  1. Sorry have not been following the forums. What Is the policy with CMBS. Do you still get a # of licenses on purchase (i.e. one for laptop/desktop etc?) IIRC it was 4 ? Just curious. Also is there a incentive for the pre-order?

Looks as usual an amazing platform again.

Yes, the same licensing/EULA rules apply. The incentive to pre-order is that you get the download and the disc without the additional $10 price tag, and you'll get the Limited Edition Tin Case.

  2. Is there a grace period for peeps who purchased CMBN about... two weeks ago?

    You shouldn't need one.

If you purchased a download and it included the 3.0 Upgrade or the VPack, then you have what you need. Just redownload the Upgrade.

If you didn't, then you need to purchase the Upgrade now, and you'll have what you need.

We switched the mail discs over to this new installer system more than two weeks ago already.

  3. Combat Mission Battle for Normandy - News Saturday, 20 December 2014

As previously rumored, we have now updated all CM:BN packages available for purchase to Game Engine Version 3.0, meaning that all of the packages available in the www.battlefront.com/store now are fully up to date v3.11. This also marks the end of life of CM:BN v2.x, which has now been discontinued.

As part of this update, we have also implemented our new master installer system for CM:BN. Here are some of the highlights:

1- every full version download will always be up to date from now on and always include the latest updates. No need to patch after purchase. And if you need to re-install at some later point, simply re-download your purchase and you will always have the latest version without the need to apply individual patches.

    up_to_date.png

2- every full version download including a base game purchase, or the 3.0 Upgrade, now contains the full master installer for the entire family including all modules and packs. This means if you purchase just the base game, and later decide to purchase a module, you will not have to download anything at all! All you'll need is the license key from your purchase to unlock the module content which you'll already have!

3- we implemented this system retroactively for all 3.0 Engine Upgrade purchases! Your store download for that purchase now points to a full master installer, including all of the content for Normandy, updated to v3.11. If you ever need to reinstall, that's the only thing you need. And, as per 1- above, this download will always remain up to date in the future.

4- future patches or modules or packs not containing a base game purchase will come with smaller installers with more or less just the content you'll need, to avoid excessive downloads. So if you're up to date already except for the latest release, you won't have to re-download the whole master again.

5- this system will enable us to, in the future, allow h2h play between players who do not own the same content. In other words, you'll be able to play against someone with Commonwealth Forces, even if you haven't purchased that module. You won't, of course, be able to use content in solo play if you haven't purchased it yourself. Note that this is planned for future releases, not a new feature available now!

6- this system will make reinstalls much easier, as well as relicensing on a new PC, and will reduce the risk for installation errors. Moreover, this new system is not using individual module.exe files any more, making it much less prone to anti-virus software false positives.

7- Older purchases of CM:BN - 1.x and 2.x - have not been updated and remain accessible to those who purchased them. We strongly recommend these users to purchase the 3.0 Upgrade, however, which will replace their game with a 3.0 engine and the simple one-stop full master installer.

8- if you purchase a Mail Delivery (Download & Mail or Mail only), you will automatically receive a disc with the latest version available at the time of shipping. If, in the future, you would like to receive an updated disc, you will be able to request one by submitting a ticket at battlefront.mojohelpdesk.com. You will need to pay $5 plus the usual S&H.

Combat Mission: Fortress Italy and Combat Mission: Red Thunder will be updated to this new system next year. Combat Mission: Black Sea will already be available using this same system.

    Happy Holidays!

  4. We don't sell patches. There is an update for $1 or so as a courtesy to Paradox customers who were left out in the cold, and which transforms the game to a BFC release (with key). Other than that, your license key from your Battlefront purchase is either in your customer account, or printed on the product, or, for purchases older than 2007, can perhaps be requested by submitting a ticket at http://battlefront.mojohelpdesk.com

  5. Combat Mission: Red Thunder v1.03 patch (PC/Mac)

CM: Red Thunder - News Friday, 19 December 2014 ru_soldier-100.png

The v1.03 patch provides a number of important improvements and fixes, including the infamous "26% bug" for those affected, improved stability of internet play, improved building entry for some systems, a mouse text targeting feature indicating range, improved TacAI logic, and much more. It is all-inclusive and can be installed over any version of the game (1.0 thru 1.02)

The v1.03 patch is available for PC and Mac.

    redthunderlogo_final-v155.pngCMRT v1.03 WHATS NEW
    • Corrected the PBEM/saved-game crash bug (note: applies to v1.01 and v1.02 but not old saved games from v1.00).
    • Corrected the “pause bug” when dragging a waypoint.
    • Shrapnel is modeled with higher fidelity.
    • Antiaircraft weapons won’t shoot if the gunner is hiding.
    • Vehicles that are hiding are more difficult to hear, even compared to stationary non-hiding vehicles.

  6. Yeah, but I like the old way, getting an immediate notification when there is a reply, and then nothing more until I visit the thread, even if there are more replies before I visit the thread. So, there are now only two choices, either an email message for each new reply, or just getting a daily/weekly digest once a day or week?

