Greetings! This is my first real attempt with the editor - which started out from this real-world Luftwaffe aerial shot I came across for the village of Golynki, west of Smolensk... ...which I stretched to fit more neatly into a CM-friendly grid, and came out with this map: It is a 2000m x 1792m map, covering a few types of terrain: a peat bog in the northern half, a wooded area and the near-pristine village of Tregubovka to the southeast, and the larger village of Golynki to the soutwest, which has been largely demolished and abandoned under the German occupation. The map is divided in half by drainage ditch running north-south (both it and a secondary ditch on the northeast side are passable 'shallow ford' throughout), and has a major rail line running east-west in the bottom quarter of the map. At the moment, I have no data on any actions that took place here - all I learned is that this area was recaptured by the Soviets in October 1943 (I originally thought it was part of the CMRT timeline in 1944, but it is not so). It's a very detailed, handcrafted map - it may still need a bit of optimization as I went very heavy on the flavour objects (so the frame rate might drag down in certain areas, depending on your system). On the upside, it's very pretty in places I'm trying to figure out what to do with it in terms of scenario - and since I have absolutely 0 experience with scenario building and AI programming at the moment, any help or advice would be appreciated! What would you like to see on this map? At the moment, there is no AI and all the parameters, objectives, etc. are placeholders only. It's only really usable in the editor right now. You may download my current WIP version of it here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1hA9cr80cdMmHkGK8mhhbNgZz_LAefsyH ...or in the forum attachment. If you have anything that you'd like to create on this map yourself, or use it or any part of it for your own scenarios - you're very welcome to do so (with credit for map given). Thanks for checking it out! CCIP - Golynki (v01 map only).btt

So I just checked the editor and no trains, partisans or SS units available. Thanks for the bone about the new Red Thunder module. 😁 If these units aren't in the next module I will hold you responsible for getting my hopes up. Especially working trains.

    best CM game

That's a good observation. It's also proof that the games are of a consistent quality. Many franchises suffer from having newer iterations, that may be technically superior -- and yet have inferior content. A flaw of my beloved Theatre of War series. Any CM you pick up is guaranteed to work well and have decent content -- really depends on your interest in the specific conflict. Another interesting observation is that some people prefer WW2-era gameplay, and others prefer modern-era gameplay. I like to mix it up, do a campaign in one era and then switch over. It's a good contrast and makes you rethink a lot of your tactics. I'd suggest getting the DLC for Normandy -- lots of content in there. It's certainly the best supported title. My personal favourites: 1. CMFI -- lots of content, and currently expanding. Unique middle-war setting and a varied Italian terrain. 2. CMBS -- probably the best modern combat tactics game on the market. 3 unique factions with impressive TO&Es. Great gameplay: each tech toy can be devastating if used right. 3. CMRT -- this one grew on me. This one only has 2 factions, but they are both very different and balanced. If you like big bombastic WW2 clashes, this is the one. Battles are generally big and require a lot of combined arms. Both sides have an insane amount of AFV types that are tailored to take on specific situations. Honourable mentions: a. CMBN -- I think this could be number 3, but you already own it. b. CMA -- this is a gem. If you like cold war, this is as close as you can get. Kind of like a polarity-swapped Vietnam. I have not played CM:FB, partly because of my disinterest in late WW2. Mostly because the other CMs have been keeping me well occupied. I do want to buy it soon...

He might have connected you to that campaign by the "Highland" part in its name and then distracted by what you have under your kilt...

This guy is worth a watch

I've noticed that much of what gets posted on YT shares that characteristic. The self-descriptions of the items consists almost entirely of superlatives; the item is the "most" this or the "fantastic" that. And then when you open it, it falls completely flat. It has gotten so that I simply avoid anything with "amazing" or "top ten" in the title. Michael

    Panther gun damage

I think with regard to Panther there's a psychological factor involved. I know whenever I play with an ubertank I'm more likely to take ill-advised risks, believing the armor will save me. If I were piloting a Marder III my game-play is super-careful and stealthy. A Panther or Tiger I'm practically inviting the enemy to shoot me. So my optics get wrecked, my gun gets damaged, and I fall victim to a 'lucky' lower hull penetration.
