Few things I have been working on for your gaming pleasure! Still have work to do for the full RT mod but this was a nice change of pace and theater. It's the early stages but I have been itching to get moving on all the other titles. Mord.

Did you miss the announcement? It was a limited release for just two days last week. Incredibly exciting! Michael

@Battlefront.com Why do you do this to us? We just want to love you, hug you, and give you all of our money. Crazy thing is, you won't even just take the money. This is a very complicated relationship. I think we need counseling.

Nice poem 😂 I've got nothing better to do so here's another one 😂 : There is a game by Battlefront, that rules the gaming league Combat Mission owns this title, and none other can compete. But sadly the game never released, and stayed in development mode, And even after thirty years, people still wait for it to go.

I will throw in my simple request that has bothered me since their very first cm game. Add a blasted wind directional arrow to the directional compass or something along that lines. drives me crazy that the only way to tell which way the wind is blowing and how strong is to pull up the text in the briefing. Wnen I am looking at a enemy position from a friendly location, I should have a arrow indicating that. instant knowledge as to what likely to expect of smoke and such.

Sd.Kfz 251s: Not just battle taxis

The received wisdom in CM circles seems to be that 251s are battle taxis which unload hundreds of meters from the foe, but I would note that we also had plans to fight from our ARMORED INFANTRY halftracks, including firing bazookas. Here is how German war artist Hans Liska depicted the 251 in battle am Ost. This is very much like the "Welcome to Africa!" given by the DAK veterans to a newly arrived TORCH unit. The welcome consisted of an attack out of the setting sun, lots of shooting and grenade throwing, an about turn and disappearance into the darkness. That story is in the anthology of battle stories released by BFC in support of CMAK. https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Commande… Here is a brief description of Panzer Grenadier tactics, which included, depending on the situation, fighting from the halftracks. If we ever get Barbarossa this would be pretty common. Brother George, quite the student of German tactics and a retired Army Scout of 20 yrs. experience, gagged when I talked about 251s as mere battle taxis, pointing out they leapfrogged each other in what we would call bounding overwatch. http://axisafvs.blogspot.com/2015/03/panzergrenadier-tactics.html Mutual support (mostly from MGs) is clearly shown in this excellent Panzer Grenadier training film, as is the fact the 251s are rolling close to the the foe before debarking infantry. The shot up foe is then subsequently flamed by Flammpanzers driving smack into the enemy occupied area and making like dragons, with the multiple flame projectors providing tremendous arcs of fire. There are no CM battle taxis anywhere in this film. As noted in the article, tactics change considerably if facing a serious AT threat. Regards, John Kettler

    Artillery advices needed

Light infantry in open air positions without top cover of any kind. Soft targets in minor entrenchments, small structures, and heavy weapons. HE rounds stand a good chance to wreck crewed weapons. Most targets lighter than a tank. Very profitable caliber when used against weapon crews and makes short work of most structures. Anything. A really ubiquitous caliber for the most part that makes sense against all targets. Good for use in suppression or destructive fires. Airbursting rounds will cause casualties over a wide area. Destructive. Even heavy armor should proceed with caution. Will level most structures and wipe out entrenchments with ease. See above in most cases. Grid square removal. In the old days this caliber was the lighter end of siege guns and naval artillery. I actually think this range starts to become counter productive at the tactical level. The rounds are so dangerous that your own men need to keep well away from them. Best used against map rear areas. Angles of fire. Also organization. Mortars are almost always left to the infantry although sometimes heavier mortars will be Division or Corp assets. Field guns trace their lineage back to the age of cannon and musket, being useful in both indirect and direct fire roles. Few exist today. They were usually lighter guns, prioritizing mobility over power but these descriptors varied widely by Army. Howitzers are typically large guns intended for destructive, indirect fire into and behind enemy positions. In the old days there used to be Siege Artillery too and it was used quite frequently up into the Second World War. Aircraft and nuclear weapons took over that job and now precision munitions are replacing both of them too.

Here is my poem. It is titled 'Annus horriblis'. There is a company by the name of Battlefront, Purveyors of fine wargames of which I always take a punt, Who's 20th anniversary, this year we celebrate, Though their missed release dates we all love to hate, So three cheers for the one and only Battlefront, And I hope the year 2019 won't be such a c.....!

Yeah, CM: Fulda Gap is great! Visible helicopters, all T-72 variants for the entire Warsaw Pact, all M113 variants for the entire NATO forces, dynamic campaign, improved graphics... I got it bundled with KoTOR 3, Half Life 3, VSB 3 and Starcraft Ghost (3)! I'd post videos, but the CIA is in the process of ransacking my apartment.

    Tips for spotting AT guns

All well said about the 1000km front, etc. I would add that at some places there were lots of PAKs, tanks, etc. Those are the places we play in the game. The parts of the front that were poorly defended were of course more numerous, but aren't much fun to play, and were generally not the important places, usually due to being poor areas for transportation/movement. AT guns would be concentrated at strategic/tactically important areas, just as would be more troops, tanks, etc. There were certainly very wide stretches of terrain w no AT guns at all, probably just covered by patrols if at all. But the important roads, etc, those would be have some nasty defenses set up. This is how the Soviets were always able to make bridgeheads across rivers.-- the germans couldn't defend the whole river line in strength. Happened all the time.

I remember. I was one of the people that had one guy go outta his way to downvote every and every post i made, opinion, game mechanics, real life, even just anyone want a pbem? Crazy. Whatever yeah i agree it should have stayed dead. For example one of the most intelligent posters Ive ever encountered on the boards JasonC, I havent seen post in years so Im assuming he.d have 0 points which would be incredibly deceptive to his vast knowledge. It also favors heavy posters and - I admit people like me -who sometimes post stuff thats really nothing - like thanking someone, making a dumb assed joke or the like. Some of the best posters on here disappear a lot, go on deployment ( i believe codename duchess is deployed or recently was god bless him) or only come out to post sparingly or if summoned like a genie (panzersauerkrautwerfer ) Though to be fair, is this -in my opinion- something that at the moment Id want to see BFC spend even 10 minutes on again? No Id rather they just stop messing around with it leave it and hurry up with more games!

    4. What about peeking (or even shooting - with one man) around a corner in urban settings? I assume it would be incredibly hard to get that into the engine and might be consiedered a bit too "micro" for the engine's scope. But I think it would be nice if a unit positioned at a corner would get some LOS around the corner - it could very well be low quality LOS, only giving you suspected contacts, not confirmed ones. The current method - moving the whole unit "around" the corner blindly and potentially exposing them to devastating fire - has little appeal. 5. I applaud CM to the relative spotting- and also the information-sharing system. As we all know, however, it can't be brought to full effect because the player can still let units area-target spots without good reason (the firing unit has no suspected contact-marker there). The player = god problem prevails. So I still wonder if the whole information-thing could be enforced to actually produce effects and have a high influence on how the game is played. There is such an awesome communication-system under the hood, yet players don't really have to pay attention to it if they don't want to. I guess it has been discussed ad infinitum, but why not allow area-targeting only on/close to spots with suspected contact markers? For precautionary fire on suspected positions, players could make use of target reference points. The maps are not that huge so that a few TRPs should suffice to cover all the obvious spots on the map? Or else, what I'd like even more: give area-fire directed at a spot at which a unit has no "suspected contact-marker" a chance to be directed at an adjacent spot (instead of the original target) or make the fire much less effective to simulate the same effect.
