haven't figured out where the AGS-17 ammo fits in), vehicle on the move in digital camo and apparent in-vehicle CCTV display of fair size on which crew appears to be doing a Shoot-Look-Shoot gunnery engagement. Don't know whether this is some special rig for State trials or standard fit.

What is wrong with that, choosing the country you come from i mean? I would totally understand it if somebody does that, i would love to see the austrian Bundesheer too, despite it beeing laughably small and badly equipped when compared to countries like Germany or the US. I also prefer to play as Germany in the CMx2 WW2 titles because it was my grandfathers army, you know, i can somehow relate to that, and i even have a pair of binoculars from back than. I think it is absolutely normal to pick that country or faction you can relate to most, weather it is the US, Germany or New Zealand.  I am absolutely sure for example that most if not all USMC veterans on the forum are going to pick the USMC module as their personal favorite.

How is it so that Australia is always left out all discussions regarding forces deployable to Ukraine.
We have been everywhere the USA has wanted us to jump in and help.
I think the next module should include Australia.... oh and stop laughing;-)

Lets remember Russia's economy is about the size of Italy's and their budget is reliant on oil staying above $100 a barrel. They may be fielding BMP-4 but at the same time plain-Jane old MT-LB remains a mainstay.

Just thought I would comment on UK's defence cuts. The plan was to reduce the size of the "regular" army whilst increasing the size and capability of the Army Reserve, what used to be called the Territorial Army, to make up the gap.

That plan now looks in tatters as the rate at which people are signing up to the Army Reserve is laughably small. One statistic I read said that at the current recruitment rate it would take 25 years for the Army Reserve to be up to planned strength.

The other big "hole" in the UK armed forces is the lack of an operational aircraft carrier until 2020, but I don't think that is such a big issue for NATO operations as it only really hurts UK's ability to carrier out "independent" military operations in regions where aircraft cannot be based on land. For example, there would be no chance of the UK pulling off an operation like the 1982 Falklands War until the new aircraft carrier is operational.

Given the failure of the policy, I would think it will have to be changed soon, and most probably will be.

Heck, Canada is capable of deploying a brigade sized force and the CF is teeny tiny compared the the UK armed forces.

Adding Canadian forces gets my vote - but I am pretty biased

Naval infantry and USMC are a must. An expansion taking place around amphibious operations on Crimea, or around Odessa would be cool and take full advantage of the new amphibious vehicle mechanics.

Also if we got the unusual addition of German Kriegsmarine in Market Garden I feel it only right that Russian Marines are added in one of the modules. They were the first to into Crimea. Also very little custom art needed.

Sorry ... can we not write the Brits off on the basis of one BBC documentary about Afghanistan. The simple facts of the matter are:

The Brits are members of the UNSC.
The Brits hold many key appointments within the NATO Command Structure.
The Brits deployed a battlegroup to Poland in October:

    https://www.gov.uk/government/news/defence-secretary-visits-troops-deploying-on-training-exercise.

The Brits still spend more than most of NATO on defence.

Denuded they may be but the Brits remain capable of deploying a minimum Bde-sized armoured/mechanised ground force which I'm sure in the fictional World of CMBS would be a very much appreciated contribution to the CMBS International Coalition.

The Khrizantema and Shturm are purposely built to remain out of sight whilst their firing post and sight remain visible. The vehicle would be a completely different shape and armoured differently had they been envisaged to operate in a different way.
This is quite a big problem.

PSY reacted to Destraex1 in Will briefing sizes be fixed for this module? This is really important actually.
Save my eyes from straining at the tiny text and briefing pictures. Have been asking for this for a while and believe it is a really basic requirement.
It certainly stops me from reading the briefings a lot of the time because my monitor is not an old 1024 x 768 one.

Also would be nice to be able to hold down a hot key to speed over the map with the cursor. Some maps are a real challenge to get over fast.
Time is both money and holiday leisure time is worth double.

I really hope that these features will get the attention they deserve. They are not just window dressing but affect the basic functionality of the game.

Everything else including the new features I have been watching in Chris ND's videos look amazing and have got me interested! Thus my request for the features above.
This game is one of a kind and with no hint of close combat 3D and what it will bring there is simply nothing like it!

P.S. Terrain still looks shocking. I hope the textures are changed for this modern iteration.

P.S.2. Does this one have a proper campaign map this time around to bind the campaigns properly. I remember reading about campaigns being more advanced and playable this time around.

I apologize if I have bad English.

After conflict in South Osetia in 2008, organizational and staff structure got a few changes. The motorized company have been cut on personnel and armament: the HQ units have been cut on MG’s crew (PKM , PKP), but set into each squad replacing RPK. Personnel count in companies depends on type and can be 105 to 120 men.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    IFV (BMP) Motorized Company.
    Company HQ:
    1)Company Commander, 2)Deputy Commander, 3)Gunnery Sgt., 4) Ground Radar Operator, 5)RTO, 6)Senior Corpsman, 7)Gunner, 8)Driver.

!!! In some units there are 3-4 extra snipers per HQ squad. !!!

!!! There’s Radar Operator position, but in fact, there’s no men could operate them, as well as there are no radars themselves. Haven’t seen them by myself too. !!!

    Platoon HQ:
    1)Platoon Commander, 2)RTO, 3)Corpsman, 4)Sniper (SVD/SV-98) or Sniper pair (SVD/SV-98)

A normal squad with BMP consists of 9 men: 7 infantry men and extra 2 as BMP crew.
    Dismounted:
    1)Squad Leader 2) MG 3)AT 4)Assistant AT 5)Senior Rifleman 6)Rifleman 7)Rifleman
    BMP crew:
    8)BMP Gunner 9)Driver

!!! In some units, there’s no rifleman. One position is cut. !!!

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    BTR(APC) Motorized Company.
Same as IFV platoon, except for the sniper: there’s no one in HQ, but each squad has marksman (SVD) .
APC companies are added with ATGM platoon to withstand enemy armored vehicles.

    MT-LB Motorized Company.
Can’t say anything about this one.

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A word on snipers in Russia. Snipers in motorized platoons in AFRF are more like Sharpshooters/Marksmans compared to Western qualifications. Professional snipers are usually operating along company and batallion HQ’s or operating independently having their own tasks.
In massive military units, there’s special infantry platoon, from which the professional snipers and marksmen distributed into other platoons.
    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Radio Communication.
Radio communication in companies nowadays developed a way forward since 2008-2009, platoon commander can now contact with any of the squad leaders. There are two radiostations in squad now: squad leader has first, senior rifleman has the second. Snipers in IFV platoons also have radios.

    Optics.
There are 2-4 1P63 collimator sights per squad. It depends on commander how they would be distributed along the men (e. g. 1st and 2nd patoons consist most of the contract operators, means they’d get 4 sights per unit, rather then 3rd platoon with recruit men, who get 2 sights per unit). There are units fully complected with 4 sights per squad. Usually, there are 25-40 sights per company.
    There are no helmet-mounted NVG’s in units, but many firearm-mounted scopes ( 1P51 “NSPU-3” ), 3-5 units per squad, 30-50 per company.
!!! Some of contract operators buying themselves modifications for their firearms, e. g. optics (Western too), tactical grips, rail systems and so on. !!!

Some of HQ units bying themselves a thermal-imaging devices.

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In general, the motorized company of AFRF can be compared to one of 2005’ish era of US Army.
    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
