Aaaah, I see now. Well with that said, wouldnt it be interesting if they did model one track thrown thus being able to just turn? Wouldnt that be realistic as well? Im no pro on this but surely that happened just as often, or no? [ October 09, 2002, 10:33 AM: Message edited by: gunnersman ] -

Yes, but, explain how a tank with one track couldnt at least turn. Granted it would be difficult and slow. Why not a "rotate to" command still available. -
I am reading the book "Tiger Ace" by Gary L Simpson. I am sure many of you have read it. But for those of you who haven't its about Michael Wittman, SS Tank Commander who is famous for 135 tanks kills on both fronts. Anywho, I was reading where Gary Simpson mentions how the StugIII would lose a track and how that limited mobility severly but they could still turn, albeit difficult. I have always wondered why this wasnt simulated in CMBO or CMBB. Why wouldn't a tank at least be able to turn with one track, hmmmmmm? 'Splain that one. The Other Matt

I think it was the same in CMBO, for whatever reason. The LMG42 had a similar firepower rating with SMG squads. It was high at longer ranges and the closest range was relatively low. -

2-man Turrets: Bug, or Feature?

I had a problem on the "Approach to Sevastopal", where my Flak 36 was targeting an infantry unit when it came under fire from an enemy tank 1000m + and the 88 still fired at the infantry. Is this simulated fixation of the spotter spotting rounds? There is another instance in the same game where the 88 is idle and is being shot at by enemy armor at around the same range as stated above but is oblivious to it until I force it to target the armor in the next turn. :confused: WTF? -

Its the Skfz 7 with the 20mm AA gun on it. I forget the proper designation but that's the one. I have two of them in clear line of sight of any aircraft, I would imagine. Its purpose is to shoot down airplanes. Like I said, when the second attack run was made on my armor only a SPW(I forget the number designation on those also)APC started tracking the aircraft with no movement at all from my AA gun.

I know there was another thread done on this not too long ago but I couldnt find it and Im at work and Im in a hurry. Anyway the situation is I am playing a certain scenario where I am the Germans and I have two 20mm halftracks. Well a Sturmovik (Im assuming it is a Sturmovik. It dropped cluster bombs, is that cool or what? However it sounded like it had a siren like my Stuka's) flew right over my tanks as well as one of 20mm halftracks and took out one of my Skfz7's and the 88 it was towing. My 20mm halftrack didnt even flinch. It's sitting in the wide open. Another pass was made over my armor and the only one to shoot were one of my APC's who started tracking it with its MG34. WTF?! My halftrack 20mm has great LOS its on the high/back side of a hill in a defilade out of immediate sight of any guns on the other side. Am I doing something wrong that I have missed. I have found nothing in the manual. Is this a bug. I dont remember what the conclusion was in the other thread. Oh and another thing. If the first pass made wasn't one of my Stuka's, did the IL'2's or any other soviet attack aircraft have sirens too? Because it souned like it had the "Horns of Jericho" sirens like the Stuka's had. Help or do somefink.

Are you sure it wasnt a black box? Those things are pretty tough from what I understand, maybe they can take out tanks if you throw them hard enough. -

I know this sounds like a dumb question, but I would pour everything I had on to those spotted Germans with my conscript infantry as well as HMG's, mortars and tanks and insults. Would that just be considered one big base of fire? I mean, I would use every friggin conscript that was with in sight no matter how far. -
While playing the Yelnia Stare Demo, I too had to adapt to the fact that my conscripts werent going to get very far just running headlong into the German lines. What I did to adapt was this; when ever German infantry were spotted by my conscripts I would immediately target as many as my troops as I could on the spotted Germans and lay down tremendous fire on them until the Germans broke and ran. Now, I being the non-grog or, "grog lite" as some might say, and not knowing everything there is to know about the history of WW2 and military tactics as it applies to any given military, realized that this might be gamey (Alot of what I learn is from this forum). I have always been of the mind if your not bending the rules your not trying hard enough ( I dont cheat but I dont mind finding the fine line). I am an honorable man and like to do things the right way and I understand the concept of relative spotting and the problem of applying it to computer gaming. I also understand that the Russians used human waves. Would it have been more appropriate (historically accurate) to use smoke or rely more on my armor to advance my troops or is the ok to do as I did as mentioned above? Hmmmmm? Now Im no "grog", relative to some folks on these boards, and I havnet mastered the art of warfare as some seem to have from the way some speak about it. I know what I like though. Maybe I am just easy to please, but this is one of the best games (WW2 or otherwise, excepting IL-2 Sturmovik, on par with, I would have to say) I have played judging from the demo and one of the scenarios I have played as well as a simple little scenario I cooked up just to play with the Sturmtiger. There is obviously alot of TLC that went into this game and it shows. You guys out have outdone yourselfs. I played the "Late Wittman in the East" scenario for some Tiger action as soon as I loaded it and I was very pleased, hell I had a blast. Im getting diarhea of the fingers here, I dont want to make this too long. To keep it short, the MG42 sounds are awesome(I love those the most) and gameplay is excellent. Keep up the goodwork.