I dunno. Explore the Notification settings.

  7. It seems that with this new forum, there is an email notification sent out with every post of a followed thread. Is there any way to get back the old function, where only one message is sent out until the thread is visited? Kind of annoying to open the email inbox and see 10-20 emails for a single followed thread.

This totally depends on your Notification settings. You can opt out of email notifications for replies and only leave the daily/weekly digests enabled, for example.

  8. We're VERY aware of that. Ask us how we deal with this during beta testing! (No, don't, unless you like long sad stories).

So, we've come up with a new way to deal with this issue, and already have begun switching to it from 3.10 on. In fact, customers who purchased the Vehicle Pack disc (mail only or download&mail) are already benefitting, because they got a disc with the FULL family including ALL materials, so this protracted procedure isn't needed any more.

The same benefit will be extended to all download customers, too, and we'll be tackling the conversion this week after the forum migration is done and over with. What will happen is that all 3.0 Engine purchase downloads will be converted to a BIG MUTHA master installer, and it will always be up to date automatically as patches are released. It'll be the only thing needed for a re-install. And if you purchase a module later on that was released but you didn't get, you won't even have to download anything.

More details about this at a later time.

The forum will be shut down for the migration shortly.

Thanks. As it happens in the end I did a full install from scratch and it all worked perfectly. The sequence was

    CMBN + Commonwealth Bundle

    1.11 patch

    2.0 upgrade

    Market Garden

    2.12 patch

3.0 upgrade - at this point I activated the game using the 3.0 key

    Vehicle Pack

Activated base CMBN + Commonwealth using original key

Activated Market Garden using its key

    3.11 patch

All active. No glitches whatsoever. Mind you this process is incredibly unintuitive and required a lot of reading, and trying to understand what is going on as I have yet to see official or unofficial instructions that are truly complete. Not for any lack of effort on the part of folks here, mind you. Members have been outstandingly willing to help. I've dealt with helpdesk before and they are also very nice, but really, installing a patch or an add on to a game should not require tech support.

In fact, the activation system is a massive hindrance to my enjoyment of the game. I have had to not install it for months because I know I will need to wipe my computer and am afraid I'll run out of activations. I wipe my computer for a number of reasons on at least an annual basis so this isn't a question of needing just one more activation.

The system is asinine and a turn off for friends who I've wanted to convince to try the game. Whoever heard of NOT installing a game you legitimately paid for because you MIGHT not be able to run it for licensing reasons?

I like Battlefront, I like the game, but this system...yeeesh.

  9. You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but quite frankly, it's not based on facts.

    a) the activation issues you are facing right now is based on a widespread cloud server outage at Microsoft which affects XBox as well. (google "Microsoft Azure Cloud")

    B) your frustration should be directed at pirates that force us to use activation schemes in the first place

    c) you will be hard pressed finding pirated versions of recent Battlefront's games. In fact, over the past couple of years, the only ones we were able to find were either malware infested frauds or pirated versions based off of third party retail releases (i.e. not using our protection) and hence outdated.

  10. Edit: darn, missed the part that said: "Please make sure to download all preselected files. They will download as a zip file. Extract the zip file into a location of your choice, then launch the CMBN_Setup.exe file to start the installation."

Mightily strange procedure for a little hotfix pach I must say, he he.

Get used to it, all patches (and full version installs, too) will be like this. This is part of the all-in-one installers we're switching to. This has many advantages, which I'll describe in a lot of detail in the near future when we update all of the existing product bundles. Users who purchased the Vehicle Pack as a mail option already saw a glance of it, because they have the entire game package on one disc already. Download customers who purchased 3.0 and the Pack will get the same benefit (soon).

It may be a little confusing now, but down the road, it will make reinstallations, upgrades, and all that MUCH easier.

  11. Yes I do have VP installed and activated already.

So just to make sure, in order for me to patch the game to 3.11 version I need to download the following files:

    CMBN_Setup.exe

    CMBN_Setup-1a.bin

    CMBN_Setup-1b.bin

    CMBN_Setup-1c.bin

    CMBN_Setup-1d.bin

    CMBN_Setup-1e.bin

    normandy v311.brz

    Correct?

That still nets me almost half Gb of data needed to be transferred. I already see ho how people will get irritated by this.

Why such a decision and not just a simple inclusion of 3.11 .exe patch intallation file?

The reason is that there is more going on here than the game patch. Your installation is updated to use a new system, which does not use Module.exe files any more. You also get a complete installation of the game including all game files (eventually).

This isn't the right place for more details, however, as it will confuse you even more. Please follow the installation and download instructions from the download page and you'll be golden.

  12. Please read the instructions on the download page: if you don't have the Vehicle Pack, you have to download ALL of the files, and run the CMBN_Setup.exe installer. This will do everything for you. If you already have the pack and want to reduce the download size, then you can deselect the brz files you already have. But in either case, you MUST download the CMBN_Setup.exe files (including the .bin files).
