  1. It's $20 plus SH if you want both the download and the disc and printed manual.

We can't do anything about the shipping cost, unfortunatelyl we're passing on our actual cost, and the USPS keeps increasing prices (we actually swallowed the last several increases without passing them on to the customers).

  2. An online DRM system is very intrusive, and requires regular or periodic internet connection in order to play. We have decided not to go that path.

Sorry to hear about your Windows and hardware issues. But it is those issues causing you problems, not our licensing system, which is flexible and non-intrusive, and like you say, there is always the support desk to help you out if you need a license reset.

  3. I got the same message. I had already tried Atomicgamer, but McAffee told me the file was infected with a trojan or spyware and abandoned the download.

So at Gamershell I decided to take a chance and download anyway.

But I do think it is a problem that I have to disregard warnings from my anti virus programme to get a patch.

umlaut, yes, there is a problem, but it's with the anti-virus program. You can change the settings and behavior of your anti-virus program. You can crank it up and not allow any access to the internet if you want. Or flag any file that is encrypted as potential malware (as is the case here)/ Or you can crank it down and not let it do anything automatically without prompting you first.

It IS a problem that anti virus software these days seems to be poorly documented and come with default settings that quarantine files on suspicion. Especially if these files otherwise are entirely harmless, identity signed, and have no access to any admin stuff on your PC (like our games). But no matter how often we bring this up with the various anti-virus vendors, inevitably the next update is rolling back any improvements, it seems.

    So your options are:

    - whitelist the program in your AV. You'll have to consult your AV program documentation on how to do it. In order to make sure it's not infected, make sure that when you install it, Battlefront.com, Inc. is listed as the creator of the software.

    - contact your AV vendor and tell them that their software identified a false positive. They can then adjust their filters (well, until the next update I guess).

    - buy a Mac ;)

  4. Rabelesius, this indicates that whenever you launch the game, the anti-piracy solution kicks in, because it doesn't recognize your computer. Each time you entered your license key used up one activation, and now you're out of activations.

Please follow the link Hubert gave and we'll reset your key.

However, you should uninstall the game and reinstall it. Something seems to be wrong with your install. It could be permission issues, or some other Windows problem. You must also make sure to launch the game with the same user that installed the game.

  5. Not sure what the fuss is about... Nothing changed from how we're doing things.

The drop down menu shows the unadjusted full price. The price you pay is the price shown in the cart, which is the advertised (reduced) price. None of these prices shows Shipping&Handling.

S&H handling is always added to any product with a mail component, I.e. Mail Only and Download&Mail. It is not applied to Download Only.

Download&Mail is usually higher in price than Download Only or Mail Only. The prices have the cost for the download or the cost for the printed goods figured in, not both, so the price is a little higher if you want both.

Our Knowledgebase at www.battlefront.com/helpdesk has all of these details and more, btw. Look in the "Store" category.

  6. Mind you, you're paying your country's VAT for anything you buy in your country. It may be included in the price already, so you don't see it, but you're paying it for everything. So you shouldn't be thinking about this as extra.

There are no plans right now to stock up the EU warehouse anytime soon. And over time, you will be seeing more and more new releases come from the US warehouse only.

  7. Moon,

It would greatly facilitate direct discussions of CM related game matters if we didn't have to sanitize links to avoid breaking Forum Rules. Please consider modifying the Rules so that we may more effectively carry on our discussions on topics directly pertinent to BFC's games.

    Regards,

    John Kettler

    Sorry, no exceptions.

  8. Thanks for looking into this, Steve. As I said in my OP, I installed on my laptop Thursday... one install and one activation. I didn't even open the game again after I realized it was going to have problems running on my laptop.

At home, my computer does run through my AV receiver, but I haven't noticed any issues with CMBN. In any event, I'm not in an extreme hurry now because I couldn't wait and went ahead and purchased another license. I'm annoyed that it cost me another $55, but not nearly as irritated as I was when I couldn't play at all ;)

Rake, you don't need to buy anything twice. See my PM.

  9. kelpie, the contract you enter with us does not include guaranteed hand delivery of the email notification. Emails get spam-blocked or lost or rejected. We cannot configure your spam filters for you, nor are we responsible in any way for what your internet service provider does. Did you enter your email correctly when you purchased? Did you whitelist sales@battlefront.com to make sure that you receive the email? Even those things do not guarantee email delivery, though.

  10. The Manual Activation web interface only works for certain games. Did you see the note on the page? Most importantly, it does NOT (yet) work for CMFI. In order to do a manual activation, you will have to contact www.battlefront.com/helpdesk and include both your license key and the activation request code, and we'll send you the activate code in return. Sorry about the extra step, but the interface isn't ready yet for the new game.

  11. I could probably be lazy and simply copy&paste what I've written for the previous dozen or so releases :) Preordering a download doesn't make much sense. You won't be able to download it any quicker than the game is out. So we use preorders to

    a) gauge better how much hardgoods we need to print.

    B) give preorder customers a discount on getting hardgoods (going on the assumption that people who preorder are more likely to want both a download and a printed manual or limited edition box, for example)

    c) give preorder customers a little head start on the game release as reward

This works very well for several years now, and we intend to keeping it this way.

Download only delivery options are usually available within 24 hours after the preorder guys have been notified. They're available now :)
