  1. I decided to upgrade my monitor about the same time CMRT was released. I opted for a 27" wide screen monitor (1920x1080). I HIGHLY recommend this for serious CM players. I no longer have to use the widescreen view option (which always led me to thinking the enemy was further away, which skewed by decision making). Now, with the wide 1920x1080 view on such a large area, I have much better situational awareness. It just feels so much easier to play the game. I find myself panning and moving the camera much less. More sense of immersion in the game, too. It is like a breath of fresh air. I could never go back to my old square monitor. Also, the 1920x1080 is just right; the UI is not too small, and everything feels good (my eyes are about 2-3 ft from the screen). Maybe I'm late to the party on widescreen large displays, but this is game-changer for me and CM! I highly recommend. cheers!

    Hey guys, I've posted the CM "silence" sound mods here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/5vuro7az273326e/QRml9HsKGx these work for CMFI, too. just copy to your mods or Z folder. background day/night combat mods silences the ambient combat noises. The music ones silence all the music in the game. Enjoy the peace and quiet!

  7. Been meaning to post this for a couple years now (ever since I added a second monitor). Here's what happens: if I am loading a game and I click off the CM screen (click on my other screen) and then click BACK onto the CM screen, the game will crash. The windows dialog: CM Normandy.exe is not responding and the only option that works is "Close the program" So, there appears to be a bug that does not allow you to click away from the CM screen while CM is "thinking" and then click back. Clicking back triggers a crash. Also, along these same lines, it would be very, very nice if it were possible to minimize the CM screen (windowed mode) so I could continue doing work on that monitor while CM is loading. As it is now, CM essentially takes over one of my monitors while it is loading/thinking (which sometimes can be a few minutes on the larger games)

    Hi Martin, yep, I suspected I might have screwed something up! I was going to wipe my computer anyhow, after doing the 8.1 update. My rule of thumb is: always start fresh when MS does a major release. I can say w/o a doubt that the computer is running much better now than it was when I tried the 8.1 update w/o reformatting. The reformat + clean install of W8 and 8.1 really went smoothly (CMBN aside) and the computer has never been faster. So, I actually would recommend that people follow the process you outlined in your previous post - their computers will be better for it, if my experience is any prediction. :-)

    Moon, good news! in replying to your question, I went to launch CMBN and input the license key so I could write down the error code. I pasted the CMBN v2.0 upgrade code in there, and it gave me a success and showed the two green boxes for CMBNv2.0 and the MG module. I had not seen that before. Now, I've successfully launched the game and all is well! MG launches no problem. So to recap my experience: 1. Reformat system drive 2. install Win 8 3. install 8.1 update 4. install CMBN and activate successfully 5. install v101 patch 6. install CW module and activate successfully 7. install v111 patch 8. install v2.0 upgrade, skip activation because it only allowed "offline" activation when I tried to use the v2.0 key 9. install v2.01 patch 10. install MG module and activate successfully 11. unable to launch CMBN 12. run activation and paste in the CMBN v2.0 product key, result = two green boxes and game launches like normal again hope this helps!!

    When I got to the the activate CMBN 2.0 step, it forces an activate offline dialog. I entered my key and then it gives me this: Here is your Request Code ... Please contact your vendor for further instructions Please enter your Authorization Code: Edit: So, I just skipped that step and installed MG module. Since I've installed the MG module, when I launch CMBN it prompts me for activation, but the only key it will accept is the MG key. It says it is activated with that key. unfortunately, the game no longer launches using any of the methods suggested. it just takes me to that same activation screen, and if I press launch from there, nothing happens.

    Hi Moon - yep that is exactly what I did. Total system reformat, then 8.0 then 8.1, then the game (in the order of the versions) I should add: the only hiccup in the process was when I installed the CMBN 2.0 upgrade - it would not allow me to activate that online, so I just went ahead and installed Market Garden module.

    Same problem for me, even with a clean install of Win8.1. Latest from BFC is: "since this is a Windows issue most likely, I doubt that there will be a patch, to be honest, for this specifically." if true, this would be a total bummer, as it would mean Market Garden is not playable on 8.1 until MS releases an update.
  13. nope they are totally empty of all types of ammo. How do you scrounge ammo? I never even knew that was possible!!
  14. I'm in a desperate situation in a game, out of ammo, and contemplating a charge from behind into a hand-to-hand combat situation. I'm wondering: is hand-to-hand combat even modeled? If so, has anyone tried it out? Will my guys stand any chance if the enemy squad still has ammo? My ammo-less squad is hiding (unspotted) about 5 meters behind the enemy squad.
