Just a quick headsup that it looks like Combat Mission Touch topped the charts at #1 for the sim and strategy game categories in the AppStore already after a few hours today. And it's steadily climbing up the top 100 chart of ALL AppSales, currently at rank 67 outselling Call of Duty Black Ops (#69) We'll post an official tally-up of the rank for the release day tomorrow once we get all the numbers in from the different countries. Thank you in advance for the support! Clay will post some news about the first planned (free) v1.1 update tonight or tomorrow. Martin

OK its nice and all that ...

Yeah, Campaigns are planned for future in-app purchases. Make sure to post reviews/ratings in the AppStore/iTunes. The more reviews and ratings we get, the higher the chance for the app to be picked up and featured by Apple! Once that happens, I promise everyone who voted a free scenario pack! Martin -
Combat Mission: TOUCH for iPad
Moon replied to Steiner14's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Personally, I think it's a decent introduction. The UI is simpler, the scenarios smaller, which means that you can repeat them fairly quickly to "master" some basic tactics. Don't expect to win right away (I lost my first couple of battles), but you can rinse/repeat quickly. There are some differences with CMBN though which means that your experience with CMTouch won't be directly translatable, though. -
How do you sort out your units in a Quick Battle?
Moon replied to CM1fan's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Doubleclick on the HQ unit(s). This will highlight/select all subordinate units automatically and you can move them out of the way and get a rough organization going, which you can then later finetune. -
The underlying engines are different, so in short, tha answer is no. Which doesn't mean that the FX in CMBN won't be updated sooner or later, however.

Combat Mission: TOUCH for iPad
Moon replied to Steiner14's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Full game. -
You should seriously consider it. The difference between iPad 1 and 2 is huge (unlike arguably the difference between 2 and 3). If you trade in your iPad 1, you probably won't have to spend more than $100-$200 out of pocket for 2.

Gamecenter is integrated. -
Yep, the iPad 2 is a great platform and powerful compared to earlier tablets, but we are quite a ways away from being able to play CMBN on it. Make no mistake though, CMTouch is pushing the envelope of what you can get as an app these days. It offers 4sqkm maps for example. This isn't just some spitting-range RTS! No editors. 7 missions included in the app. It is all in the announcement. Not sure yet what scenario packs will cost, we'll see. But certainly less than the full game, so 0.99 or 1.99 is much more likely than 4.99 Martin

Yes solo play is enabled. CMTouch is not CMBN for the iPad. But it comes close, and when you know the desktop versions, you will feel right at home. Truth is that the iPad cannot quite handle the full game. Heck, some desktops cannot handle it.

So is CMSF for MAC the big stuff that's been hinted at?
Moon replied to Sequoia's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
There are bigger things on the horizon involving the regular game. -

WEGO vs RT-Is it age related?
Moon replied to Stingray's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
When playing RT next time, simply slow down a little. Allow your guys to rest and do nothing occasionally for a few minutes. If you play RT at the same pace as things evolve in real world time usually (which is a LOT slower than every RTS out there), then you will realize that RT is both realitistic and enjoyable to play. It's easy to feel tempted to rush things in RT. Resist that and you will like RT as much as WeGo. -
My Mac Patch Installation Idiocy
Moon replied to rik.smithson's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Well, difficult to say what it could be... But the most likely explanation, baring any other facts, is that your install path is incorrect. Triple check it. The patch path needs to point to the folder where the app is. Notice that the game originally installs in a sub-folder (the docs are in the main folder)! -

What error are you getting when you try to launch, if any? -
Yeah, DEP implementation is buggy, especially in early versions of XP (and on early motherboards that support it). Make sure to upgrade to SP3 if you haven't already.

Jawdropping good... Amazing job! Martin

Commonwealth and CMSF have zero in common, there isn't anything between the two that would influence the launch. Well, unless you installed Commonwealth into the CMSF folder or something like that. The error you see is often related to DEP (data execution prevetion). Enter that as search term at www.battlefront.com/helpdesk for a number of possible solutions in the Knowledgebase, and if you still require support, click on "Submit Ticket" there.
